ROMANCE: Menage Romance Collection (Werebear, Werewolf, Vampire and Stepbrother Romance) (Threesome Paranormal Contemporary Young Adult Romance Short Stories) (13 page)

Jessica simply sat, she didn’t move for what seemed like ages. Her mind was racing as quickly as her pulse. Ethan wasn’t the guy she thought he was; in fact, he wasn’t even a guy!

She’d never heard of shifters before today, and now she knew three of them. What had Ethan been playing at with her, and why. It didn’t make any sense. She could understand it more if he’d wanted sex and she’d refused, then his next step would’ve been to attack her perhaps, but she’d led their sexual encounter all the way. Jessica had wanted him, as she’d wanted both Parker and Max.

What should she do now, run before Max and Parker returned or stay to hopefully get some answers. She decided the latter option was her best bet, and waited for them to return to her.

Jessica made her way back to the clearing and assumed they’d come back there when they’d finished with Ethan. She shuddered when she thought about the word ‘finished’ and wondered if they’d kill him or not. She found the clearing easy enough as it wasn’t far from where she’d followed the two wolves or Parker and Max. What was she meant to call them now their names or the two wolves!

She’d just sat on the soft ground where earlier they’d all had sex when she heard them approaching, they were chatting happily to each other.

Jessica looked up and saw their faces were covered in blood, Ethan’s blood she guessed.

“We wondered if you’d followed us to see where we went,” Max said staring at her with his blue eyes.

“I did Max and I saw everything,” she whispered, hoping her admittance didn’t place her in danger from them now she knew what they truly were.

“You okay?” Parker asked kneeling on the floor beside her with his bloodstained face pointing her way.

“Here brother, wipe your face off for fuck’s sake,” Max said as he threw the same cloth used to bathe Jessica’s wounds at his brother.

“Shit, sorry Jessica I didn’t think,” mumbled Parker as he cleaned his ruggedly handsome face off and returned to normal.

Jessica started to shake uncontrollably, the more she tried to control the shaking the worse it became.

Parker placed an arm around her slight shoulders, “Hey come on you’re okay. We’d never hurt you if that’s what you’re thinking.”

“He’s right we were protecting you and the other girls from the bear shifter. What you saw must’ve shocked you we’re sorry,” said Max.

“I, I knew him,” she stuttered looking up at Max as he also knelt on the ground with them.

“Really, shit that must be a shock. He tried to attack you and you knew him,” said Parker.

“Yeah like that’s the biggest shock of all brother, she’s just watched him change into a fucking bear and what’s more she’s seen us change into wolves!” Max said sarcastically rolling his blue eyes toward Jessica.

She smirked at his sarcasm, “What did you do to Ethan, I mean the bear, what did you do to it?”

“We injured it but let it go. We didn’t have a lot of choice Jessica. We can’t go around killing every other shifter or person we don’t like just because we can shift into wild animals, if we do eventually people are going to ask a lot of questions and we prefer to lay low,” Parker replied.

“But he’ll be pretty messed up for awhile,” said Max touching Jessica’s arm gently. “Don’t trust him Jessica no matter what he says to you shifters can be quite charming when they want to be, just to achieve what they desire,” said Max.

“Is that what you’ve done with me, charmed me?” Jessica asked.

“It wasn’t like that at all, we wanted to help you. The bear’s been hurting too many young women and on our territory we had to stop him,” whispered Parker as he stood up again.

Jessica didn’t know what to think or who to believe, “What am I supposed to do when I see the bear again?”

“That’s your choice,” said Max.

“My advice is to be careful and to be wary Jessica, you know what he is now and what he’s capable of,” Parker replied to her as he stretched his muscular body. “Me and Max are peaceful shifters we’re wolves we believe in being a family and keeping ourselves away from people.”

“Will his grandma know what he is?” Jessica asked, and imagining Mrs Davies changing into an elderly bear brought a smile to her young face.

“No, not necessarily it depends how he became a shifter,” said Max. “Sometimes it can be through the bloodline, so in the family, sometimes you’re bitten by a shifter, or sometimes you can be the only shifter within your family and others may not know if you choose to keep it a secret.”

Jessica panicked now and asked, “So what about my scratches from Ethan?”

Max and Parker exchanged looks before Parker replied, “Usually it can only be transmitted via a proper bite and not via claws this is not 100% certain though, but don’t panic Jessica.”

“Don’t panic, no of course not Parker. Why the fuck would I panic I might just be a bear shifter but hey no need to panic,” she retorted.

“Shall we take you home?” asked Max. “I think you’d be better off resting.”

“Will I see you both again?” she asked.

“Of course, if you want to,” Parker answered. “We’d like to see you again wouldn’t we Max?”

“Sure would, come on up on your feet Jessica we’ll walk you home,” Max said as he stood up holding out a hand to Jessica.

She took it and between him and Parker, they got her to her feet. She felt safe walking back to her apartment with Max and Parker either side of her, she felt tiny compared to them.

“Shit,” she muttered as they entered the Pebble Creek complex. “Ethan’s here, the bear shifter. Over there look.”

They followed her gaze and saw him sitting on a bench outside the main doors; he was holding his side and looked in pain.

“Don’t worry we’re with you. Come on,” Parker said as he took Jessica’s hand and placed her arm through his, Max did the same on the other side of her, so they were all linked together with her in the middle.

“Jessica, I was so worried about you,” said Ethan as they approached. He looked at the two guys either side of her and then at Jessica.

He backed away quickly as though he’d sensed something in them. He didn’t even speak to her again just scampered away like a frightened mouse.

“I don’t think he’ll be bothering you again Jessica,” laughed Max.

She invited them in and they accepted saying they’d stay awhile to ensure she was safe. They ended up staying the night with the three of them sharing Jessica’s double bed and having sex once again.

Jessica felt happy, her relationship with Ethan may have died a death but her relationship with both Max and Parker was growing stronger and they were bonding.

The next morning they were all up early and Max leant over and kissed her softly on her smooth cheek looking into her green eyes.

“Go to the mirror Jessica,” he said calmly.

Parker woke up and looked at her, “Wow, quickly go and look at yourself.”

“Why, what’s happened to me?” she asked as she leapt out of bed and made her way to the bathroom mirror. The light flickered on and she focused on the mirror in front of her with tired eyes. As she stared at her reflection she caught a glimpse of a new color hidden within the green of her eyes, she couldn’t be sure but it looked liked tiny flecks of amber.

Behind her she saw both Max and Parker looking at her reflection with her and smiling.

“You’re one of us now Jessica, you’re not a bear shifter but a wolf shifter. You’re part of our pack, seems there’s another way of exchanging bodily fluids that can make you a shifter,” Max said with a saucy smile playing on his soft lips.

Jessica burst out laughing she’d never felt happier, at long last she had a family, something she’d never really experienced in her young life.

What the future held for her she didn’t know but she did know that her Parker and Max were her family now, her pack.
