She giggled. “Won’t that be rude? Since this is for us, after all.”

“They won’t mind. We’re newly mated. It’s expected.”

“Okay. I’ll race you.”

Tori shot out of her chair and took off running into the trees in
the direction of their cabin. Memphis surged to his feet. He looked at his
family and shrugged before he went wolf and took off after his mate. The sound
of his pack’s laughter followed him as he gave chase.

He spotted Tori up ahead, but didn’t try to catch her. He’d let her
arrive at their cabin first. Even though he’d lose, he’d still win. He’d have
his mate in his arms and in his bed, exactly where she belonged.
