He let go of her throat and took her by the hips and drove in and out repeatedly. She was shuddering so hard she would’ve collapsed face first into the pillow if he’d let go, but he didn’t. He bit her on the side of her torso, and then bit her again on the shoulder, the shoulder blade. She bucked against him, enjoying every minute.

He kept biting and sucking all over her back and her arms and she jolted with the electricity of each puncture, and not in a bad way. He wasn’t draining for any length of time in any one spot; instead it was like he endeavored to taste her all over, like a starved man at a king’s buffet. He flipped her onto her back and grabbed her arm and bit her wrist. She felt blood dribble down her wrist and her eyes widened. Sensation rippled through her over and over again. How could this feel so good?

She whimpered, “Tristan, please don’t stop.”

He let out a growl and looked like King of the Castle hovering over her, holding her hips, and using his mouth all over her skin, “Never,” he said.

Every bite resulted in a moan of pleasure from her. She could see his face pretty clearly despite the dark. His eyes were blazing with lust, his fangs dripping with her blood and Kyla had never been so turned on in her life. He was like a wild man, a wild vampire…insatiable, but with lust, not rage.

It was incredible. It was like he was fucking her with his eyes, his teeth,
and
his cock. She was triply screwed, maybe even screwed quadruple when she took into account her brain because there was a total mind fuck happening here, too.  He lifted her leg up to rest her heel on his shoulder as he pushed into her and reached over and pierced her calf with his teeth.

When she had her third orgasm she really didn’t think she could take much more.  He looked so thoroughly pleased with himself, his demeanour reminded her of ownership. He
so
owned her right now. He finally climaxed and she was relieved, exasperated. He collapsed onto the bed beside her and the cockiness disappeared as he stared at her with a tender look on his face, “
So
keeping you.”

Those words hit her like a slap. She bolted upright and started hyperventilating.

Tristan’s eyes flickered with confusion for a beat.  He flicked the lamp on. The white sheets had bloody smears all over the place.  There were a few old ones from earlier that day but plenty of fresh streaks. She started frantically examining her body wherever she could see marks but nothing she could see was still bleeding. He had licked every wound and it had made the bleeding stop. But there were bite marks liberally on her body and on a few of them that she could see, there were hickies around some of the bites, where he’d sucked too hard or for too long.

I might have to kill you? I might have to keep you?
So
keeping you? I so need to get out of Dodge.

“You okay? Damn!” He surveyed the damage on her skin. Her limbs felt weak again, wet noodles would’ve held up better, stronger. Kyla looked at the inside of her wrist. The fang marks were unmistakable.

His words,
keeping you,
echoed in her mind. She started to tremble and bile started to rise in her throat.

“It’s okay,” he grabbed her, “You’re just a bit weak. Lie down.”

“I, I need the bathroom. I’m gonna throw up.”

“I’ll help you.”

He carried her into the bathroom and carefully set her on her feet.

“I’m okay,” Kyla waved him out feebly. He looked at her with concern.

“I’m fine,” she insisted but as the words were barely out of her mouth she started to violently throw up in the toilet. She felt terribly weak and suspected that in addition to seeing all those marks on her own body, her blood trickling out, that she’d overdone it with that meal and all that wine. Plus there were her shattered nerves as she was waiting anxiously all evening for her chance to slip out onto that terrace to try the other doors. His declaration had been the straw that broke the proverbial camel’s back, apparently.

She felt him behind her. He was holding her hair back for her and rubbing her back.

“Thanks,” she muttered and flushed the toilet. He stepped out.

She splashed water on her face and then brushed her teeth with her own toothbrush, which was sitting beside his. She hadn’t put it there.  She let out a sigh seeing what looked like another sign of his plans to ‘keep her’ and then walked back into the bedroom, wrapped in a towel. She found her shorts and tank top within the jumble of blankets. He disappeared into the washroom.

