That was fine with Matt. He was making a bundle. They had more than they needed. Actually, all he needed was Charlotte. Where was she?

There she was! After a year of marriage, his heart still leaped in his chest when he saw her. She was walking up the sidewalk, as beautiful as always. He frowned. She wasn’t walking, she was . . . ambling. With no sense that she was half an hour late to the opening of her own show.

What the—?

Matt met her halfway and she took his arm, still at that strolling pace. “You’re late,” Matt said.

“Mmm,” she answered, with a dreamy smile on her face.

“Ah, Charlotte?”

She turned that smile on him. “Yes?”

“Why are you late for your own show?”

“I had a doctor’s appointment. It took longer than I thought.”

“Jesus.” He stopped abruptly, panic seizing him. “You’re not sick, are you?” Just the thought of it made him break out into a sweat.

She laughed and tugged his head down for a resounding smack of a kiss. “No, darling, I’m not sick. As a matter of fact, I’m . . . embarking upon a new creative endeavour.” She stuck her sharp little elbow into his side. “And it’s a coproduction.”
