Mystral Murder (Julie O'Hara Mystery Series) (20 page)

And Julie O’Hara! How she thanked God for her surrogate! Of course, He knew all along how everything would turn out.
Her time with the Mystral had been a test…and she had passed.

“Adrienne” coalesced in joy, sparkling like a thousand stars…

Then she was gone.

CHAPTER 53

I
t was two in the morning and Julie, sedated by a painkiller, was a little wobbly on her feet. She leaned heavily on Joe as he slipped his card key into 1272. He ushered her in and closed the door behind them.

Omigod, Joe, look at this.”

It was an enormous bouquet, mostly white roses.

“For you, babe, I’m sure.”

Julie pulled out the card:

“With the utmost gratitude

for your persistence and your bravery.

Captain Andrew Collier.”

“Oh, isn’t that nice, Joe?”

“Sweetheart, I think it’s the least he can do. I’ll be surprised if HCL doesn’t make you a present of a free cruise. Can I help you get out of your things?” he said, pulling her sweater over her head.

“Joe. Stop treating me like an invalid. I’m okay!”

“That’s not why I’m helping you undress…”

CHAPTER 54

T
he next morning at eight, Julie and Joe were assigned to the Odyssey Lounge along with several others, including Dale Simpson and Gill and Cathy Byrne, who were all previously on Deck 10. They were to wait there until their group was called to disembark.

“Look at Dale,” Joe whispered.
“What a difference, huh?”

He’s not the only one,
thought Julie, checking out Gill and Cathy.

Their group number was called and Julie and Joe proceeded to the gangway on Deck 4.

After collecting their baggage in the terminal, they headed out to Joe’s Land Rover for their hour-long drive back home. They were smiling, glad to be back in the Sunshine State.

“JULIE! JOE!”

It was Jon Reece, their British writer-friend, running after them, winded. “Could I possibly grab a ride with you into Orlando?”

“Of course,” Joe said, taking his bags. “Hop in the back.”

As they drove out of the parking lot, Jon Reece leaned forward and said, “I’ve decided to write a book. May I ask you a few questions along the way?”

“I can’t see why not,” Julie said. “Have you got a title?”

“I rather like ‘Mystral Murder’…”

Castle Cay

When her best friend is murdered, Julie O'Hara, a body language expert, packs up her suspicion and flies from Florida to Boston for his funeral.
Who could have killed rising artist Marc Solomon, and what does Castle Cay, the Solomons’ mysterious Caribbean island, have to do with it?  Before long, Julie's sixth-sense pulls a hidden string that unravels a deadly conspiracy... and her own troubled past.

“A superbly-plotted murder mystery.
In Castle Cay, Lee Hanson has meticulously crafted a fascinating murder mystery that will delight fans of the genre. Julie O’Hara is a complex, vibrant protagonist whose particular skill (she is a body language expert) is invaluable in helping her ‘read’ suspects. But it is when the reader learns about her tragic past that Julie really starts to jump off the page.”

Aman S. Anand

“Page-turning suspense novel.
Author, Lee Hanson, does an excellent job of building suspense in this murder mystery. She writes likeable characters who are well developed, adding interest to the plot. I see that there is a second book available, Swan Song.  I would definitely be interested in reading further books in this series...”

Dr. Beth Cholette

“Loved this book!
Lee Hanson has burst upon the scene with a can't-put-it-down, great new read. The author manages to weave a plot that is both intriguing and original. She leaves the reader with an unexpected, subtle twist at the end...”

Swan Song

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0040JI3P6

As dawn breaks, the pale body of a beautiful, raven-haired young woman is discovered in an errant swan boat, adrift on a small lake, smack in the middle of a jewel-like park in Downtown Orlando.  It looks like a suicide, Snow White in a fractured fairytale.  Body language expert, Julie O'Hara, isn't buying it.  And that's a BIG problem, since Julie is the one person most likely to figure it out.

“Engaging and Unique.
This is the second book in the Julie O’Hara series, coming after Castle Cay, and to say that I was impressed is an understatement. This novel had me hooked right from the start and the idea behind Julie and her career is a unique one (at least for me).  In my opinion, this was a very fresh and clever way to leap into the mystery/suspense genre. This was plotted very tightly...it took me by surprise when the true assailant was finally uncovered.

Dianne E. Socci-Tetro "Books & Chat”

“Twists and turns that keep you on your toes!
A page-turner that will have you guessing till the very end.  Normally, I'm pretty good at calling the villain in a whodunnit but in this case I was quite surprised.  Like the movie "Sixth Sense", I wanted to go back immediately to see all the clues that I missed.”

Grace Martin

“Another winner!
Swan Song, the second book in this series, is perhaps even better than the first, Castle Cay. The plot has many intricate twists and turns without becoming confusing, and the characters are complex and appealing.  Julie's relationship with Joe is a compelling subplot.  Her special talent as a body language expert is quite believable. Over all, an excellent mystery.”
