“Are you fucking serious?” He shrugged his shoulders then stood up and took my folded dress from my hands

“I don’t bite, Avery.” I was a woman with a boyfriend and he knew it. I wasn't the usual girl that normally followed him through CJ's. My night was getting more and more bizarre. I was never going with Natalia again. In fact I would never be doing
anything
with Natalia ever again, since I was killing her in the morning! “You really think I’ll make a move on you huh.”

I just shrugged my shoulders as he held his hand out to help me from the couch. “I know how you are, Davien, I’ve watched you at CJ’s”

“You obviously don’t know me well then.” He pulled my hand causing me to follow him. “I sent shots to your table to loosen up, not to take advantage of you. I won’t have sex with you until you’re sober.”

I pulled back from his hand. “I’m through.”

“I’m just playing, Avery.” And he gripped my hand back, pulling me towards the dark kitchen. “Unless you want.” I used my free hand to smack his back.

I couldn’t believe I was following him to his bedroom. I don't know if it was the alcohol causing me to follow him, the point of no choice or the desire of wanting. I had never in my entire life felt so awkward. I was killing Natalia as soon as the sun came out in the morning. “I hope you have clean sheets. I’m not sleeping in sheets that you just had sex in.”

He laughed. “Avery, I don’t bring girls home. I’m only doing you a favor.” This was no favor. A favor for me, was to get on his bike and have him drop me off a block from my house. Anthony would never find out and everything would be back to normal.

The basement was dark until we reached his bedroom. As he turned the light switch on, I glanced over the room. His bed was well made up and his very spacious room was decorated with framed black and white pictures of famous singers, most from decades ago. “I like your pictures.” I pointed to the walls.

He sat on the edge of the bed. “Thanks, I’ve been collecting them since I was in middle school.” He tapped the bed. “Sit down, we can talk for awhile. He turned a lamp on that sat on his nightstand then flipped the over head light off. I lowered myself cautiously to the opposite side of the bed. He slipped under the covers as I watched him “Lay down, Avery. You can’t sleep sitting on the edge of the bed.”

As I positioned myself to get comfortable, I shook the pillow in place and imagined how many girls would dream to be in my place right now. I was dancing with this man only a couple of hours ago and I was innocently falling in love. No, no I wasn’t I was just having fun. No I wasn’t, he was gorgeous, was beyond gorgeous there was no word to describe Davien Dodge. He was unique. As soon as I let my head touch the pillow, he turned the side lamp off. I knew I was imagining things and in reality he was probably annoyed by me. I was sure he was tired from a long night on stage. He was probably ready for bed when we had arrived at the apartment, just willing to cover for Scott.

If I laid there quiet enough I would soon hear him snore. Then I started wondering if a man that looked like Davien would actually snore. With a voice like his, would his body allow him to make obscene noises in his sleep. Did he drool in his sleep, did he grind his teeth, did he make awkward sounds while he slept? Would I? Now I couldn’t imagine allowing myself to close my eyes. I laid there quiet as I waited for him to pass out. If I was quiet enough, he would finally fall asleep. It felt like hours before I even moved. “Wanna talk?” He startled me when he spoke.

I heard the vibrations in the bed as he laughed over my surprise. “Um sure” I tried to be cautious.  “Do I get to ask the questions this time? Since the FBI already learned my whole life story upstairs.” He was going to wish he would’ve left me on the couch. He had no idea what type of questions I would start with.

“Sure, ask away.” He said immediately with no worry

“Okay, um, do you have a girlfriend?”

“Why does every woman have to ask that?” He said with laughter in his voice, but proudly answered. “No, I don’t.” Now he caught me off guard.

“So how many of the girls at the bar tonight that you were flirting with, have you slept with?” I don’t think I really wanted to know the answer to that. And if he had he wasn’t going to be truthful.

“As many as I want”. Gross that was just fucking gross as many women dangled at his arms.

“Okay, so you flirted with me, are you planning on sleeping with me tonight?” Why in the hell would I ask the man a question like that. But it just came out. Okay Avery you were in the most awkward position of your life and now you just made it worse. If that was even possible.

“Trick question. I’m sleeping with you right now, well technically weren’t not sleeping yet, but I plan on it.” He laughed.

“You know what I mean, Davien, be honest” I poked at him.

“You want me to be honest? I will tell you the truth. No I don’t plan on having sex with you, if that’s what you meant. That’s not why you are here.” His voice was raspy and sexy. He spent a long few seconds inhaling deep into his lungs and my stomach turned in knots as I embarrassed myself for even assuming there was a possibility. I felt very stupid and uncomfortable as he was surely amused at my assumptions. “But, Avery, I will spend all night dreaming I did.” Oh my God!

I was done with the questions. “All right I guess I’ve asked enough.”

“My turn.” He chuckled over exaggeratedly. “I was completely honest with all of my answers whether or not my face turned red in the dark. I expect you to do the exact same thing.”

No I was done with the game. I was finally able to go to sleep. I turned over avoiding the conversation. I lay quietly trying to focus on my breathing. I was sure he could hear my fast breathing and my shakes through the bed. He got close to me and wrapped one arm around my waist as he spooned against me. I could feel the warmth from his chest against my shaky back. I was completely shocked at his move and as badly as I didn't want the feel of Davien Dodge, my body was craving.

