"I reserved the table by the stage for you guys" Knox tells me "So I can keep an eye on you" he winks at me. "It's the other way around, Mister lead singer of a band" I bump my arm into his, "Awe darlin, don't be a hater. It's not my fault if the chicks dig me" I laugh at him "No Knox only one chick" I say and he smiles at me "Gemma" I say to him. Max and I are laughing "Wow, my girl is a comedian" I give him a kiss then pat his leg "Awe I'm sorry babe but you really ran into that one" Max is still laughing, "Yes bro, you did. Nice one Bailey" he says as we high five each other. Knox gets up out of the booth "Come on you two let's go, I have certain brunette to serenade tonight" I punch him on the arm "Ouch, man I'd hate to cheat on you" he says joking with me. "Yeah because I will cut your dick off," I say to him.
He covers my mouth with his lips kissing me, "Never babe" he says with his lips on mine. As we walk into the bar I see Paige waving at me, I wave back to her pointing to the stage. We arrive at the table "Hey, Knox saved us the table" I tell her pulling out a chair " ooh cool" she says sitting down. Knox gives me a deep kiss "Ok beautiful, I am going to serenade my girl" he winks at me then whispers in my ear "Who is you and no other darlin" putting my hand on is cheek I kiss him again "I know babe".
They start their set to cheers from the crowd; Paige and I are clearly the loudest supporters. They kick off with the Mumford and Sons song I heard the first night I was here, It sounds awesome now that Max and his electric guitar are in the mix, I am watching Knox and Max feed off each others energy, they look pretty hot up there rocking out. "Hey girls what can get you?" Lucy says blocking my view of the stage "I'll have a double Jack & coke" I tell her "Make mine a vodka cranberry" Paige says.
"Hey what's with the double?" Paige asks me, I frown then tell her what Knox's uncle said to me about his future "What, Why would he say that?" I shrug "I don't know, he told me that Knox's last girlfriend did a number on him, breaking his heart" Paige looks at me "WTF!" I nod "Yeah I don't know, I think he was warning me not to mess with Knox's heart or future" Lucy arrives with our drinks blocking my view again, she bends down to put our drinks on the table so her ass is in full view of the stage, and I see Knox look away for a few minutes when he turns back Lucy is gone.
I just laugh at him, Paige leans in to me "Don't look now but Bogie at 12 o'clock" I don't turn around just yet, waiting for a few seconds I then glance over my shoulder to see non other than Stacey the TA sitting in a booth with some friends staring at Knox. She has her phone up either taking pictures or recording the band. When I turn back to Paige she looks at me "What the fuck is she doing here?" I shrug "No Idea but I know who she's not leaving with" Paige laughs "Damn girl" she pulls me onto the dance floor and we purposely dance in front of Knox who is smiling at me "Hey she put her phone down" Paige says in my ear. We dance for the rest of their first set. Knox steps back from the microphone and Max steps forward; he sings, "Finally found you" by Enrique Inglesias. I am in shock Max could totally be Enrique, while singing I see him looking at Paige, Smiling to myself I start dancing again.
"Ok folks were taking a quick break," Max announces. Both Knox and Max sit at our table "Max! Holy shit you were awesome" I tell him, he just smiles "Thanks Bailey" Lucy arrives with their beers "You guys were hot tonight" she smiles at them bending down between Paige and I so they can see down her shirt. Knox rolls his eyes at her and Max takes a pull from his beer. Just as Lucy turns to walk away Paige looks at her "Sexual harassment much?" Lucy sneers and walks off. I laugh at Paige who is looking a little annoyed then she laughs as well.
I feel Knox's put his hands on my hips lifting me over onto his lap "You smell nice" he says nuzzling below my ear "Thanks baby, all for you" I say winking at him. He kisses me then hugs me closer to him "You and Paige look like you were have fun" he says to us. We nod "Heck yeah, we are drinking, dancing and ogling at two hot guys on stage. What more could we want?" I say. Just then Eric the keyboard player spins my vacant chair around straddling it "Hey bro, looks like trouble is following you" he says to Knox nodding over his shoulder.
Knox turns to see who Eric is talking about; I tense in his arms because I know who he will see. He looks up at me "Hey, don't pay any attention to her darlin" he looks me in the eye "Bailey" he growls in my ear while putting his hand up under the back of my shirt rubbing the small of my back. I hug him tighter to me kissing him, "Damn bro she is not liking your PDA" Eric says. Knox shrugs drinking his beer "I don't give a shit what she likes," he tells Eric. Max is looking over at her "Who is she?" he asks Knox who shakes his head "That TA I told you about a few weeks back" Max nods "I can see why you turned her down, she looks like a fucking stalker" we all burst out laughing at Max's choice of words. "No, I turned her down because I had my eye on someone ten times better" he winks at me. "Right come assholes, let's do this" Eric announces.
