He looked surprised. “You find out that you’re among a gang of vampires, that I made you suck on my blood, and you might be a mage, and that’s all you have to say?”

Lacey smiled. When he put it like that, it sounded as if she was stuck inside a bad movie. But when she looked into his eyes, she felt as if she was right where she was meant to be. As he stood right in front of her, her entire body ached to plaster itself against his hard length. The desire that she felt from the first time that she saw him tonight hadn’t died. It was stronger than ever before.

“Yes. What else can I say?” She laughed.

Suddenly, his arms were around her and his mouth hot on her lips. It was warm and cold at the same time. Her skin sizzled with the contact and she felt goose bumps break over her arms. He ran his tongue over her mouth and desire, hot and strong, skipped through her veins. It felt as if she was on fire. Passion was a volcano that burst inside her and seared her. His tongue stroked against her and all thoughts fled her mind. She was putty in his arms, his for the taking. He could do whatever he wanted and she wouldn’t be able to stop him. Their lips remained fused. His arms were strong around her. Lacey’s heart beat so fast that she thought he might be able to hear it. With his super hearing, he probably could. His lips were demanding, urgent.

She wanted more. Just as that thought crossed her mind, he stepped away. They glanced at each other – both of them were fully aware of the fact that from now things were going to be very different. Nothing would remain the same. Lacey’s life, as she knew it, was over and now she was beginning something else.

It was the start of a phase that she didn’t understand.