“I have one question, Avery, and one question only. You answer completely honestly and I won’t ask another one.” He continued. “You
have
to be honest though. I will know if you lie.”

His arm wrapped around my waist, pulling his body against my hot skin. I was confused .
He
confused me. One moment I thought this was completely innocent, the next minute I felt like he wanted much more. Actually I really did feel it as he scoot even closer and I could make out a slight protrusion under his pants.  But this time I didn’t want his arm to move and I didn’t try and he didn’t offer to move it. “Okay
One
question then we’re done. Make it good.”

“I sure will. You promise to tell the truth?” I nodded my head enough so he could feel it against him as I lay my head against his chest. “If you could have one night as a single woman, would you sleep with me? More than sleep, would you have sex with me?”

There was no way I could answer this so I sat quietly, looking at the ceiling for long minutes, trying to come up with an honest answer. One that he would believe. I tried to catch my breath, but my breathing was forceful. With a timid sound, I whispered. “Yes, Davien, I would.”

He wrapped his arm tighter around my waist and made no attempt to go further with me.  I fell asleep in his arms.

The next morning I woke in Davien’s bed. Oh my God, I was in Davien Dodge's bed. My head was throbbing and my eyes were glued shut. I felt at my clothes and my clothes were still on. The bed was empty and I wondered if Davien had actually slept in the bed all night.

I sat up slowly and tried to remember my way upstairs. The alcohol the night before had left my mind blank. I was half way up the stairs when I remembered the last sentence before falling asleep. Now I had to face the man.

The top of the stairs led into the kitchen where Davien was already standing. His elbows were resting on the counter and his head was face down in his hands. He was facing the opposite direction when I stepped in. “Good morning.”

He turned in surprise from my voice. “Good morning, did I wake you?”

“No.” I looked around the room. “Where’s Natalia and Scott?”

He rubbed at his eyes. “Still knocked out.” He smiled. He looked amazing, still only wearing pajama bottoms, but he had slept with wet hair, leaving a messy hair look. It was different than what I was used to, but he looked wonderful. A little bit of hair had grown along his jawline revealing an even more masculine look. What I was used to? I barely knew the man. I met him last weekend. But it felt like forever. I felt like we had a relationship that grew years ago. After last night, I felt different with him. And I couldn’t tell if that was better or worse. I only knew that it wasn’t the same and it never would be. “Hungry?”

“Just hung over.” I sat on a chair and my arm fell bent on the kitchen table. I rest my head over it. “Someone sent shots to me all night as he drank a beer and one drink at home.”

Releasing a devilish chuckle. “I had two beers before you arrived at the bar, one while you were there and my glass at home wasn’t the same as yours last night.” He smiled when I looked up. “I had a tall glass of vodka… straight.” The picture came back to my mind from last night. He was just about to walk to the shower when he downed the rest of his drink and it left him in shivers. Obviously it wasn't the same as mine.

I shook my head in my arm. “You’re probably feeling as shitty as me.”

“No, I slept better last night than I’ve slept in years sweet heart.” I knew what he meant and at that point I knew we had slept together all night. I totally understood. After the truth came out, I felt more relaxed and I believe he did also.

Davien insisted on making breakfast for us. “I’ll drop you off and save Natalia a stop. Scott can take her to her car when she wakes up.” He looked up from his plate of scrambled eggs and sausage. “Unless you want to spend the day here. You’re more than welcome to stay all day.”

“I really need to go home.” I hadn't checked my cell phone since last night and the house phone was probably filled with missed calls.

“Got big plans?” I shook my head softly to his question. “Then why not? I could use the company.”

“Um.. I just need to get some things done around the house.” He shook his head as if he was upset with me. I was sure being the popular bad boy rock star Davien had much more interesting things to 'handle' besides me.

I stayed for the next hour as Natalia continued sleeping in. I even wondered if she really was in Scott’s room or if they had left all night, leaving me alone with Mr. Gorgeous. We were just approaching my street when I realized I had never told him where I lived.

I was holding his waist tight when he started to speak over the noise from his bike. “Just remember, Avery, you deserve better.” He was quiet for a moment. “And I was honest with your questions and I hope your were also.” I was kind of hoping it was all in my head that either I was drunk and making things up or maybe, just maybe he was drunk enough to have forgot. But he didn’t.

We pulled into my driveway and I lowered my hands from his waist. “Thanks for the ride.”

“You coming out next weekend?”

“No I can’t.”

“We’ll see.” He smiled as I walked to the door . I heard the roar from his bike as I unlocked the door. Hoping the moment I stepped inside, the memories would fade.

My house was empty, just as I had left it. I checked the answering machine to see if Anthony had called the house. No message. The caller id didn’t even show any missed calls.

All of the sudden I felt alone. I felt odd. I felt out of place. I was back to my life, not the life from yesterday. I looked around the house, wishing that Anthony was at least home to keep me company. But the guilt washed over me. As much of an ass he was to me, he was a good man and I had betrayed him. If he knew that I slept in the same bed as another man, our relationship would be over. And he was my everything. I wasn’t like my friends because I didn’t have a parent’s home to run to. I couldn’t afford to take care of myself. I was stuck and I was in love. I had a whole life ahead of me.