Knox and Max, finish their drinks standing up "Ok darlin I will see you in a few" Knox tells me then kisses me grabbing my ass. When he pulls away he put his forehead against mine smiling "Ok gotta go" I nod and he releases me. "Awe, you guys are so cute" Paige says. I smile at her "Yeah we are" I say and we both laugh. "This song is for my girl" Knox says to the crowd, I look up at him and he winks down to me starting to strum his guitar, he starts to sing John Mayer "Your body is a wonderland" I can feel the tears prick my eyes and I am grinning from ear to ear "Come on sexy, lets show your man his wonderland" Paige pulls me onto the dance floor, when the song is over I look up at Knox who bends down giving me a quick kiss. A few people in the bar cheer and clap at us.
Paige snaps a picture with her phone "Awe, you guys" Knox smiles standing up to sing again. "Hey I texted you the picture" Paige tells me. I take out my phone to see it and smile, I feel strong arms come around my waist hugging me "Damn Bails, that dude has it bad" I hear in my ear. I see Knox is about to blow a gasket seeing some guy's arms around me; I turn "Roger!" I jump on him. We are both laughing as he spins me around "What are you doing here?" "Oh My god look at your hair, it's so light now," I say ruffling it. I am so giddy I can't believe he is here. We sit down at the table "This is Paige, Paige Roger" I say introducing them Paige shakes his hand. "Nice to meet you" Roger tells her, "So?" I say shaking him by the arm "What are doing here?" "Wow Bails, I thought you'd be happy to see your best friend," he says smiling at me "I am, you fool. Its great to see you" Just then Lucy bends down to our table "Well, another guy to add to your collection. What can I do you for?" she says to Roger and I.
"Just a beer thanks" he tells her "Ok, call if you want anything else" she winks at him then turns away. Roger laughs, "What the heck is with her?" I just wave her off "She is weird". Paige laughs "I think she thinks, you are taking all the hot guys round here" she says to me, I shrug "What can I say I'm a big slut" we both laugh. "Its good to hear you laugh Bails, so who is the lucky guy to win over my best friends heart?" he asks looking around the bar "Knox, the guy singing" I point at him noticing that he is looking pissed off.
Oh shit, I mouth to him "Roger" as I point back to Roger; Knox gives me a shrug while still singing. Ah hell, this is not good. Paige, Roger and I do some shots then get up to dance. Knox is singing "Summer time" by Kid Rock; he sounds really sexy now that he is angry. "Hey your boy is pretty good" Roger nods over to Knox, I smile and nod. Roger rolls his eyes at me pulling me over to him "Hey Bails, you look good. It is nice seeing you happy again," he says into my ear "Thanks" I reach up to give him a hug.
Max takes the microphone again to sing another Enrique song "Hero". Knox takes off to the restroom. "Hey lets dance" Roger says to me "Na" he shrugs his shoulders then grabs Paige's hand "Come on Paige let's do this" he twirls her onto the dance floor. I go over to the restroom catching Knox on his way out, He just looks at me. I don't even bother saying anything Just pulling him by the hand to dance with me; he has his arms around my waist "Knox, that is Roger. My friend, I told you about him baby. Please" I look up at him to see him staring at me, he doesn't say anything just kisses me softly. I lean closer to him as we dance "I know darlin at first I thought I was going to have to break my guitar hand on his face" I laugh at him "Wow you are violent, babe" he hugs me closer "Only when it comes to you" I kiss him again as the song ends.
"Eh, Knox" we hear Max over the microphone, Knox pulls away getting back on stage to finish out the set, he sings "Higher" by Creed. I watch him sing with a huge smile on my face, I really love this guy. I sing along to the words with him, he is watching me watching him; he gives me a big smile and winks. As the song ends the whole bar cheers and claps for them including me, I love watching Knox play. He puts down the guitar and comes over to me grabbing me in a hug "Were you just singing to me?" He whispers, "Yes baby, I was" He chuckles then kisses me "You want a drink?" I ask him "Sure darlin I'll have whatever is making you smile like that at me" I wink at him "Oh you'll have it alright, but just not in the middle of the bar" He laughs as I walk away to the get our drinks.
