Saints and Assassins (The Sentinels) (19 page)

Just as she thought she might have her desires under control
,
Adam spoke.

“There’s a bedroom back there.” Adam nodded his head toward the aft of the plane.

Eve looked at
Adam, then glanced to the back of the plane,
and then back at Adam. He leaned toward her and kissed her cheek.

“We have an eight hour flight, you know,” Adam whispered into her ear. As if there
was
anyone else to hear them talking.

It took no further convincing as Eve stood up and pulled Adam to the back of the plane all the while she giggled.

The room had a queen size bed in the center of it and Eve planned
to take
full advantage of every square inch
. Eve watched Adam turn toward the door and by the time
he
shut and locked it, Eve had already
strip
p
ed off her dress.

Adam laughed as he
caught her taking off her bra. “You are insatiable, but I’ll try to keep up.”

Eve dropped her bra to the ground just as Adam reached her and without
hesitation,
he slid one hand under her left breast while he reached around her with th
e other hand and cupped her behind
.

The silkiness of her skin against his hand hardened his cock instantly. As he caressed her breast with his palm, he reached up with his thumb and finger to pinch her nipple. Eve moaned and Adam knew he would make her come as many times as possible over the next few hours.

“What’s wrong?” Adam teased. “Is there something that you need?” he asked as he kissed her. Eve couldn’t respond except to moan into his mouth and Adam knew she would scream out his name soon.

Dipping his head, he took one nipple into his mouth and teased it
with his tongue and teeth
all while Eve stood there
moaning. Adam kissed a trail from one breast to the other and repeated the torture. He knew E
ve wanted more as she reached out
and knotted her fingers in his hair.

Adam stood back up so that she had to relinquish her grip on him. He wanted her dripping wet by the time he got around to fucking her.

“Please, Adam,” she pleaded. He loved how she said his name, but he wasn’t done toying with her yet
so he
was not
giving in. Eve reached out and pressed her hand against his cock. If he hadn’t still been fully dressed he might have given in and thrown her down on the bed.

Instead, Adam responded by pulling Eve to the bed and gently lying her down. He lay down next to her and leaned over her to kiss her. As he planted kisses across her cheeks and lips he noticed she had moved her arm. Ex
pecting it to find his shaft
, he was surprised to see her delve her fin
gers beneath her panties and rub
herself. Instantly, he wanted a taste.

Sliding down the bed, he reached for her panties and shoved them down. Eve started to slip her hand away, but Adam caught it and sucked the wetness from her fingers.

“You taste so good.” Adam moved between her legs
and ran his tongue over her. Eve panted as he continued and he knew it would only be moments before she came.
He thrust two fingers inside of her to escalate the process.
She was dripping wet just as
he had
hoped.

Come for me.” Adam continued tasting her and waited for her to find her pleasure. Within seconds, Eve cried out his name. He held there for just a moment before he stood up and started to undress. Eve lay on the bed panting and watching.

Once Adam had freed himself of his clothing, he slid back onto the be
d and hovered over her
.
She smiled at him and his heart melted. She was the one that he wanted forever.

Without another moment though, he slid himself inside of her. The feeling of her wrapped around his body was the best thing he could
ever
imagine.

Ad
am thrust himself inside of her again and again
. It still seemed like the first time with her even though they had been going at it for two days now. He
could not
get enough of her.

Eve ran her fingers over his body as he penetrated her deeper. Adam withdrew and returned to her one final time when he came. Throwing his head ba
ck, he let out a growl that he thought to be
heard over the jet engines.

Collapsing on her, he tried to catch his breath.

When Eve
woke,
Adam was lying next to her
wide-awake
. She still
could not
believe that they had spent the past few hours in a bed at thirty-thousand feet in the air. She could stay in bed with him forever.

Knowing that wasn’t
feasible,
she distracted herself with questions that she had wanted to ask Adam.

“Adam, who is it that did this? I mean, what’s his name?” she asked. He looked at her as if it hurt him to think of the answer.

“You really need to know?” he asked.

“Yes, I
want to know.” She wanted to know his name and his face. She wanted to know
whom
she could hate for taking Michael’s life. As the thoughts jumped around in Eve’s
head,
she then realized that she wanted to hate the person that took her husband but that same person had also brought her to Adam. She couldn’t thank that person, but it didn’t make sense, her emotions were all mixed up. She remained calm, keeping the tears that were now on the edge of her eyes from falling.

Adam’s eyes seemed to darken instantly, he sat up in the bed, “His name is Jack Sanders he is the President at Harris Bank and Trust.”

“I see.” Now that she actually heard the name she
did not
know how to react, Eve didn’t feel angry
as
she thought she might.

Chapter 6.

“Eve, you shouldn’t put yourself through anymore than you have to,” Adam stated. “I understand why you want to know though and I will truthfully answer any questions that you ask. I just don’t want you to hurt anymore.”

