Saint's Sacrament - Sins of the Father (54 page)

“So what do you want us to do now?” Lawrence asked seriously.

Saint glared at the papers piled up, all the research Lawrence had done to find out Sinclair’s worm trails in the industry. The little tyrant had been busy and though he was in a bit of a financial pickle, he wasn’t destitute. However, desperation was setting in and Saint had messed with the one thing he’d revived and brought back from the dead: his reputation. Now, it was slipping away again.

None of us know what he is going to do. All we know is that he is not finished with me. So, I am going to pay attention, watch and listen. I need you two to help be my eyes and ears. I feel it’s important that he not know right now that we are aware he is the cause of this. As long as he still believes he has free rein, he is more likely to slip up. I don’t want him to get tight and secretive, making it harder on us to get to the bottom of things.”

Jagger looked at Lawrence, then back at Saint.
“I got it, chief. I got it.”

Q
uiet crept in like an old woman meandering past on her way to the kitchen. Tangible and serene, yet, perhaps they had too much on their minds to fully appreciate the moment.

The rain came down harder, and a boom of lightning lit up the house.
Grinning, Saint said telepathically to the men,
“I have no qualms killing him now…”

Lawrence smiled back
.
“Neither do we…but in due time, Saint…in due time…”

“Thanks so much for coming. Are you sure you don’t want to take some of this chicken home? You being a single girl and all, I know I used to hate to cook sometimes.” Xenia said with a smile as she tried to pawn off the leftover fried chicken breast to Shianne.

“Xenia, no way. It was good,
too
good, and I’ll eat it before I even get back home.” She laughed as she pulled her purse over her shoulder. “Thanks for having me. It was really nice to meet your children.”

And thanks for coming. Well…” Xenia slowly walked her to the front door. “I will see you tomorrow, bright and early.” Then, she heard the garage door opening. “Hey, Shianne, wait a minute. Saint is back early from his basketball game I see. I’d like him to meet you.”

“Oh great,
okay.” Shianne stood by the front door, a wide smile on her face.

Xenia heard the familiar noises. The kitchen door opened, closed and locked. Her husband’s heavy gait trekked across the floor. The clanking of keys on the counter followed, and then he rounded the corner into the living room with his white Nike jersey on,
paired with silky shorts and white Nike gym shoes. To complete the picture, he had a basketball tucked under his arm. His shirt was soaked with sweat and his brow glistened with moisture. He looked at Shianne then back at Xenia.

“Fabulous. Another surprise visitor.” He grinned as he walked closer to the two women.

“Saint, this is my assistant I was telling you so much about, Shianne.”

Saint, apparently still mildly out of breath
, looked Shianne up and down. His expression wasn’t friendly or perturbed. It danced somewhere in the middle. “I would shake your hand, but I’ve—”

“I understand.” Shianne smiled nervously as she looked up into his eyes.
Xenia noticed the two continuing to stare at one another, not saying anything. One would have thought they recognized each other. Xenia broke the silence.

“So, um, I will see you tomorrow, Shianne. I had a great time.” She turned the woman around gently by the shoulders, forcing her to face the front door. Shianne looked over her shoulder, straining to
take another glimpse at Saint then looked back at Xenia.

“I did too, Xenia, thanks so much.” The two women hugged and Xenia closed the door.

Saint continued to stand there, panting, the ball huddled under his arm.

She crossed her arms and pursed her lips as she leaned against the closed door. “You want to explain to me what that was all about?
!”

“And this is why I didn’t say anything!” Saint yelled as Xenia stormed up the steps behind him.

“Why is it that you like none of my friends, Saint? Everyone you meet, you write off, you don’t like them. You don’t like my father, you barely like my mother and—”

“Now that’s not true. I like Mama Pam, I just find her annoying sometimes.” He softened his tone, wanting her to know he was sincere.

“Saint, the girl has been a Godsend! She keeps me abreast of everything. She makes sure I have everything I need. She has put out fires on the set before they began. She is really talented and she needs a mentor! She doesn’t have any damn body, she’s just a kid!”

“A sneaky, two-faced, conniving
kid
! Kids from where I came from, shot and killed mothafuckas. Kids over in Egypt, Xenia, will strap a bomb to their damn body, smile in your goddamn face, and blow both of ya’ll up to kingdom come! I don’t give a—”

“…flying fuck.” Xenia rolled her eyes, mocking him.

“That’s right, Xenia, I don’t give
one
flying fuck that she is a kid. She is young, but grown, damn it. Now,”—he pointed at his wife and narrowed his eyes on her—“I know you, Xenia. I know you know that something is fishy about that young woman. I can smell it on you, but you, being typical Xenia, have dismissed that gut instinct because you want to believe everyone is as good-hearted as you. That’s the same shit you accused me of when I brought Beset in here but you suffer from it, too. We’ve been through this shit before!”

He stormed off
again, but she was hot on his trail.

“And you’ve been wrong before! Last year, I introduced you to my friend Kim
. You said she this and that, and come to find out, you were wrong, Saint, and you finally admitted it. You did the same thing about Brock when he started helping me with the radio station. You said he was shady, and the guy is true blue!”

“Xenia
.” Saint sighed as he flung his sweaty shirt onto the floor. “You asked me why I was looking at her like that, and I told you. I had no intention of saying a damn thing because I knew we’d just get into an argument. You don’t like being told what to do, you think I’m too controlling at times, so I just planned to keep my damned mouth shut and now that I’m honest with you about it, you want to throw a fit. But since you started this shit, you wanna know something else?!”

“What?
!”

“She wants to fuck me!” He practically tore his shorts and underwear off, and walked off into the bathroom, slamming the door behind him.

