Loving what He Wants (Celine and Rhyland Series) (5 page)

Violet hesitated but soon realised that he wasn’t moving until he saw Celine.

‘What are you doing Harvey?’

‘I just need to see her.’

‘Harvey.’

‘Please.’

More guests arrived it was almost time. She looked around her and then nodded.

‘Okay but not for long.’ She led him upstairs to where Celine got ready for her wedding.

Harvey was blown away. Such beauty was hard to come by. He opened his mouth to speak but no words came.

Harvey I’m so glad you came.’ Celine rushed over to him and gave him a big hug.

‘I…I’m glad you invited me. I’m also glad you never stopped being my friend. I just wanted to say I’m sorry for the way I treated
you.’ He took her hand. ‘I want you to walk down that aisle knowing that I’m happy for you.’

‘Oh
Harvey, thank you so much!’ she hugged him again. ‘This is all so overwhelming. All my friends, family the man I love together under one roof.’

They detached and took in deep breaths and giggled.

‘Harvey you better go and take your seat.’

He winked at Celine before
leaving her with Ava by her side. Soon after Harvey had stepped out Celine’s father entered the room.

‘Daddy?’

He took her into a big hug.

‘I’m so g
lad you’re hear and supporting me.’

‘You look amazing sweetheart and you know I will support you whatever you do. You look happy.’

‘I am.’

‘That’s all that matters baby.’ H
e squeezed her tight. ‘Shall we?’

‘Yes.’ The yes was silent it was magical it was the best yes she’d ever said!

She looked into his eyes as he said the words every woman wanted to hear. It was a magical day a day her life became complete. He took the ring as he said the words and placed the huge diamond on her finger. She did the same and never took her eyes off him.

On the front row her mother cried. It was strange but she could see the love in their eyes. She had had doubts about the whole marriage but just watching them declare their love for each other changed everything.

‘You may kiss the bride.’

Their lips touched, and they were taken away from the prying eyes and into their own little world. They spoke their own language, the language of love and everyone around them could feel it.

‘I want to feel like that one day,’ Violet said to no one in particular.

‘Ladies and gentlemen I present to you Mr and Mrs Chambers.’

There were cheers and the music from the band on the left mellowed through. Everything had been fitted into his home in such a way that the pictures were amazing on the snow garden that had been made just outside the reception area.

The party proceeded, food was eaten everyone was happy and so were the couple until later that afternoon. Ava was giving a speech as the bride and groom listened on. At first she didn’t notice it and then as he held onto his chest it couldn’t be ignored.

‘Rhyland! Rhylan
d are you alright?’ She took his face into her hands. ‘Rhyland! Somebody call an ambulance!’

****

‘Oh my god you scared me today.’ She lay in his chest at the hospital. ‘Stupid old heartburn.’ She looked up at him and he smiled.

‘To think heartburn could feel so
lethal, I thought I was having a heart attack!’

‘Don’t you ever do that to me again.’ She warned.

Celine lay still in her huge wedding dress; although uncomfortable she didn’t want to leave his side.

‘I promise.’ He kissed the top
of her head. ‘Now how about we go home?’

‘Yeah I’d like that.’

Chapter six

Seven Months Later

Beautiful Celine

If you’re reading this letter I’m probably dead now. I wanted to leave some special words with you so that you never forget who you are. The first day I met you, you were the one, I was just too blind to see it. I was too wrapped up in my world of money to realise that I couldn’t take it with me after that. You’ve given me the best few months of my life. I’d never made love to anyone the way I made love to you. You gave me that precious gift before it was too late.

I know t
he last few weeks would’ve been hard, I wouldn’t really know as I would be in and out of oblivion, that’s what I think it would be like. I mean morphine just takes you to a different level all together. Anyway let me not get too side tracked by this illness.

You were my sunshine on the rainiest day of my life. You were the laughter when I thought I would never laugh again. You brought meaning to my life, meaning that was more than money. Money can only take us so far but it can be a good tool. I’m sure you know this by now and that my solicitors have been in touch. Everything I own now belongs to you, you’re going to be a very rich lady! I know with your heart of gold it will be in the right hands.

I couldn’t have been the happiest man when you told me about our unborn child. Please tell him that I love him, that I loved him before he was born. Tell him that I kissed your belly every moment I could get and tell him he has the bravest mummy in the world.

You may not see
me but I live in your heart forever. I will miss you even though I don’t know if it’s possible after death. I will miss you sweetheart. I will really miss you!

Don’t forget to
smile; it makes the world a friendlier place. You have shown me more in the few months than I’ve seen in a lifetime. In the end the only thing that matters is love. Love will pull you through this and know I’m always looking out for you. You will never be alone.

All my love

Rhyland

She sniffed and folded the letter.

‘Miss are you okay?’

Celine hid her eyes from the sun to look up at the stranger. He had jet black hair and a kind smile, the similarities frightened her.

Do you want me to help you up?’ he held out his hand and she took it.

‘I’m…I’m fine just saying goodbye again.’ She looked at Rhylands stone decorated with the lilies she’d brought.

‘I’m Jack.’

‘Celine.’

‘Saying goodbye is hard but it gets better. You never forget though.’

‘Yeah, it’s really hard.’ She held her big belly.

‘My wife.’ He turned to look at the back of him. ‘Died two years ago in a car crash.’

‘I’m sorry to hear that.’ She held onto her belly feeling a little faint. ‘My husband died of cancer.’

‘So sorry.’

‘Yeah.’ She took deep breaths.

‘Are you alright?’

‘Yeah I’m fine it’s just…just you look so much like him.’ She smiled. ‘E
xcept for the eyes, he had blue eyes yours are green.’ This time she held onto his shoulder.

‘Are you sure you’re alright?

‘I think I just need to sit down.’

‘There’s a coffee shop at the entrance do you think you could make it there?’

‘Yes I can, I’ve done worse.’ She smiled.

‘Here let me help you.’ He took her arm and slowly they walked up the gentle slope to the coffee shop.

‘It’s nice to meet you Jack.’

‘It’s nice to meet you too, Celine.’

And just like that she felt a cool breeze drift across her skin as if someone was right behind her. She looked back and in her minds eyes she could almost see him. Smiling waving and blowing a kiss her way.

‘You will be just fine,’ Jack said.

‘Yes, yes I will.’ She smiled.