Adam stared
at her, but he had pulled his hand away from her. He was in his
professional
mode again and was being cautious. Adam did not like the thought of her thinking of Michael. He had accepted the fact that she would always love him but he didn’t want her to be in pain and reliving his death again and again.

I suppose that I thought it might be easier if I had an identity to match to the crime. I wan
t to hate him, but . . .
” She couldn’t hi
de the tears anymore. She hid her
face in her hands as they flowed from her eyes.

“I don’t understand?” Adam asked. “You should hate him, he took your husband from you and left you alone all this time. You deserve better than that.”

Afte
r a couple of
minutes,
the tears
slowed
and
she
looked up at Adam. “Adam, I do hate hi
m for taking Michael’s life, but
as sick and twisted as it is, that brought me to you,
so I wasn’t alone
. I just didn’t know it.”

While her statement was true, it made his stomach churn. The idea that this had been fate sickened him.
He didn’t speak but he placed his arms around her and pulled her to him.

After several minutes
passed,
Adam spoke. “I can never change what has happened, but I can make damn sure that nothing happens to you
.”

Adam jolted from the bed.

“I’m sorry,” she
whispered
.

I’m the one who should be sorry.
I’ve been a dick to you from the moment we met.

Adam pulled on his pants
.

“You had to and that doesn’t matter. I haven’t been exactly even tempered with you either. I was just scared I guess.”
Adam saw the fear in her
eyes, sat back down on the bed,
and cupped her cheek.

“Adam?”

“Yes,” he replied with his smooth
deep tone.

“What was it that Koa was talking about at the boat?” Adam said he would tell her la
ter and it was definitely later so he had to uphold his promise.

“Oh that. Well, he had
advised
me to stop fighting myself. And I did,” he told her as he caressed her hair
.

“What do you mean fighting y
ourself?”

Adam sighed. He placed his fingers under her ch
in and lifted her face upward so their eyes met.

“I was fighting myself about you. I shouldn’t have loved you but I did. Koa and his
senses
.” H
e sighed and rolled his eyes.

“He said that he could tell there was a change in me, especially if I spoke about you. I told him he was full of shit but I was just ly
ing to myself.” H
e chuckled lightly.

She smiled
and he gladly accepted her joy.

“What’s so funny?” he asked smiling now.

“You. Just you.”

“I think it’s my turn for some questions,” Adam said.

“What could you possibly want to know? You know more about me than anyone ever has. You know what I eat, my sleeping habits, even what size clothes I wear.
I can’t believe you made Koa get me underwear!
” She cleared
her throat.

Adam laughed.

“Koa didn’t actually have to pick it out. I had Greta order it online and he simply picked it up at the store.”

“Who’s Greta?” Eve asked. She couldn’t help but imagine a Polish woman with supermodel looks and the idea irritated her. She was jealous.

“She’s my assistant. I sent her an email and asked her to order you some clothes for Koa to pick up. She has good taste so I knew she would get something that
I
would like.” Adam
wagged his eyebrows at her.

“Oh I’m sure she knows exactly what you like,” Eve huffed. As soon as it escaped her lips, she regretted it.

“What’s wrong with— you’re jealous!” Adam’s lascivious grin returned.

“Am not,” Eve whispered. She couldn’t believe that she had reacted that way. She hadn’t even met the woman.

“Oh please, you are so jealous. You have no reason to be at all, I assure you. Now, I had a question that you haven’t answered. What is your favorite color?” Adam pulled a strand of her hair over her shoulder and caressed it with his thumb and finger.

“Well, I was wondering what
your favorite color was?”

“Oh, well its brown I suppose.” She smiled even bigger now as she stared into his warm brown eyes.
Adam smiled in return.

My turn?” She asked
. It was as if this was a game, and she was definitely going to play along.

“Okay.”

“Tell me about your scars.” Eve ran her fingers down his tattooed arm, feeling the numerous scars as she did.

“I thought you’d never ask,” he smirked. “I was shot seven times and this one—” He raised his arm slightly and
pulled her hand
over the long scar.
She sensed he were proud of his battle scars.
“This is where I had
to have a skin graft to cover my ribs. It was pretty much shredded.”

Eve swallowed hard. The idea of him being hurt had nagged at her over the past few days, but to see evidence of previous injuries, left her reeling. The sadness must have shown as Adam interrupted her pity party.

“Hey, the client lived and I lived. So it was all in a day’s work.” He shrugged his shoulders
as if it didn’t matter. “Now, you keep distracting me, I have another question.”

“Go ahead.” Eve smiled to let him know she wasn’t dwelling on his injuries.

“Well, it’s a little more private I guess. I
wondered
why you never had children. You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to,” he added.

“That’s okay.
Actually,
we wanted to have children. We tried for about three years but I never got pregnant. I went to a couple of specialists and they gave me some pills, but still no luck. Michael and I had been discussing adoption and we just didn’t make it that far.” Eve wanted to have children, she wa
nted to be a mother, but it
was not
meant to be.
