Watching Ted’s ashes ripple away, an
understanding flowed over them.

Some
spirits are unique, special, sent to earth briefly with a mission.

Never to be all that their loved ones would
like them to be, for they are not permitted to deviate from their
assignment.

Once accomplished, the
heavens open to gather them to her breast where they become our guardian angels
watching over us hoping we will someday understand.

When we do, as we close our eyes and lift our
faces toward heaven the sun will shine brighter than ever before.

We will feel the warmth of their smiles,
their sweet lips as they kiss our cheeks.

Loved ones who pass on before us are angels who dared to fly too close
to the ground.

Inside the deteriorating cabin that
for so many years stood alone to meet the wrath of nature, the sowing of
another seed took place.

Brad and Sam
made love with an insatiable appetite, with intent, with purpose, while a
blazing globe pinked the sky and slipped behind the mountaintops splashing them
with dazzling colors.

Its partner in the
universe silvered the world, and brilliant stars painted the heavens.

Exhausted, Brads' arms drew Sam
closer, his lips kissing her temples.

Holding each other, a need in them both for an interlude of peace, they
marveled that the shadowy nightmares lurking in their world no longer
existed.

Instead, all they could hear
was Ted's laughter.

All they could see
was his grinning face.

All they could
feel was the warmth of his breath, as he kissed their cheeks and whispered in
their ears, “Love each other.

Be good to
each other.

Be happy.”

With a sigh of contentment, Brad placed his
hand upon Sam’s stomach just over her womb and with his head nestled into the
crook of her neck, he drifted asleep with a silly smile upon his face. Sam
closed her eyes and smiled the same silly smile, knowing when they awoke it
would still be there.

Throughout the
night, they dreamed the same wish filled dream.
