More Than This: A More Novella (13 page)

“Come on, let’s go down and have a proper, home cooked meal with family.” I opened the door and led him out into the hall. “You don’t have to be nervous. Thomas is great.”

“I want him to like me,” he admitted in a low voice as we moved towards the stairs. “I don’t want him to think I’m not good enough for you.”

“He won’t think that,” I assured him, absolutely certain of it. “Thomas likes everyone. He’s good like that.”

Roar gave me a small smile—but my words didn’t seem to lessen his nervousness any. It didn’t matter anyway—he’d soon figure out how great my family was.

“You’re great, Roar. They’ll all love you.”

He snorted, not at all certain of that, but I was. I knew my family. I knew Thomas would take Roar in if it came to that. I knew no one would judge him or not like him, because there wasn’t anything unlikeable about him. He was great—when he let his guard down, and kept his temper in check.

In not too long, he’d fit right in, I was sure of it.
