Parting Chances (Fighting Chance #1) (30 page)

This book was an emotional journey for me to write. I never imagined I would sob while writing some of these scenes. But I did…a lot.

I couldn’t have even begun to write it and get that deep into the story if it wasn’t for my own mom. I may have only had 10 years with her on this Earth, but I cherished every moment of them. A lot of these scenes were ones I wish I could have had with her. So I made them happen in this book.

Thank you Mom, for instilling the love of reading in me. I love you. I miss you.

My family - Thank you for your support when I released Choose Us. And for reading (or attempting to read) the book. That means so much. And Christopher, I can’t even begin to thank you for purchasing all those paperback copies and just giving them away. You are an amazing big brother.

Hales - Once again, I couldn’t have done it without you. Without your daily, weekly, monthly support. I don’t know who else would put up with receiving chapters out of order or with month long gaps in between. Thank you for working out issues that I had with the story. For letting me steal your name for my main character… and for allowing that one scene to stay in the book. I swear, that was the day I realized our friendship was an amazing one!

The Rebel Writers - Who would have thought that one year ago, I would barely know any of you and today you are some of my closest friends. You continue to push me and make me a better author. And I’m still probably going to throat punch a majority of you for your next books. Just saying.

Cassie - OMG woman! At first I wanted to cry when I got your notes, it was all so overwhelming. But once reading through, I realized you were making my story so much stronger. I don’t even know how to thank you for what you brought to this book. For editing it in two freaking days. Seriously, you are amazing.

Yesenia - Thank you for proofreading this story. You were the first person who I didn’t know personally to read this, and I was terrified. But your notes made me all giddy! Also, I clearly hate commas. Sorry about that.

Nicole - Thanks for being patient with me and working through all my crazy cover ideas. This cover is amazing and absolutely perfect for the story!

Kathryn, Leigh, Elizabeth, Lenore - I’m glad I made you cry. Ha! Thank you so much for reading it before anyone else…and before it was edited. Your feedback was amazing and I’m just so happy you didn’t throat punch me.

And Kathryn, thanks for naming Chapman University. I’m sure when you won the contest you thought your name would be used as a friendly character. I’m sorry I had to use your name for that horrible woman. You’re a sweetheart. Character Kathryn is not.

Lilly and Josh - Oh boy, the journey was tough this time through. But thank you for letting Mommy write. And for wanting to sit on my lap at the desk, even though I never got any writing done.

Chris - I love you. Thank you for coming home after a long day at work and taking care of the kids so I can write a little. For doing the dishes when they are piling over because I neglected them that day for my characters. For all your support throughout this year.

All of You - For taking a chance and reading this story. And for reading Choose Us, if you have. Never in a million years would I think I would become an author. It was always a dream. But
you guys
made this dream a reality and now my job is to write. You have no idea how much I love you all.

Born and raised in the frozen tundra of Wisconsin (Packers Nation for all you non-football fans), Caylie fell in love with reading at a young age. With her lively imagination, she created numerous stories in her head throughout her childhood and teenage years.

Her first novel, Choose Us, released in April 2014 and became an Amazon Bestseller. Parting Chances is her second novel and first in the Fighting Chance series.

When she isn’t slaving away at the keyboard, Caylie is an avid reader, and lover of coffee… copious amounts of coffee. She also has an unhealthy addiction to coffee mugs, chapstick, water bottles, football, and tv shows—binge watching is her favorite.

She chases her two kids around the house all day, and has a husband whom she adores.

And I love interacting with my readers! Feel free to message me or Facebook me to talk about the book, ask question, or chat about…anything! I’m game for it all. You guys are awesome! I can be found online at:
