Revenge in the Homeland (19 page)

“Scott, what became of the spies that were captured?”

“After we obtained all of the information possible, we shot each one.”

“Where do we go from here?”

“I recommend that we increase our security and that everyone around this table be subjected to a lie detector test. Then all citizens in leadership roles must be tested. We can’t have spies from the CP or the USA infiltrating our leadership.”

The questions continued for half an hour then George got every ones attention.

“I know we have to put a statement out that says our president is dead, but I, for one, don’t think for a minute that John is dead. He and the others are in some town fighting the bad guys and getting the towns people ready to join the ISA.”

John’s gravestone read:

John Harris

Father of our country.

Great man and citizen of the ISA.

“He continues the Fight.”

They spent the night at the house and woke up early to prepare for the trip back to Eric’s house. They made a sled, piled all of the food, weapons and ammo on it and headed out. Just as John predicted, another snowstorm hit them halfway back to the house and obliterated their tracks. The trip was non-eventful and they arrived safely.

“Joe, look, there are people approaching from the back of the house. The snow is thick, but I think it’s our guys.”

“Watch closely in case it’s not them.”

Joe saw about six people heading their way and two were pulling a sled.

They got closer and Joe said, “Let’s go out and meet them. It’s John and they have picked up a couple of new recruits.”

Janet and Beth stowed the contents of the sled while they took off their coats and boots to get warmed by the fireplace. Beth came in from the garage and gave John a big kiss.

“Well John, it’s just like you to go out in the woods and come back with three beautiful women. Did everything go well except for that knot on your head? Hello girls, I’m Beth, John’s better half.”

The women laughed and began telling their story. It was ugly and haunted these women for the rest of their lives, but that was behind them now.

“Joe, we have two towns with only about 30 thugs guarding them. There are about 150 town people who probably want to join us.”

“So we have them outnumbered as usual.”

One of the women said, “Are there more of you?”

Imelda replied, “Each one of us can take 10-20 biker thugs. They don’t stand a chance. The only question is – slow or fast.

John replied, “We just heard that the president of the ISA is dead from a plane crash. This kinda bummed me out. I’m a little tired, so I vote for slow. I made a couple of homemade silencers and we will pick off half of them before they even know we are around.”

Beth said, “Harris has almost been killed several times. Raise your glasses. Let’s make a toast. Long live John Harris!”

John was back in his element, leading a small, but determined group of fighters fighting an evil group for freedom, liberty and justice.

John walked up to the door and heard Beth getting after Josh about making Jenn an honest woman. He slowly walked into the room behind Jenn so that only Beth could see him.

“Jenn, if your father knew what has been going on in that hospital bed, he’d have a shotgun to his back. So when is the wedding?”

Jenn stammered, “I know we love each other, but isn’t marriage speeding thinks up a bunch?”

John’s booming voice leaped out at them, “You can’t keep getting free milk without buying the cow sometime.”

Jenn, punched her dad in the stomach and cried, “So now I’m a cow and a loose one without morals.”

“Daughter your words not mine. Josh, how are you doing these days when you’re not in bed with my daughter?”

“I’m doing very well sir. I just asked Jenn to marry me and I’m going to get a job and settle down with Jenn if she’ll have me.”

“Great, Beth owes me twenty bucks; I called this on the first day of your visit.”

“Good luck getting that money.”

"John, Beth has been telling me about your visit to the Wyoming territory. Can you help me flesh out the story? I also want to hear about the retaliation on the USA for the attacks meant to kill you and President Hayden.”

“Well do you want to know how I singly captured the entire northwest or about how George and the Admiral laid waste to the USA while I was dead in the Gulf of Mexico?”

"Let’s start with Wyoming."