After she got back into the clothes she stared down at the mess of the bed, the blood streaks. Parts of the sheets almost looked tie dyed white and red.

Tristan walked back in and sat down on the bed. Then his gaze followed her eyes to the stains and then he got back up. “Maybe I should change these. Not that I’m not okay sleeping in sheets drenched in your delicious blood.” He kissed her on the shoulder and then started to pull the sheets back.

Kyla flinched at his touch and started to fret, worrying that he would find her clothes under the bed. She started to help him pull the sheets off, staying on the side of the bed near her stash.

“You’re too weak. Sit; I’ll do it,” he looked at her strangely.

“No, I’m… I’m okay.”

He eyed her with his brows furrowed and shook his head, “You’re not.”

She shook her head and shrugged at the same time. He let out a little sigh and then walked over to the walk-in closet and came back with a new set of sheets. They were dove gray and silky.

Kyla stayed on that side of the bed and tried to help him make it.

“Get in,” he ordered after the sheet and pillowcases were on. Kyla felt a lump in her throat. Did he suspect she was about to try to escape? He flicked the top sheet and then the large duvet over top of her and tucked her in. A goofy smile spread across his face that made him seem boyish. He pounced in and snuggled into her, kissed her forehead, and then looked at her with concern for a moment, “You okay?”

The bed felt so fresh, like it was hugging her. She was suddenly bone tired.

“Uh huh. What time is it?”

“Almost 4. Keeping vampire hours, are we?” he arched a brow.

Kyla tried to smile but it wasn’t very sincere and they both knew it. Tristan flicked the lamp off and let out a long yawn, stretching his arms high above his head and cracking his knuckles.

“You gave me quite a workout tonight.” he leaned over and tucked her hair behind her ear.

“Ditto,” she said softly.

“Thirsty? I should get you some water or juice. Gravol?”

“No, just tired.”

“Weight of the world on your shoulders?” he gathered her close. She felt her eyes droop as her cheek landed on his warm chest. She had to stay awake so she could slip out the door and see what was what out there. She could feel his heart beating and knew if she wasn’t focused it’d lull her to sleep. He was so warm and the way he smelled…a tear rolled down her cheek and landed on his chest.

He sighed, “I’m over the defiance bit, baby. Stop fighting, okay? Let this happen. It feels right, doesn’t it? Give it a chance. Let yourself be mine.”

She said nothing but felt numbness spread over her body and had to hold back emotion. The room started to spin a little. She turned away from him and over onto her stomach and closed her eyes tight and took a few deep breaths. He put his leg over hers, locking her in. A king-size bed and he was right against her.

Within a few minutes she could hear his breathing patterns even out and she knew he was asleep. With his leg draped over her thigh, an arm around he, and his breath tickling the back of her neck she felt like she was in a cage. She decided to wait there for 20 minutes, hoping that would be enough time for him to get into a deep enough sleep before moving away. She was so tired. He was so warm and comfy.

A cuddly vampire. Who knew? And he wants me to be his? What does that even mean? A permanent all he can drink and fuck buffet, stuck in his bedroom?

Now would be a great time to get out of here away from this cuddly, possessive, and maniacal vampire. If she waited much longer she’d be asleep. It was late enough that the others in the house, if there were any, would hopefully be asleep and with Tristan just falling asleep he probably wouldn’t be awake for a while.

Or, wait. Dealing with vampires here, Kyla; duh!

Would the other vampires be awake until dawn? She didn’t know but hoped they were all asleep so it could give her a good head start. She had absolutely no idea where she was, how far from home she was or if Daisy would even let her in after having been hypnotised or whatever.

Maybe it would be smart to stay away from the apartment. Tristan would probably look there first. She’d be running into pre-dawn without any money or anything else. She had no plan whatsoever. It didn’t matter, though. She had to go, try and see if she could get out through the terrace. If she succeeded she could figure the rest out later. Maybe once she got away from him reason would return.

