His eyes widened a little as he slid his hands down her back. A soft tap to her rear had her moaning just before he gripped her tighter. "Let's see whatchya got, baby."

Jamie used her body to massage him fully, bringing him to the edge and then stopping, just to tease him properly. He cried out several times and nothing felt more powerful than gripping his pleasure tightly and him knowing it.

On all fours, she crawled forward and then turned to press the front of her body against his as they both stood on their knees on the bed. She pressed her lips against his and kissed him with a passion that took his breath away. Panting, Alex leaned back to catch his breath, his hard erection teasing her belly.

Jamie pushed his body back against the pillows and grinned wickedly as she cupped her breasts. Alex’s breathing hitched as she leaned forward and squeezed his erection between her breasts, massaging and moving her fingers over her nipples, leaning just far enough away so Alex could watch.

Alex groaned as his hand reached for her head and pushed it down toward his cock. Jamie knew what he wanted, but resisted slightly. She let go of her breasts and set both hands on either side of his hips before capturing the head in her mouth. She licked and sucked the tip as his hips arched and tried to push it all into her mouth.

She pulled her head away slowly, panting heavily before taking all of him in. She repeated the movement several times and could feel herself growing wetter and begging for something. She moved forward and straddled him as she reached down and guided his rock-hard cock into her wet tunnel. Alex cried out, an almost animal sound as Jamie sat back and pressed hard against him, rotating her hips and feeling the hardness inside her grow harder. She flexed her inner muscles, tightening her hold on him. “You like that?” she whispered hoarsely, barely able to control herself.

“It’s amazing, Jamie,” Alex gasped as he gripped her hips and began to force her up and down his shaft.

Jamie moaned erotically. She never knew those kind of sounds could come out of her. They turned Alex on as he groaned and sped up their already-frantic rhythm. His hips began to buck off the bed as he rocked her and his cock as fast as he could.

She bent forward and began sucking and licking Alex’s shoulder. “I’m coming!” she cried out as she spasmed and clenched frantically at Alex. He came too, hard inside her, grunting and panting, unable to speak as they continued to move, both covered in sweat, and wet from their love-making.

Drained, Jamie’s head dropped onto Alex’s shoulder, and they both fell back onto the bed, gasping for air. She turned her head and rested her cheek on his chest while his arms circled her waist.

Alex let out a long groan. "You're going to be the death of me, woman." He reached over and tugged at her hair carefully as she lay beside him.

She smiled, unable to talk past her panting, and when she did finally catch her breath, she stole his away again by saying, “Think you have enough money that we could just lay in the bed and fuck forever?”

“Don’t tempt me.” He kissed her forehead. "Tonight was incredible, but you always are. I've never been with a woman like you. Don't ever leave me. I'd be ruined forever."

She smiled up at him and ran her hand down his tight abs. "I feel the exact same way. You are most certainly ruined for all other women. I'd kill anyone who tried to take you anyway."

"That so?" He lifted his eyebrow as he turned his head a little to see her better.

"Yep. No one would ever know." She shrugged and snuggled closer against him.

"Why is that hot to me?" he laughed and closed his eyes, tightening his grip around her as they both drifted off to sleep.

Chapter 12

Jamie woke suddenly in the darkness. She shivered from the cool air and no blankets. She sat up and froze as she reached for the duvet. The sound of the floor creaking down the hall caught her attention. It wouldn't have been a big deal, but Alex was in the bed next to her. His heavy breathing was usually a comfort to her, but terror rolled over her in thick waves.

Not sure what to think, she moved to the edge of the bed and got up, hoping like hell that the puppy had woken up in the middle of the night and come looking for her. Maybe he was digging around in a garbage can or something.

"Jake?" she whispered softly and walked to the door, pausing beside it and glancing out.

The hallway was empty, and the house quiet. She took a quiet breath and started to walk out as someone darted across the hall from one of the empty bedrooms to the office.

Jamie jerked back, slammed the door, and locked it before turning to scream.

"Someone's in the house! Get up." She flipped on the lights and checked the door as Alex scrambled out of bed.

