When in fact I know that my mother has lost her mind. Because no one would date a man that much younger than herself if they were sane. In my book she’s asking for trouble. Who has the power to control a young man? No one, I would say. They are too unstable because of the sex hormones.

Finally, Tamika stands and walks in the direction of the bathroom. Then she stops and reveals more information about my mother. Information my mother doesn’t want me to know. “He’s into sports.”

“What do you mean he’s into sports? Does he sell sport’s equipment?”

“Kind of. He’s a football player.”

“A retired one?” I ask her.

She looks at me and says, “I can’t remember.” Which is a code word for she’s lying.

I rush over to her, and stand in front of her. “You do remember.”

“Okay, but don’t tell her I told you. His name is Reggie something.”

“Reggie Fields?”

“Could be.”

“What the...he’s old enough to be my brother. Why would he want to...?” I couldn’t bring myself to say it.

“Why would he want to fuck a woman in her fifties? Maybe because he’s a man and your mother is hot.”

“She’s hot alright.” I shook my head in disbelief and I didn’t need to have this conversation ever again with Tamika. “Tamika promise me we won’t talk about this.” I roll my eyes at her.

“Suit yourself. I didn’t want to discuss this in the first place. You forced me.”

I could have strangled her. She was nothing but a gossip machine, and she was dying to talk about this to me. She must have tortured herself because she held that secret longer than a day.

We finally dressed and found our way to the conference hall. It was a large auditorium, and I thought before I opened the doors that it would be just me and Tamika and a few die-hards sitting, waiting for the waters to part for Mr. Hayden Powers to walk on the stage.

On entering, a young blond girl handed me a program. Looking down at it, I discovered that he would be the next to the last speaker. “Oh that’s just perfect. We have to be here through the whole damn thing just to hear him speak about power,” I whispered to Tamika. I huffed and then sat next to her, making sure I was on an aisle seat, and I could get out quickly in case of fire and a dull ass speech.

The next time I looked up, the place was full. I sat thinking about the presentation coming up in a few weeks, and how I wasn’t ready, and the information about my mother. I finally came to the conclusion that it was her life and I had my own which I couldn’t control, and I wasn’t going to spend my time wondering why my mother had chosen a man much younger than herself, and one of those out of control football players.

Through the whispers and nudging by Tamika, and discussions about what people were wearing, it was almost time for the main speaker, Mr. Hayden Powers.

Tamika leaned over and said, “Did you see that Louis Vuitton bag she’s carrying?”

“I didn’t know we were here to cover fashion of everyone in this hall. So far you’ve been chattering in my ear the whole time about bags, suits, and shoes. I haven’t heard a thing.” Then she shut up and straightened up in her seat like a lightning bolt had struck her in the ass.

Trying to pretend that she was upset with me she remained quiet for a second, then she nudged me in the side again. I had my head down sketching on a piece of paper our presentation which we would have to give to an audience of lawyers in a few weeks.

“What? What is it and stop doing that,” I said annoyed with her.

“On stage. Have you ever seen anything that gorgeous in your life?” I looked up slowly and sucked my teeth because Tamika and I didn’t have the same taste in men. Her gorgeous could mean anything. A bald headed fifty year old with a good body, to a nerd with large glasses and a good body, as long as they had muscles they were gorgeous in her book.

Her taste in men ran the range, from men with shaved heads, to men with dreadlocks. To men who were skinny and nervous, to men who looked like a linebacker on the Panthers football team. Some people had a type with men, but everything was Tamika’s type. But her preference was another thing. She preferred Hispanic men, but lately she wasn’t having any luck with them.

When I turned to see her mouth opened wide, and her eyes gawking, that got my attention. It was him, Mr. Power himself. I felt everything below my waist tightened and my panties become moist. “Look at him,” I whispered.

“Isn’t he the best looking man you’ve seen in your life?” Tamika said leaning and whispering in my ear.

All I could do was shake my head in agreement because I had never seen a man that handsome and that self-assured. He strode on stage slow, easy, and confident like a panther ready to chase down his afternoon snack.