A few minutes later, after she counted to 60 Mississippi somewhere around 20 times (she kept losing count because of all that was on her mind) and felt like she was on the verge of madness she finally got the nerve to pull away from him and inched off the edge of the bed over a course of a few moments. It seemed smarter than simply jumping out of bed.  He didn’t move. She didn’t have much room, though, as they’d been close to the edge as it was.

Her heart started to thump a bit louder and she was getting a tension headache. She tried to calm it with a few breaths and inched farther away.  He stirred a little and reached in her direction. She pushed a pillow over toward him. His hand landed on it and that seemed, for the moment, to work. Kyla carefully got out of the bed and crouched onto the floor. Her knees cracked and she winced at how loud it was.

Carefully she reached under the bed and grabbed her flip flops and clothes and balled them up together under her arm in a football hold. Damn, she was sore and her knees were a little bit shaky. She tiptoed toward the balcony door. He hadn’t moved. He looked so peaceful, so handsome.

She stared at his sleeping form for a minute.

This might be goodbye gorgeous cuddly desserty vampire prince.

She felt a strange sensation, like pain and loss sweep through her, as she backed away from him. She held her breath to prevent a sob from escaping. Her eyes welled up with tears. She looked out the window and saw that the light across the way was out, which felt like confirmation that Tristan had been there earlier and it was not a bedroom of one of the other guys.  She hoped she was right. Slowly she turned the door handle and backed outside. Then she carefully closed it behind her.

Her chest felt tight and sore; inhaling brought sharp pain. She didn’t let herself exhale too fully yet. She felt terror spread through her body. She pushed it away.

Hold it together, Kyla!

She inched along slowly on the balcony, making her way down toward the guest room’s terrace doors. After she passed those doors she looked ahead. Directly on the opposite junction of the rectangle she saw the set of doors to where the light had been on earlier. Her heart felt like it was beating in her ears. She took a mouthful of air in and tried to erase the image of his eyes from her mind.  She had to go, regardless of the fact that right now she felt like she was being pulled back toward that bed by magnets. It felt like every vein in her body was throbbing and aching and reaching back toward that bed.

She thought that this could still be blocked by the gates, she wasn’t sure, and felt discombobulated so she decided to keep going to the opposite end to where she’d seen the light earlier. As she rounded that corner she could see that there was a drop-down ladder that she would have to pass. Should she take it instead?

She had no idea if it would make noise or not so she decided to keep walking and stick with the original plan. Before taking another step, though, she quickly got into her track pants and hoodie and stuffed her flip flops into the kangaroo pouch of the hoodie. They wouldn’t do her any good right now, would probably just slow her down, so she’d put them on once she got outside the house.

She tried to remain calm and steady even though she felt so weak and ill from all the blood loss and retching. Her body pleaded with her to give up and try tomorrow instead. Something else in her pleaded with her to give up and try never instead. She heard him in her mind, remembered when he’d said, “I’ve got you,” but pushed any emotions those words wanted to stir up away. She pushed ahead and finally she was at the set of doors. She peered in the window and although it was dark there was a faint glow under a desk credenza giving off enough light that she wouldn’t likely trip over anything in there. It was an office and it looked unoccupied. She pulled on the latch. It didn’t budge. It was locked.

Fuck!

Her heart started to race as she pondered what to do next. Should she go back?

Wait…
Yes!

The window directly adjacent to the door was open about 2 inches. There was a screen. Kyla ripped at the screen and the mesh dug into her fingers.

Don’t bleed, Kyla, don’t bleed!

She saw the threat of vampires coming from every angle in her mind the second she spilled a drop of blood. Maybe that wasn’t the case. Maybe it was. She didn’t want to chance it. She pulled her fingers back, turtling them into her hoodie sleeve and tried to pinch through the fabric to rip a hole into the screen or rip the screen off the frame. She just needed enough room to get her wrist in and push through and unlock the door.