“Oh, hell no!” Xenia opened the door so hard it bounced against the bathroom wall. “You aren’t just going to say some shit like that and let it be the end of it. You didn’t touch her. How do you know?”

Saint bent over, grabbed two fresh snow-white
washcloths and turned on the shower. He looked over his shoulder at Xenia, debating whether to answer truthfully or not. He decided on the honesty policy once again; shit had already gotten real. Why stop now?

“I read her goddamn mind. That’s right, I invaded her privacy. I could smell her as soon as I walked in the damn house.
She got ‘ho’ written all over her. She uses her pussy to get paid, Xenia.”

“Now that’s just ridiculous, Saint.

“Oh, is it?”
he said caustically as he grabbed his shampoo.

The girl works all the time and barely has time to do anything else. She is at my beck and call, barely has a personal life. I don’t know when she’d have the time.”

“Are you fucking kidding me, Xenia? Her p
ussy is still wet from the last dick that slid up in it and
trust
me,” he said, rolling his eyes, “that shit was as recent as this damn argument right now. Don’t let her innocent act fool you! She would fuck me in a New York second if I called her this second and asked to meet a hotel. Don’t believe me? Hand me my phone and let’s see!”

Xenia glared at him, a mixture of shock and disgust
on her face.

You know it’s the truth, damn it. She would fuck yo’ man, Xenia, just to see if the rumors about me are true.” He sneered, mad that she wasn’t taking him seriously. He stepped in the shower. “She’s a damn gold-digger and a snitch, Xenia. She is conniving. I’m not trying to control you, it’s the truth!” he shouted over stream of water.

She said nothing. S
o unlike her. No snappy comeback, no wisecracks, no arguments. Just dead silence.

Watch ’er ass!” he continued. “You’ve already proven from the past you’re kinda the jealous type—don’t invite the shit in, then.” His heart was now racing. He couldn’t take one more person trying to cause havoc in his home. He hated to have to do that to her, but Xenia needed to open her eyes. People were coming into their lives at such a rapid speed, she may not have had time to do proper investigations and yes, he’d been wrong in the past, but he was more right than mistaken, and she had to know that. His batting average of detecting buffoonery and bullshit was approximately eighty-five percent since he’d come into his own, and he considered that an accomplishment.

L
athering himself up, he roughly spread soap over his body, fuming over the shit. Xenia hadn’t moved. She still stood out there, waiting for him, no doubt wanting to chew off his face off with her fangs.

But he was wrong for
moments later he felt her bare breasts pressed against his back and her hands wrap lovingly around his waist. Shocked and pleasantly surprised, he cooled his jets.

“I take
it the kids are next door, the play date?”

“Yeah, they left like fifteen minutes before Shianne did
,” she responded quietly. Saint turned around and put his hands on her shoulders. He stared into her eyes, those damn eyes…she made him melt, even when he was furious.

I hate how we’ve been going at each other lately, baby. There’s been so much stress…Sinclair, your father, my father’s health…shit at our jobs. I’m sorry for yelling at you. I’m just,” he sighed in exasperation, “tired of trying to convince you that I do this because I care. Yeah, I’ve been wrong about people and I could be wrong again, I’ll give you that, but don’t be so quick to dismiss me or call it paranoia. I don’t like her, Xenia, and until she proves otherwise, that is how it will remain. But you make your own choices. I’m not trying to tell you who your friends should be. I’m just trying to protect you. You’re my wife. That’s my job.” He leaned in close. She closed her eyes as he kissed her cheek. He slowly traced her chin with his thumb and then she looked back up at him. They stared at one another without saying anything…just connecting, taking in each other.

“I will watch her
, okay? You judge harshly…” The words drifted from her mouth, and faded, as if her heart wasn’t in them. Nevertheless, he knew she was going to up her game and pay closer attention, watch her steps. She knew he was right. Xenia had a good sense of people’s character. The problem was, she often times ignored it, especially if they were someone in need.

Tired of debating, h
e pushed her against the shower wall, one hand delicately wrapped around her long, elegant neck. She sighed, or was it a hiss? He leaned in close, pushing his body hard against hers, then caught her neck between his teeth, lightly pulling the skin, eliciting a twinge of pain and pleasure. He let go, and kissed the spot he’d gone vampire rage on, soothing the reddened skin as she moaned and fell apart against him…

Xenia pushed the Shianne concerns out of her mind as Saint slid his hot tongue in her mouth. His kiss was rough, possessive, unrefined. He ran his fingers ruggedly up and down her body. She sighed loudly as she felt him knock her legs crudely apart with his knee.

Hmmm, I judge harshly…” His low, breathy words heated her ear, the warmth giving her a sense of comfort though his body and mood made her pause with trepidation. “I only judge harshly the people I don’t like…” He slid his hand down from the wall and gripped his rock-hard cock, rubbing the thick head against her skin, bumping it against her.

“You’re hard on people…”

“Hard…mmmm, okay.”

She felt her pussy pulsate as her excitement grew. He held her tighter
, her pussy clamped and opened, ready for him.

“Yes…you judge…hard.” She gripped him around
the neck and stared up at him, into those golden, wicked yet sweet eyes…

“Ahhh! Shit!” Xenia dug her nails in his slick back as he lunged up inside of her, filling her with no warning.
He hoisted her legs up, and she quickly wrapped them around his tapered waist, locking her ankles above his flexing ass. He thrust in and out of her, his expression hungry, intense as he stared down at her. Anger still burned in his eyes… Releasing her throat, he grabbed fistful of her curly locks and gently pulled, then a bit harder… “Ahhhh! Oh God!”

“Uhhh!” he groaned. “Uhhh! I do
other
things hard, too… Uhhh! Mmm, baby!”