He appeared to have bathed in an air of self-confidence.

He strutted the degree of the stage, pacing from one corner to the other and then standing in the middle and then back to his pattern. To the right corner, then the left corner, and then the middle. He didn’t stand behind a podium or read from a teleprompter. He wanted that packed audience of mostly women to get a good look at him.

He even turned to pick up a bottle of water from a stool to show off his well-developed firm beautifully proportioned ass.

He stood there in casual dress. A pair of dark blue slacks and a light blue pull over silk sweater over his powerful shoulders and long arms.

For that moment I daydreamed about him wrapping me in his arms. Sucking my dark nipples with his luscious pink lips, closing in on them, and pulling them with every breath as he fingered me before plunging his hard cock inside of me. White on Black. I made a loud sigh. No one heard me because they were too busy taking in Hayden Powers, and too busy having their own daydreams.

When the cameras pulled in for a close up of him, you could hear the crowd gasp from delight. His hair dark and curly, cut short, and a soft small manicured beard. Beards were in and he knew it. He had done his research. His eyes were a deep blue like a tropical ocean, unlike his sweater, to contrast and call attention to those eyes. His face is chiseled down to his square jaw line. As he speaks, I watch at his bright straight teeth and full lips. I know instinctively that I want them on me anywhere. Everywhere.

A group of women sitting behind us are shouting at him and talking loud as if we are at a rock concert. “We love you,” they shout at him.

“I love you, too,” his words old, but the sound is new. The tone is velvet. When the word love leaves his mouth it’s smoothing to the ear. His words were playful, and you can tell he likes women.

I heard one woman say, “I’d like to get him in bed and fuck his brains out. Make him eat my pussy all night.” I turned and mouthed, “Shut up.” I turned back around because I didn’t want to have to fight one, although Tamika would be right there helping me, I guess, but she was encouraging them.

She was the kind of friend to have my back, but instead I just ignored them and let them have their fun. When the cameras went in for a second close up of Mr. Powers, I took a good look at his face. His profile spoke of power. Sharp and self-assured. I could see why he held me and that audience of women in a trance. His brows and deep blue eyes were in stark contrast and startling against his dark hair.

I remembered nothing about his lecture because I couldn’t concentrate on it. All my focus was on his handsome face. A gorgeous face I had never seen in my lifetime, and probably would never come across again. So I forgot about mastering power and dreamed about Mr. Hayden Powers. There was no way I could ever be anything but a fan, but I wasn’t into fandom or men worshiping. So I consoled myself with the moment I would get to look at him.

Hayden Powers came with a face that would make women fall to their knees and suck his dick as he aimlessly claimed their mouths. And after swallowing his come they would be his walking dead. They would do anything for him. I didn’t know what came over me and I was ready to let him come in my mouth, down my throat. I had to fight my feeling to come back to reality.

I couldn’t take him any longer because a man as good looking and confident as he is would have all the power he could want and need in a lifetime, and it wouldn’t do me any good to become one of his legions of the walking dead.

He knew what his power was and he has used it to his advantage. I’m sure he didn’t mentioned that in his lectures.

I leaned over to Tamika, “I’m leaving, I can’t take him anymore.” In reality, I was ready for an orgasm.

“Don’t you want to stay a little longer? This is a treat for me. I like looking into a beautiful man’s face even if it’s on a monitor.”

“I’m not into men who are beautiful and know it. And especially men who use their looks to seduce woman for their own benefit. And besides, I’m not turned on by white men.”

“Well I guess that ugly boyfriend with his peanut head gets you hot.” That was a snipe I didn’t see coming. I wasn’t all together surprised because she never liked Wayne. Hell I didn’t like him, but he was a safe port in a storm until he decided to leave me with a large rent bill on a desert island.

Looking at Tamika, I leaned into her, “I’ll see you later.” I mouthed.

She grabbed my arm as I made an attempt to stand, “Are you coming to the meet and greet. I hear you can take a picture with him if you buy one of his books.”

“I don’t think so,” I said narrowing my eyes. “At fifty dollars, I think I’ll use that money to eat with. I can’t eat his book.”

