About Tyra Brown

Chapter 1 - Tamara:

“When you find yourself in the midst of a global empire such as Rory Corporation, to succeed, everyone should be in your favor… but who could be against us anyway? This, however, I find difficult to come by. But, we play on that, we trade on that. It is our challenge and our opportunity…it is an endless war.” I stepped down from the podium, basking in the endless applause and the standing ovation.

I went back to my seat, sitting silently for the rest of the meeting. I hated this part, even more than waiting for my turn to speak, the part where I have to wait until the end and see what the officials say.

“Well,” Corey Fox, a balding, russet-skinned man took his stand at the podium and began to speak. “There is no surprise here, votes are in favor of Rory Corporation…congratulations, Tamara Taylor.” He said less than happily and wobbled off the stage. I smiled happily, shaking every hand that was forced my way.

Finally, I was shoving things back into my briefcase and making my way to the parking garage. I sanitized my hands, cleaning away the sweaty hands that were forced onto mine.

In a rush, I reached for my keys in my purse, rummaging for what seemed like forever before I found them. Finally, I unlocked my Acura and leaned across the driver seat to drop my briefcase on the floor.

“Ms. Taylor?” A voice from behind me said. I sighed heavily, what do they want from me?

“Yes?” I turned around, everything after was a blur.

He struck me across my face; he must have been really tall because it went down my eye and across my nose. Blood ran down my face but I didn’t have time to recover before I was lifted up easily and raced over to the other end of the garage. I couldn’t see much, except the back of his feet and the blurry ground. He had thrown me over his shoulder like a rag doll. I heard the doors of a van open and then he dropped me down in the back. I tried to collect myself, launching myself toward the open door but they slammed just as quickly in my face, dropping me back into the van.

I was still suffering from the first blow even for what seemed like minutes later. Once I regained most of my vision, I looked around, trying to find something that I could use to break out of there with. There was no window back there, it was like he turned this van into a prison. There was an iron-mesh gate separating me from the man...my abductor? I shook my head, is this real? Can I wake up now? I prayed to God, for what seemed like the first time in a long time. Just this morning, I was the happiest person, really enjoying my life.

“Tamara? You take forever to get ready!” My roommate and best friend Mallory yelled to me from the kitchen. I finished the last few touches on my hair, pulling a thick black curl behind my ear. I made sure my foundation was spread evenly across my caramel toned face, and adjusted my outfit which hugged my curvy figure.

“Mallory, can you actually help me with something?” I called to her. She pitter pattered her way into the bathroom.

“What’s up? Ooh, I like that skirt.” She smiled; I was wearing my new black pencil skirt for the first time.

“Should I do the plum lipstick or the cherry one? I want it to still be professional.” I hate giving speeches, because all eyes are on me and I don’t want to look like ...well what the men say behind my back, ‘just a piece of ass.’

“I like the plum one.” She turned me so that she could put it on me herself. Mallory is a bit shorter than me, her features are really soft, probably because she is Asian, Filipino to be exact, and her hair is jet black, long, and worthy of everyone’s jealousy.

“Thanks,” I said to her when she finished.

“No problem, come on I made you breakfast.”

A single tear escaped my eye, this is really happening. I immediately regretted it though, the salt from my tears burned the open gash on my face. I tried to wipe them away but it only made it worse.

We had finally come to a rumbling stop, the back door opened, exposing the bright sun to my eyes. I thought now was my chance; when he reached for me I kicked him, making sure my heel got in his face. He stumbled back for just a second and I got out of the van, making a run for it. It looked like we were literally in the middle of nowhere, ahead of me was barbed wire lining the road and nothing but road.

“Hey! You aren’t going to get very far, there is nothing here for miles!” I really heard his voice for the first time, it was deep, booming and stern…downright scary.

I think he was right though, even when I took off my heels I couldn’t breathe any longer, there was no way I was going to make it. Plus, I couldn’t see anything for miles and miles. I tripped and lost my footing, plummeting towards the ground.

“Help! Help!” I screamed, hoping some wandering soul would hear me , but there was no one. Before I knew it, those same large, strong hands were throwing me over his shoulder and carrying me up to a nasty looking, abandoned shack-like house.

“Why are you doing this?” I tried to get him to talk, he finally set me down once we were inside.

“If I let you go, will you try and run again?” He brought his face close to mine, too close. I could see the gash I gave him on his face, but I could also see that he really didn’t look like a kidnapper. He looked no older than me, with soft brown hair and perfectly tanned, smooth cream-colored skin. I swallowed audibly.

“No.” I didn’t know if I was lying or not, I just wanted his hands off of me.

“Good.” He let go of the sides of my arms and sat on the chair across from me, looking at me silently.

“What do you want from me?” I asked him. He sighed heavily.

“It isn’t what I want from you, it’s what I need from you.” I furrowed my brow in confusion.

“Look, I don’t know what you think, but I don’t have money…I can’t pay you much.” He chuckled darkly.

“I don’t want your money.” I opened my mouth to speak again but was interrupted by someone barging in. I turned my eyes to the door, cringing at the large man that had just come in.

“I got the stuff, boss.” That doesn’t sound good.

The first man looked at me sternly, telling me to stay put with his dark, mysterious eyes. He went over to the corner and they started speaking in hush whispers. The new man was tall, but not as tall as the first and he was a lot more burly, he pretty much looked like someone on steroids. His hair was bright, almost red, and his nose almost came over his mouth, giving him a rat-like face. They’re both rats. When they were done, they both looked at me, making my heart stop in my chest.

“Stand up.” I didn’t move at first, I think I was frozen with fear. I didn’t know what was going to happen to me…suddenly everything I knew about torture ran through my mind and I felt sick to my stomach.

“Hey! He said get up!” The second man yelled, startling me. I jumped up immediately, shaking in my skin. The first man came up behind me and grabbed my wrists, tying them together tightly.

They both nudged me and nearly dragged me with them to the basement. It was dark and dingy down there, exactly what you think of when you hear basement. It smelled like lemon-scented bleach…as if they had just cleaned up a crime scene.

There was a dark door at the end of the hall, where they pushed me inside. There was absolutely nothing in here, besides one long chain with a cuff at the end, and two buckets.

“Take off your clothes,” The second man said. His voice wasn’t as deep and booming as the first’s, but it was still scary and uninviting.

“W-what?” I murmured, my voice was so unrecognizable. I was scared out of my mind, and I really thought I was going to die.

“I said, take off your clothes.” I don’t know why, but it was like I turned to the first man for help, but his eyes held that same stern manner to them.

“I really don’t want to be violent, neither do I want to ask you again.” My body trembled when he raised his voice. With shaky hands, I reached for the zipper of my skirt and pulled it down. As I stripped myself, the second man had left the room, not returning until I was in nothing but my lingerie. The first man had turned to look away, confusing me momentarily. Well at least he isn’t a pervert.

I thought I was done, but the bigger man cleared his throat, and nudged his head, telling me to keep going. I couldn’t stop the tear that escaped my eye, the burn it gave when it touched my cut wasn’t even noticeable.
