I laughed out loud.
I looked at the clock on the table—1:53.
I took several breaths. “We’re up.”
She nodded and hooked her arm around mine guiding me out of the room. We were almost to the door leading out to the dock when she pulled me to a stop.
“Ok. I’ll never fucking admit to this. Do you hear me?”
I nodded.
She looked me dead in the eye. “I love you, Em and I only want you to be happy. You have a heart of gold and you deserve someone who will appreciate that. I pray to God that Cailen is it. But regardless I am always here for you.”
I smiled willing the tears to stay at bay. She gave me a curt nod then pulled me toward the door. She stood at the entrance for several minutes until a woman with an ear- piece motioned her forward.
A few minutes later that same woman walked through the door and took my hand. “Hi Emberly. Are you ready?”
“Fuck yes.” I sighed.
She laughed and spoke quickly into her lapel mic. Moments later I heard the music switch and she ushered me out the door.
When I began my decent to the dock I looked over at the seats lined in rows by the water. My mouth dropped when I took in the amount. There were at least a hundred and fifty people crowded in rows all watching me stumble over the coble rocks.
I felt the flush over my chest and the heat in my face as I continued my trek across the massive lawn.
That’s when I started cursing Cailen for the idea of having me walk this enormous path.
Finally after they had to play the fucking song over twice I reached the dock. When I saw him standing at the end with a beautiful smile and a tailored tux I didn’t even take in the velvet black carpet or the thousands of orchids lining the path. It was just his eyes that I saw and it was my mission to make my way to his side.
If there were ever a case of eye fucking it happened to me on my journey down the carpet. His eyes burned each time I took a step. He stared me down roving over my dress. When I was fairly close I knew exactly when he saw my nipple rings because his mouth dropped into an o and his eyes turned into hooded shutters.
That made me giggle just as I stepped to his side and he took my hand. Lila was standing beside me staring daggers at Cailen and Alick was on his other side giving me appreciative glances and smiling with true pride. I felt like I was watching a tennis tournament taking in the looks from each direction.
The minister began his speech and we stood as close as possible to one another. Each time I looked over I caught him eyeing another part of my anatomy. At one point I raised my heel and rammed it into his shoe when I noticed he was staring at my tits and licking his lips.
He sucked in a breath and whispered, “Sorry, love.”
Lila handed me several tissues during the vows. They got me, especially when Cailen added a few of his own.
Then the minister said a few parting words and when he pronounced us husband and wife Cailen grabbed me under my arms and threw me into the air kissing me fiercely when my lips fell onto his.
When I broke the kiss he leaned into my ear and whispered, “You took my breath away when I saw you come out of that door. I can’t describe how beautiful you are right now, Em. You’re just fucking gorgeous and now you are
mine
.” He pulled back and gripped my face to devour me in front of all the screaming Scots on the lawn.
I pulled back and raised a brow. “The exact same can now be said about you. You are mine and that comes with a price let me tell you.”
He gave me the goofiest grin then said, “I’ll fucking pay it, love. Whatever it is it’s yours.”
I laughed and kissed him quickly on the lips as I pulled him toward the rambunctious drunk mob.
Kincaid was the first to pull me into a bone-crushing hug. “Congratulation, Emberly! Keep that asshole in line, would ya?” He teased.
I smiled and was passed to Rory who offered me a congratulations and a kiss to the cheek. I squealed when Mac spun me around several times before setting me back on the ground and planting a kiss right to my lips.
Alick walked over and punched him hard in the arm then turned to me. “Welcome to our little family, Emberly. I’m honored to have you.”
My throat swelled and I wrapped my arms around his neck. “Thank you, Alick. It’s good to be a part of a family but it’s the best to be a part of this one.” I pulled back and smiled.
Lila stood to the side with a scowl. I tilted my head and walked over. “Take Kincaid to the fucking bathroom and screw his brains out already. You are driving me NUTS!”
She screeched a laugh. “Fuck you.”
“I love you, too bitch.”
She smiled and pulled me into a tight hug.
Cailen tapped me on the arm. “Are you ready for a drink, sweetheart? I have a room set up inside for all of us to celebrate before we go to the tent. Is that ok?”
I grinned. “Lead the way husband.”
“Fuck I love the sound of that.”
He grabbed my hand and led us into the house. Kincaid had glasses for everyone already lined up and full. Two were passed to Cailen and I.
Alick raised his glass. “To my brother, may you be as happy everyday as you are today. You are the bravest most kind person I’ve ever met and I am proud to call you my friend.” He tipped his drink then looked at me. “To Emberly, thank you for loving him the way he always deserved to be loved. I wish you all the happiness this life has to offer.” Everyone toasted and began drinking. Alick spoke again. “And may you always be his ‘Pretty Bitch’.”
