Layla stepped back to a standing ovation, and Gage met her onstage, tears in his eyes. She rested her head on his chest, his heartbeat the only noise she could hear. Everything else was quiet. Being quiet was no longer the enemy, the thing her half-brother demanded, the thing that kept her imprisoned. It was now her friend, her peace, the thing she wanted more than anything else in the world. To rest quietly in a man’s arms was home.
Many thanks to the makers of Jack Daniel’s because this book would not have seen the light of day without it. More importantly, many thanks to my dear husband for his tireless support and encouragement. Also thanks to my children for their patience and good listening when I told them not to read over my shoulder. A huge shout out to my sister, Kathy, and childhood friend, Dani Lee, for their helpful feedback and encouraging words. Thank you to Laura Hidalgo at Book Fabulous Designs for my wonderful cover, which I just love. Thank you to Scandalicious Book Reviews for their support since the beginning. Lastly, thank you to everyone who read my first two books,
First Position
and
Perfectly Broken
. I am very grateful and moved by the response both books have received. Thank you!