I come back a few minutes later with a beer for Knox and Max and a round of shots for us all. "Don't worry Paige I got you a tequila," I say handing it to her. "Hey I introduced myself to you're hot ass boyfriend, I think you called him, and his brother" Roger informs me. I squint my eyes at him shaking my head, I sit on Knox's lap passing out the drinks "Ok, here's to old friends, new friends" "And bed friends" Roger adds, we clinks our glasses then down the drink. "Shit Bailey, you and your Goldstrike" Max says coughing.
Roger is looking around the bar at all the chicks "No way Roger, you are not pulling a def. con 5 here," I warn him. "Me? Ha! That was you Bails not me," he says shaking his head. "No, That was you, in club M, in Vegas" he laughs again "That's not how I remember it" "Hey Knox, I think you and I need to grab a beer so I can give you a heads up about Bails here. You might to run for the hills," he says laughing. I pull Knox closer to me "No asshole, you won't tell him shit" I say to Roger, pretending to be mad.
I can feel Knox shake from laughing, "I dunno babe, Def. con 5 sounds dangerous. I might just have to hear what he has to say" I turn to look at him, He is trying not to laugh at me "You're a traitor" I tell him and he erupts in laughter, rubbing my back. "Man Roger, you are in town five minutes and trying to spill all my secrets" We hear the bell ring for last call "That's us darlin" Max and Knox stand up "Hey do you guys want a hot dog?" I ask them they both nod, Knox takes out his wallet "No babe I'll get them" I say waving him off. "No, you got them last week" he says handing me forty dollars "I'll see you outside in a bit, Uncle George doesn't like people in here when we are clearing up" I nod and kiss him "Ok".
Paige, Roger and I walk down to the Hot dog stand, I think the whole town is here. "Hey Paige do you want to go to the mall on Sunday?" I ask her "Yeah, sounds good". Roger is ordering our hot dogs, "So what is with him?" she asks me "We have been friends for about four years, he is like a brother to me. A sometimes annoying brother" I tell her smiling. "Yeah, Tell me about it" It takes about twenty minutes for us to get our hot dogs, Roger eats his walking down the street.
"So where is dad?" Roger asks me with a mouthful of food "DC, until Thanksgiving" I reply, he just nods munching away. Paige and I look at each other shaking our heads, When we reach the bar its in darkness, taking out my phone I text Knox.
Me: Hey babe where U?
Knox: out back with Max
They are round the back, I tell Paige and Roger so we walk around to the side street where I park my car. As I turn the corner I stop dead and drop the hot dogs, tears instantly fill my eyes as I look at my car, Paige gasps covering her mouth. I run over to my car to inspect it closer. All my tires are slashed, my windshield is smashed the word "Bitch" is keyed onto the hood. I walk around the driver's side seeing scratches all up and down along the whole car.
I am sobbing as I reach the back; I see "Slut" scratched across the trunk. Who would do this; the passenger side has the same scratches all along it as the driver's side. I sit on the curb bawling like a baby Paige starts shouting for Knox. Both him and Max look around the corner, then come running. "Holy Fuck!" I hear Max exclaim, Knox pulls me into his arms holding me tight "shush darlin it's ok" I can barely get the words out between sobs, "W-who W-why" Knox holds me close to him "I don't know darlin, but I am calling the cops" Max takes off around the back of the bar, Paige and Roger are speechless both walking around and around the car.
Max comes back with a shot of brandy for me, He props open the side door with a keg "Hey I called the cops they will be here in a while" he tells Knox, "Let's wait inside" They all go in except for Knox and I. "You ok" he asks wiping my tears away, "No" I tell him crying again "Who would do this to me, I don't know anyone". Knox walks me back inside to the kitchen where Paige and Roger are sitting, "I am going to check the security tape with Max, I'll just be a minute" I nod "Ok". I take out my phone to call my dad, still sobbing, "Do you want me to talk to him?" Roger asks.
I wipe my eyes "No, it's ok I'll do it" walking out of the room I go through the bar towards the restroom, I can see a light in a room next to the men's. I walk over to Max and Knox rolling through the security tape, the camera angle is from the back of the bar facing the strip. "Did you see anything?" I ask, they both jump "Jesus babe, you scared the shit outta me" Knox comes over. "Not yet we are going back to when you got here the we will look from then" I nod "I am just going to call my dad" I say starting to cry again, Knox takes my phone "Hey sit down, I'll do it". I just slide to the floor putting my head on my knees, "Max" I hear Knox call him. Max comes over to me "Come on Bailey, we will find out who did this, If it's a guy Knox and I will beat the shit out of him" He says hugging me. We get up off the floor going into the office to search the tape.
