Book Three in the Beast Masters Series

Utan
oversees one of the houses of pleasure on planet
Ralen
.
He does the duty required of him but harbors no desire to find release in a
woman many seek comfort for coin with. When his brother asks for his help in
finding a small slip of a woman who came from a slave trader vessel,
Utan
rushes to aid
Altan
. He
wasn’t in search of a mate, a woman of his own, but he can’t resist the urge to
lay claim to her even at the expense of his brother’s future.

Reya
had it all. The promise of love, of a future, of happiness. It was all based on
lies. Lies that left her in the hands of slave traders. When she finds herself
on a strange planet with powerful men who can shift into beasts and who are in
the market for strong stock to serve their every sexual whim, she knows she’ll
be given back to the traders to face certain death, so she makes a run for
it—straight into the arms of two brothers. One who owns a brothel and the other
who fights his inner beast with all he has. The three of them must find a way
to come together if they’re to make it work. Unfortunately, not everyone has
their best interests at heart.

Warning: Novella contains graphic language, MF and MFM
interactions, light BDSM play/themes, an alpha male shifter who wants to collar
his woman, brand her as his for the rest of their lives, a woman willing to
submit, and scorching hot sex scenes. If you don’t like strong men who take
control in the bedroom and sometimes out, or if you’re in the market for long,
drawn-out plots, this isn’t the series for you. This novella is hot and dirty
and won’t apologize for that fact.

Disclaimer: This book is a work of fiction and is not meant
to be a how-to book or a manual to the BDSM/fetish lifestyle. It is merely
meant to be read and provide a mental escape for your enjoyment. Always
practice safe sex and never enter into BDSM play without proper knowledge and
understanding of the lifestyle and a trained, trusted practitioner to guide you
through it all. Serious injury or death could result from improper BDSM/fetish
play. Safe, sane and consensual (SSC) is a must. The Raven Books and its
authors, owners and operators are not responsible for any injuries or death
that may occur from improper use of techniques or information found within this

Dedication

To my beta readers—
Mandi
, Chloe,
Tawania
,
Angie, Julie, Tracie and Jess. Thank you for all you do. Your support and
ability to kick my muse right in the butt is amazing! To my editor,
Suz Gower,
without your guidance I’d be “lost in space”. To Dianne B. for making sure all
the changes are where they should be. Last but not least, to my readers who
don’t mind me writing what I want to write. Thank you all so very much!

Chapter One

Planet
Ralen

Utan
of
Ralen
, clan family
Euntin
,
listened as the commanding officer for the sector spoke of the upcoming week’s
itinerary. Men were due back from outlying planets and would require time
within the walls of
Utan’s
House of Pleasure.

He nodded to
Garon
as he spoke
more of the men’s needs. “And you will have enough females in service for
them?”

“Of course,” replied
Utan
. He
envied
Garon
and the others. Once he’d been on active
duty as well and had fought and joined in many battles. That seemed a lifetime
ago. When he found the local sector’s House of Pleasure placed in his care, all
of that changed. It was more important he run it and maintain things so the
Heat did not claim more of his brethren. “My women are always ready to serve.”

“Good.”
Garon
turned to his
second-in-command, Lorne. “What news have we of the recent mining accident?”

“Another?”
Jaston
, a fellow guard,
asked. “That makes three in one month.
Tagun’s
mineral-hungry officials should not be permitted to blow holes in their planet
if they cannot do so safely.”

“Agreed,” Lorne said. He looked to
Utan
.
“Have you word from your brother yet?”

“No,
Altan
and his men were
cleaning up the other two explosions,”
Utan
said with
a sigh. “I’ve heard nothing of the new one.
Garon
?”

“Only that it just occurred. We have no word if any of our
men were there when it happened. When I know more, you will. You have my word.”

Utan
knew
Garon’s
word was good.

Lorne cast a pensive look at
Garon
.
“We can’t keep sending our men to suffer because they want to turn a profit on
something so dangerous. And you know as well as I that the mineral they mine
can only be used to make weapons. Who do you think they arm with it? Not us.”

Garon
sighed. “This decision comes from the higher council.
Utan
,
I’ll stay in contact with our men on
Tagun
. I’ll keep
you posted as I hear more.”

“Thank you.”
Utan
nodded. “Is that
all then?”

“Meeting adjourned,”
Garon
said.

Wasting no time,
Utan
set his
handheld tablet in its cubby hole and left the main meeting lodge. He disliked
having to stop everything for matters that concerned him little. He was seen as
a politician of sorts now even though he didn’t want anything to do with the
title or what it entailed.

Jaston
fell into step alongside
Utan
. “I fear you dislike
the meetings more than me. I didn’t think it possible.”

Utan
laughed. “Oh, it is most certainly possible. So, I’ve not seen you darkening my
doorstep of late. Are you well?”

Jaston
tipped his head. “As well as I can be, and I fear a bit of cunt won’t fix what
ails me.”

“The Heat?”
Utan
asked.

Jaston
glanced away. “They tell me
Altan
is having troubles
with it as well.”

“He is.”

Jaston
clasped his shoulder. “He will pull through.”

Utan
wasn’t so sure.

Chapter Two

Two weeks later, just outside of
Ralen’s
orbit…

Reya
coughed again, the air from the slave trader vessel hurting her lungs. Each
breath she took was agony, and she’d taken more breaths than she could count
since she’d been captured and imprisoned aboard the trader vessel months ago.
Her upper back was rubbed nearly raw from heaving with her back pressed to the
rusty metal wall of her holding cell. She’d been too weak to do much beyond lie
there for most of the agonizingly long journey.

The cell door scraped open and she looked up to find one of
the two
Voxenite
guards who normally checked on her.
He was the nicer of the two, if you could call only jabbing her once with his
electric prod ‘nice’. He’d done that on the first day of her arrival but hadn’t
done it again.

He tipped his head and the gills on the sides of his face
flapped. He wore a breathing apparatus over his nose and part of his mouth. The
sight of him used to cause her to slink back and gasp. She was used to him and
the others like him now.

“Come,” he said.

She tried to stand but was too weak.

He glanced down the long outer corridor and then stepped
into her cell and bent. He lifted her gently and carried her out of the cell,
down the corridor and to a large decontamination chamber. She’d not had a
decent bath since she’d been taken from Earth, Old World Section Seven, and she
nearly cried tears of joy at the sight of the unit. The guard eased her to her
feet and motioned to the unit.