I choked on my drink and Cailen yelled laughing. I looked over and even Lila was grinning. It was perfect.
After we successfully downed two bottles of whisky Cailen gripped my hand and began leading us out the door. When we stepped onto the grass screams erupted and congratulations rained from the crowd.
I was lifted and spun more than Ginger Rogers. It was clear that Cailen had done things right in his life. These people adored him and I couldn’t have been more proud.
At one point a stab of loneliness crept in because I literally had two people that had ever really cared about me and they were standing on either side. My horrible attitude and terrible reputation had exiled everyone I’d ever met.
Regret burned my body.
Cailen reached for my face. “Gemma, talk to me. What’s wrong? Is it me? Did I do something.” His eyes were sad.
I shook my head closing my eyes. “No. You are the only thing right in my life.” I touched his cheek. “I love you.”
He smiled wide. “I love you too, Emberly Carmichael.”
I sighed. “That sounds so fucking awesome.”
At that moment we were ushered away by the planner for the cake cutting. We reached the monstrous eight-tiered monstrosity and I cut my eyes. Cailen smiled sheepishly and gripped my waist. I was handed the cutter and messily carved out a huge piece of fluffy white cake with rich whipped icing.
I took my hand and scooped up a mass of icing and proceeded to shove it into his mouth smearing his face and licking his lips.
He never complained.
Once that was over I was able to fully appreciate the spread Cailen had arranged. There were equal amounts of identically decorated tables spaced throughout the tent. A beautiful ice sculpture with a running fountain anchored the center and a massive dance floor circled the area. A huge band was seated in the corner playing a plethora of music. Servers were moving effortlessly through the crowds with trays of drinks. Out friends were laughing heartily and people were mingling everywhere.
I let out a breath of contentment. What a perfect day.
“Where do you want to go on your honeymoon, beautiful?” He asked kissing my neck and running his tongue lightly up the back of my neck.
I shivered.
“Bed.” I whispered breathlessly.
He groaned. “That’s definitely where we are starting but I want to take you somewhere special. Anywhere.”
“I’ve been everywhere, bagpipe, just as long as I’m with you and I have your cock’s full attention I will be happy.”
“You are going to be the happiest woman on earth then.” He lilted.
I grinned. “That’s what I’m counting on.”
He laughed into my ear. “I need to tell you that my cock is still hard from seeing your nipple rings sparkle in the sun when you walked down the isle. It was fucking awesome.”
“I know.” I smirked.
He grabbed my ass and I felt his fingers close to my glory hole. I gasped loud and he chuckled in my ear. “Just wait, love.”
I purred and he nearly scooped me off the floor and ran for the door.
I chuckled. “I’m kinda scared what we will have waiting for us.” I admitted.
He made a face. “What do you mean?”
“Well, we are both going to be worked up into a frenzy and by the time we get naked we may just fucking kill each other with passion.”
He laughed louder than I’d ever heard. “I’ll die a happy man, gorgeous.”
“Ditto.”
We stood laughing and staring at each other when Alick walked over and gave me a hug.
“Thank you.” He said simply.
“For what?”
I stuttered.
He grinned. “For loving that bastard. He’s the best man I’ve ever known and he will love you and take care of you until the day he dies, Emberly.”
I looked over at Cailen who was laughing with Rory. “I know. As will I.” I looked back at Alick and he smiled handing me a huge glass of whisky. “Thank you!” I huffed.
“Anytime, sis.” He smiled.
Over the next hour I was passed and poked by just about every individual attending. I learned that Cailen Carmichael is not only a heartbreaker but he is an excellent businessman and true friend. There were several women that offered heartless congratulations accompanied by scowls and sneers.
I just smiled. Nothing could nor would ruin this day because he was my angel. Just as I was being groped by an eager elderly man Cailen secured my hand and wrapped his hands around my waist. I grinned and looked around at his face.
He smiled. “You are going to have every fucking man needing a pace-maker, love. It’s just not fair.” He joked.
“Oh stop. You’re just horny.” I grumbled.
“And you could take care of that right now, Gemma.” He mused.
“How about I service myself and you watch?”
It looked as though Cailen had a stroke. His eyes turned black his mouth slacked and his breathing stopped.
In other words, I couldn’t have been more entertained.
I just snorted into my glass and drained the contents. He still hadn’t recovered when Lila came to kidnap me. I touched my forefinger to the tip of his shocked nose and strode into the masses.
Lila yanked me onto the dance floor for several off-color songs until the band finally made it into the twenty first century and belted out a little Barbara Streisand. I can’t tell you how happy that made me.
We drunkenly belted the lyrics and gyrated our hips to the tunes. Then when a familiar song pierced the tent my eyes searched for my prince. He surprised me from behind and wound his arms around my waist as he pulled me hard into his hips.