“Don’t you want to see him up close?”

“I’ve seen all I want to see of him. If you can’t spend it what good is it?” Now I was sounding like Tamika and my mother. And I knew it was time I took my depressing ass out of that place. “I need to use the restroom,” I whispered to her. Tamika released my arm and I quietly rushed out of the auditorium.

I passed two women rushing back into the auditorium as I was leaving. I heard them discussing Hayden Powers as they stood looking for their seats.

“I almost peed on myself because I didn’t want to leave,” the tall middle age blond said.

“Do you think he’s into water sports?” A short dark haired thirty year old added with a chuckle. “You do know what I mean,” she said looking around to see if anyone heard her.

“I know exactly what you mean, and I’d like to find out,” the blond said.

“Wow, I never heard you talk like that before.” Her friend looked at her, stopped and drew her body back in amazement.

“Never saw a man as handsome as that before. Living or dead,” the blond said. I shook my head and grinned.

Chapter Two

I
stumbled out of the conference because I couldn’t take his handsome arrogant ass one more minute. How can anyone have so much going for him? That face. That body, and so much money. I got sick thinking about him and how I wished he were mine.

Or was it because I hadn’t had a good lay in months and I was ready to sleep with anyone that looked sideways at me. Calm down I told myself as I struggled to find my way into the hallway.

I spotted the elevator, rushed for it, and headed up to my room. After all his power bullshit, I would need to get drunk or finger myself. I reached the second floor and then it dawned on me I may have left my key in the room. I couldn’t remember putting it in my purse.

Searching my purse feverishly I realized that I was right the first time. No key. I couldn’t find it. I had left it on the dresser. I couldn’t afford the liquor in the small frig anyway.

The only thing to do was to head back to the elevator and down to the first floor to find Tamika, or go to the front desk. It was too late to realize that I might be on the wrong elevator because of the confusing floor plan, and who reads the floor plans?

Good thing I wasn’t anxious to use the restroom because I would have been in real trouble. I just wanted to go to my room, touch up my makeup before dinner, and not have to see people for a few seconds, and think about sex and how desperate I wanted that man. Well maybe tonight he will visit me in my dreams, I tell myself. Another stupid thought.

The elevator opened and I made it back to the floor where the conference is held, but no Tamika.

I knew there were restrooms on the first floor near the entrance to the conference room. Looking up there was a sign that said restrooms. I was sure I would see Tamika spraying perfume and putting on lipstick.

Upset for a host of things including forgetting my room key, I opened the door and walked in. It was quiet and no one was in there yet. I took my time and spread out my makeup on the counter.

Taking a breath of relief because of the quiet, I pulled my comb out of my small bag. I only carry a red lipstick, and a compact. I didn’t need the comb because all I had to do was rake my hands through my afro and that was that.

I believed in low maintenance for me, but somehow I was all ways attracted to high maintenance men. Needy men. That’s why when Hayden Powers gave his speech on the power to master our lives, I knew it was pure bullshit. If it wasn’t for women, men couldn’t find their dicks. And here he was trying to teach about power.

He didn’t tell us about the power we have right between our legs.

Looking in the mirror, I smiled and brushed a small layer of red lipstick over my lips. I passed the Kleenex over my mouth to tone down the redness of the lipstick. There’s nothing like bright red lipstick that says fuck me in my mouth to men, and I will suck your dick.

Power isn’t always where it appears to be. It’s in this little tube of red lipstick, too. I rake my fingers through my hair. Shake it into place and pass another coat of red lipstick on my lips, dabble a Kleenex over them, to give me a natural look of swollen lips. Men seem to like the swollen lip thing. Maybe it reminds them of our lips between our thighs. Then I applied another coat of black mascara to emphasize my light brown eyes to make them look seductive.

Who am I fooling? There isn’t any chance I’ll get lucky and find a handsome man to fuck for one night, and never have to see him again. But I was prepared just in case. Carried around a few latex. I took one out and laughed. I’d better check them because I’d been carrying them around for a year, I thought.
