“According to the statistics of the B.C. Masters Outdoor Track and Field Records by B.C. Master Record Director Harold Morioka, new records set in 2009 (as of December 01, 2009) show that Olga Kotelko (W90) has broken WR’s 30, CR’s 47 and BC records 47 times. Olga has set-broke “new” 10 WR’s , 12 CR’s and 12 B.C. records. Amazing! What an achievement for a 90 year-old female
athlete.
“This was the first time ever that a 90 year-old female athlete jumped 3 jumps – high jump (0.82m), long jump (1.77m) and triple jump (4.25m) – quite an amazing standard. Every jump obviously is a World
Record”.
(For an athlete to get one World Record in a lifetime is an
accomplishment.)
Hammer Throw is my favorite event. I want to show you what fun I have throwing the
hammer.
Hammer Throw – when 4 years older I threw 2.49m farther (W85-89) 2007 – 88 years
old
XVI WMA Riccioni, Italy – Hammer Throw 14.22m (W90-94) 2009 – 90 years
old
WMA Games, Sydney, Australia – Hammer Throw – 17.11m (W90-94) 2011 – 92 years
old
WMA T&F Championships, Sacramento, California – Hammer Throw 16.71m
Not too shabby! As of today, December 2, 2013, medal total is 717 gold, 26 silver, 8
bronze.
Interviews
I was dazed and overwhelmed by all the attention and affection coming my way since
The New York Times Magazine
published the article “The Incredible Flying Nonagenarian” in November 28, 2010 written by Bruce Grierson. This media experience was not exactly easy. However I persisted and carried on forward. It was the most different period in my life. I might have missed acknowledging some of my appointments and I apologize. To date I am still involved periodically with the
media.
