A glimpse into the future…
Two year later...
Bree stood behind the bar, scanning faces and glasses, making sure each had a good amount of whatever they were drinking still in front of them. She took a minute to think just how she got to where she stood.
It had taken over six months of hard work and a few sleepless nights. Okay, some of them ‘months’ were spent with her and her sketch pad, ‘finding that perfect place’ but after countless sketches, she ‘found it.’ Then the real work began, and with the help of Draco, Storm, and Skylar as well as all the rest of her friends,
My Place
had officially opened for business. She shook her head.
These past two years have been
…
something!
Thinking back…
When the shock of what Draco and Storm had done wore off, and Bree was able to grasp the reality of what they had given her, she knew exactly what she wanted. Trying to explain that to Draco, well, that had taken a little bit of time and maybe a little extra help with a set of hidden handcuffs. Yes, she still kept a few things hidden from Draco but when he did
discover
them, let’s just say he didn’t mind too much at all.
Since alpha-male-also-known-as-stubborn-ass, wouldn’t let her explain why he couldn’t quit being a cop, she took matters into her own hands. Or maybe she should say that she took them out of his hands when she
lost
another bet. The only difference this time, after she had him handcuffed, she pulled up another chair and sat down facing him. Then began explaining to him the importance of him not just being a cop, but a good guy. And in her experience a good guy that happened to be a cop made a good cop, and he was that, a damn good cop. And the world needed every good cop it could get. And if they had to choose between the world having a damn good cop or a damn good bartender, well, the way she saw it, there wasn’t really a choice to be made. He didn’t agree so much with that, because again he was looking at her dream versus his job. So she explained. “Yes, owning my own bar
was
my dream, but now you
are
my dream, you the man, and you the cop. Plus, I was thinking maybe one day we could have a kid or two, and I don’t want to be working nights while they sleep and when they’re awake, I’m asleep. Don’t get me wrong, I know it can be done. I watched Skylar do it with Caleb, but that’s not how I want to do it. Plus, I want to be able to bring my kids to work with me sometimes and most importantly I want them to know what a good cop is and know that their daddy is the best cop in the world.”
It was that that brought him around and changed his mind. Just her thinking of their ‘one day’ kids. After that, everything else fell into place, well, after she stripped and they practiced on making those ‘one day’ kids.
Bree also tried to convince Skylar to come work for her, as a waitress once they opened, and in the mean time it was, basically, whatever she needed to do to turn that old, but solid, building into an old fashioned family style pub, called
My Place
. She had a lot of questions over that name, most often why? She explained simply. “When it’s said it has a comfy feel to it. Like when you say, ‘Hey, want to go grab a bite at
My Place
?’ or ‘There’s a live band at
My Place
tonight, want to go check it out?’ Just saying its name makes you feel part of something, part of a family.”
Now, here she was, two years later standing behind her bar, looking out at all her friends and family.
My Place
was technically ‘closed to the public’ tonight, so they—her friends and family—could, as Bree like to put it “Party with the Peeps.” But then again with half of Mt. Eve being friends and family she didn’t know why she bothered with the ‘closed to the public’ sign in the first place.
She carefully climbed up on top of the bar just as the music started. She started dancing, singing, and encouraged everyone to sing along with Kool & The Gang’s
Celebration,
with a huge grin on her face. They—her family—had a
lot
to celebrate tonight and wanted all of their friends to celebrate with them. But first, she thought, there was one thing she need to discuss with
only
Draco. So before the song ended she sat down on top of the bar as Draco stepped up to her. She didn’t hesitate to pull him closer, wrapping her legs around his waist, her arms around his neck.
“I never get tired of watchin’ you dance,” he growled low in her ear. “‘Cept now all I wanna do is take you home and slide inside of you.”
“Will you settle for the back room?”
“What?”
“Dra, take me to the back,” she whispered where only he could hear and without another word he plucked her off the bar and took her to the back room.
When he closed the door behind them she dropped her feet to the floor, and he released her. She took a step further into the room and turned back to face him. “Detective Drakon Vittore. Do you realize what you are being accused of?”
“What?” Draco asked, distracted, and looking at her like she was crazy. “What the hell are you talkin’ about?”
“I went to see a man today, a man who has accused you of something I’m still having a hard time believing.”
“What the fuck, Breezie? Who the hell did you go see? What damn man?” He fired off questions at her without giving her time to answer. “What the fuck did he accuse me of? And why the fuck would you believe anything some damn strange man tells you? How the hell do you even know he’s not making some shit up?”
“Oh, I’m pretty sure he has his facts straight. After all, it is what he does.”
“So, you’re just takin’ this man’s word for it? Without any proof?”
“No, he gave me proof.”
“And what the fuck kind of proof did he give you?”
“This.” She walked over to her desk and picked up a sheet of paper and handed it to him. “He said this was all the proof I needed to prove that you, Drakon Vittore, have most definitely, without a shadow of a doubt, have impregnated me. Are you going to try and deny it or plead guilty as charged?”
Draco stood there staring down at the paper. “Bree, I’m not goin’ plead guilty to something I didn’t—” He jerked his head up, looking at her. “What did you just say?”
“I said, that the doctor accused you of being,” she stepped up to him, wrapped her arms around his waist, and tilted her head back to look up at him, “a daddy-to-be.”
“Breezie,” he breathed as he grabbed her around the waist and lifted, and she, just like always, wrapped her limbs around him. “We’re gonna have a baby?” he whispered in awe as he touched his forehead to hers.
“Yes—” She said not another word as his mouth crashed onto hers, and he kissed her senseless.
“Ti amo, mia Breezie. Ti amo così dannatamente tanto.”
Bree smiled and repeated back to him.
“I love you, my Dra, I love you so damn much.”
The End
Until next time