"What? What's the matter? What happened?" He moved toward her, reaching out as if to comfort her, but she swatted him off and worked to get a pair of pants and a shirt on.

"Someone’s in the house! I saw him run to one of the rooms." She raced to the side of the bed with the phone and dropped down. "I'm calling the cops."

"Baby. It was probably a bad—"

"No! I'm serious, and don't you dare go out there. Do you hear me? I'm serious." Tears burned her eyes, and Alex moved to sit down on the bed next to her.

He wrapped his arm around her shoulder and kissed the side of her face as the phone began to ring.

"Nine-one-one. What's your emergency?"

"We have a burglar. He's in the house now. Please, hurry. I've locked myself in the bedroom with my boyfriend, but I saw him running through the house." Jamie spoke frantically, her tone and words blurred due to her crying.

Alex took the phone and got up, walking to the window and speaking calmly with the woman on the phone.

Jamie stood and pressed her hands to her face, trying to shake the fear and trepidation that threatened to strangle her, but she couldn't get past it.

She tensed when Alex wrapped her in a tight hug.

"They're on their way, Jamie. It's going to be fine. We have security cameras. I'll just check it out and we'll see that no one was here." He kissed her head as she jerked her face up.

"Alex. I told you that there have been a handful of houses robbed in our neighborhood. The damn alarm system needs to be fixed. It's not a joke. What if he has a weapon? You wouldn’t be hugging a warm body, but bagging up a cold one. This is serious shit." She moved out of his arms as anger ripped through her, burning up the fear and quickly replacing it. What if they went into Mark’s place first?

"I forgot about the fucking alarm system. Too busy with work. Shit!" He worked to get fully dressed and moved to the closed door.

Jamie's heart constricted in her chest. "What’re you doing?"

"I'm going out to see if he's still here, and to figure out what he stole from us." He glanced back. "Hand me that hammer under my nightstand."

"A hammer? What the hell are you going to do with a hammer?"

"Would you rather I take nothing out there?" He stood to his full height, his attitude showing that he was fully awake, and less than happy.

"No. I'd rather you wait for the cops like any sane individual would." She grabbed the hammer and handed it over as she growled at him.

"There's no one in the house, Jamie. You're being overly sensitive. It was probably the dog." He took the hammer and reached out to touch the side of her face. "Stay here."

"Yep. Just in case the vicious guard dog attacks?"

"Watch it, cheeky girl. I'll get you."

She flopped back down on the bed and curled up into the fetal position.  She reached for her cell phone and realized it was still in the kitchen. Damn it! She couldn’t send Mark a warning text. She didn’t know his number by heart and wasn’t about to ask Alex if he knew it. “Get the burglar the hell out of our house now, and get back in bed. I'm scared, and tired as fuck."

He chuckled and rolled his eyes. He grumbled about her being indecisive as he walked out into the hall.

Chapter 13

Three Days Later

Everything settled back down a few days later, thankfully. No one had been in the house when Alex went through it. The police found no signs of a break-in or entry in the house, nor did anything look out of place. However, Jake had been locked in the pantry with a large rawhide bone. It was the only giveaway that someone had been inside. Mark came up to say he hadn’t heard anything, and swore he hadn’t bought the dog the bone. Poor Jake looked sad when the police took it away from him. They did notice shoeprints in the snow, that cut across the lawn. The prints belonged to a large male. However, it didn’t prove anything. The police would keep an eye on the house and suggested to Alex that he get his alarm system back up and running.

With the drama of actually having someone break in to the house, all of the heat at the office subsided. Gina was a great help to Alex and Jamie in getting the alarm fixed and trying to have the camera footage reviewed by the investigators with the New York Police Department. They weren’t sure if they would get anything from the cameras because the code wasn’t working at the time. However, the security company Alex had hired seemed to be trying to make up for the fact that the alarm had gone down in the first place, and they hadn’t noticed it on their end.

Alex grew adamant about Jamie going into the office with him after the break-in, and told her she could swim in the pool, he would turn the heat even higher, or she could just work out in the gym. Either way, he made her promise to let Mark know what she would be doing so she was never on her own. It felt a bit restrictive, and getting up at five in the morning was enough to leave her ready to cut someone.

"Baby, I know you're upset, but it's for the best. You're a beautiful girl, and if I were a criminal, you're something I would be more than happy to steal." Alex glanced over at Jamie as they rode to work that morning.

She pressed down in the warm seat of Alex's nice-smelling Lexus and grunted at him. The birds weren't even up. The sun wasn't shining and it was ten degrees below freezing, or it sure as hell felt it. She had slept like crap again, terrified someone would be in the house, and then dreaming someone was when she did manage to sleep.

"Jamie. Come on. I'll stop by the coffee shop you like so much." He reached over and took her hand, squeezing it softly.

"It's not open yet, Alex. Nothing’s open. I'm seriously contemplating the meaning of life right now." She pulled his hand up to her cheek and snuggled it.

He chuckled. "You're silly, woman."

"I know." She sighed, no energy to fight and unable to shake the fear of that single moment when she had seen the stranger dart across the hallway and violate the space belonging to her and Alex only. She glanced sideways at him as he pulled into a drive-thru coffee shop that was pretty good too.

"We're having dinner with my old high school friend, Kristen, tonight. I hope your calendar is open. It looked like it was." He pulled his hand from her and rolled down the window. "What do you want?"

"To not have dinner with someone prettier than I am." She scoffed and turned to face the other window before pulling her legs into the seat and wrapping her arms around her knees.

“Prettier? My ass!” He pinched her butt and she yelped, turning to swat at him and trying not to laugh. Even though she was tired and miserable, he still knew how to fix it.

"Order, or you're not getting anything." He turned and placed his order as she unbuckled and crawled over him, making sure to tuck her hand tightly against his crotch as she ordered for herself.

He fondled her breast and nipped at her shoulder before she could get back into her seat.

"You think that bothered me? I liked it. A lot. I'm going to get you all pissy and bothered more often." He winked at her and turned on the radio.

"I'm not playing third wheel tonight, Alex. Seriously. Just go with her and I'll hang out with Mark."

"Mark! That's perfect. I was trying to think of someone I could invite so she wouldn't feel uncomfortable. Mark is perfect." He pulled up to the window and handed the barista his credit card.

"You don't want her to feel uncomfortable? What about me? I just said I'm not good with going to dinner with your bombshell girlfriend from high school."

Alex took their coffees from the girl at the window and handed Jamie hers, rolled up his window, and pulled into the parking lot before looking over at her. "You should never be uncomfortable if I'm there. That's not a possibility. I'm your man, and you’re the only woman for me. I don’t think Kristin is cute, hot, or pretty. I see her as a person, not an object. You're the only one I see when I look around a crowded room." He reached for her and half pulled her into his seat as he pressed his lips hard against hers.

She melted against him, and let every word from his insanely sweet confession infiltrate her doubt. He was her man, and he had proven it many times lately.

Wrapping her arms around his neck, she pressed into the kiss and slipped her tongue into his mouth, rubbing it along his as her fingers dug into the back of his neck.

"There's my girl," he whispered against her lips. "I love you. You're the only woman I love. Hear me, okay?"

"Okay, Alex. I'm sorry." She kissed him against once more and got back into her seat. "I'm good with dinner tonight. I'll ask Mark unless you already did."

"I'd love for you to do it." He smiled and pulled out of the parking lot, his shoulders less tense.

"I don't mind." She picked up her coffee and took a tentative sip. She kind of liked getting up at the same time as him in the morning; getting to spend a little extra time with him while he wasn't half drowning at work was nice. Really nice.

They pulled up to the office, and Alex let her out at the front to save her from having to walk too far. Her ankle had almost healed from the slight sprain she had suffered, but he insisted on playing it safe. Life was too busy to have her moving around on crutches. Mark had been teasing her about it a bit too much the last few days. He seemed to think it would be a good thing to be hobbling around. At least she would be able to beat the next robber with one of her crutches.
