SCOTTISH ROMANCE: My Sinful Surrender to a Highlander Werewolf (Scottish Werewolf Pregnancy Romance) (Historical Medieval Shape Shifter Paranormal Science Fiction Short Stories) (36 page)

I led him into the bedroom and I pushed him gently back onto the mattress, climbing over his frame and dropping the silk black robe that I’d found in the back of his closet. It revealed my naked ebony curves. “I need you to try to stay in the moment. Concentrate just on me and don’t think about the dragon.”

“I hope that you know what you’re doing. I don’t want to hurt you.” His caring disposition had only made it more necessary to find out if there was a way to pull him back from this abyss.

“It’s going to be very painful for you. I’m going to pull out all the stops and I don’t want you to react with your mind. Let your body do all the talking for you.” I had given him a couple of sedatives and one of those morphine shots that he had been talking about. His chronic condition of back pain must have been why he was spared. Something in his DNA prevented the killer from doing him in.

I kissed his nipples, circled them with my tongue and watching for any reaction that would indicate that the dragon inside of him was going to come out and play. His tongue came out and it was slightly pointed, but then it went back to normal.

“I don’t know if I can do this. You are too irresistible.” I should’ve been able to take that, as a compliment, but I knew that this was going to be bad, if he didn’t get a chance to wrangle the beast back into its cage.

“I just need you to try to stay with me. That morphine shot and those two sedatives should do what they are intended to do. “Treat this like an experiment. We need to know what is going to cause you to change and if there’s any way that we can prevent it from happening.” I knew that the window of the living room was now boarded up. When I subjected him to electrical shock, he changed and flew into a fit of rage. His wings expanded and he flew right through that window like it was made of paper. He didn’t return for several hours. He came back completely naked, covered in blood and holding what looked like the head of a baby rabbit.

He was in a state of shock and I had to do the honors of cleaning him with soap and water. We talked about it for hours and he agreed that knowing what was going to cause the change was the best sort of defense.

Back in the moment, I looked down at his naked body and the way that his cock was now jutting out from my crotch. I lifted myself, steeled my nerves and took a deep breath, before sliding down his manly pole. I did not give him a chance to get ready and the best way to do this was by complete surprise. I buried him in my tight sheath and lay there with my legs on either side of him. His eyes looked unfocused, but then they came back into focus.

His hands gripped my hips and he was holding me steady, while driving into me with such force and ferocity that it seemed almost inhuman. “Yes…fuck me… Avery. Show me the beast, but don’t let it get the best of you. Keep it under tight wraps and feed off of it with your own sexual self. That’s it; you’ve almost got me there. Just a little bit more.” He was moving at a speed that was nothing short of remarkable. I was barely able to stay in this position, when he suddenly turned me over and spread my legs with his hands and his eyes on fire with a lust that could not be contained. He drove into me and it took my breath away. He pulled back out and slapped repeatedly against my clit with the top of his cock. He put it back up against my entrance. I had my hands on his chest, watching his eyes and making sure that things were not going to go terribly awry.

“This is too much to take… April.” Even with his eyes closed, I could see that it was getting to him and that his shoulders were showing signs of that scaly red hide. His voice had changed an octave and he was between becoming the beast and staying human. “I think I’m going to…cum.”

“Not without me…Avery… Oh god… YESSSSSSS.” My body went into hysterics, my legs wide open and my dark chocolate skin trembling underneath his touch. His cock went off like a volcano and the molten lava from within combined with my own juices to become something that was, so hot that it felt like it was burning my insides.

I saw a semblance of his wings and then they retracted and that red hide disappeared. We had accomplished our goal.

We agreed that we could not stay here for any length of time. He knew that they were hunting him and for whatever reason they believed that he was a threat to humanity. It was either that, or they were going to experiment on him for government purposes.

I left with him and I sent an e-mail to Eric telling him that I had found the man of my dreams and that I would be in touch. He was very happy for me and told me that if there was a wedding date that he would be happy to be there, as my best man. It was a little unconventional, but I had this funny feeling that the ring would be on my finger, before I knew it. We just had to stay out of the public eye and use the techniques that we had learned together to keep his dragon from getting out.

This was the guy that I was looking for to spend the rest of my life with. I certainly didn’t have a clue that I was going to have to deal with a Bruce Banner…and the incredible hulk kind of thing. Whoever said that relationships were easy, didn’t have to deal with the emotions of a Dragon Shifter? Come to think of it…the child I was carrying was going to be a handful. If I thought the terrible two’s was something with other kids, then having a little dragon shifter was going to be something else.

Pregnant and Rescued by the Cowboy

Chapter 1

Penelope Cruz knew she was in trouble the minute she realized she was pregnant. She worked for a rich white family and the Mistress would throw her out when it became more obvious what had happened. She was worried. Marvin and Lucille had been good to her for the most part while she'd worked there. She felt like she'd failed in her duty.

As a servant, you don't say no when the Master wants attention from you, especially if you want to keep your job. The pay had been okay, and they'd provided her room and board. Knowing that a baby would change all that, she didn't know quite what to do. No other family would take her if they knew about her pregnancy, they'd be afraid she was tainted and it would rub off on their family. Especially if they had daughters. It would also give the wrong impression about what type of woman she was.

Hoping that maybe the Master would be willing to at least give her enough money to leave and go back east to her family so she could have the baby in privacy, she went to find him. She could always claim to be a widow and try to find employment somewhere else. She didn't love Marvin. She knew the first time he'd come into her room that it was a real possibility that it would blow up in her face, yet she hadn't been able to stop it.

She'd been like clockwork since she was young, and now she'd missed two cycles. There was no way she could continue to deny it. Afraid for her future, she went to talk him and hope that he was reasonable and would help her.

They lived in a rural town in Montana. The family had hired her from back East using the paper. She could read, and she'd been educated. Despite being dark skinned, her mother had raised her with a family who'd been open to her learning with their children. She'd gotten the same education they had until she was a teenager, when they went off to finishing school.

Penelope knew the family she'd grown up with wouldn't take her in, but she knew her mother was still alive and might be able to help somehow. Maybe she'd be able to at least help her get a job if she went back home. With the civil wars breaking out though, staying in small towns in the pockets of safety had been ideal for her. But now she felt that traveling back home might be her only choice.

Finding the Master in the study, she went in to talk to him. Praying for the best she took a deep breath and approached him.

"Sir?" Penelope asked from the door way, her head bowed as she waited for him to let her come in.

"What is it Penny?" Marvin asked in a gruff tone as he looked at some papers on his desk. He was a big bear of a man, with a full salt and pepper beard. His suspenders held his pants up and his riding boots were stained with mud. He must have gone riding this morning. Hunting was his favorite past time besides women. His wife had never given him children, they always assumed he'd been the problem due to getting the measles as a child, but Penelope knew it wasn't true now.

"Sir, I have something I need to tell you," Penelope said as she came in and shut the door. "I think I'm pregnant. I wasn't sure at first, but now I am pretty positive. I think the best course of action is to go back home to my mother and try to find a different job. I am sorry for any inconvenience this causes you and the Mistress."

"Penelope, you realize that I can't do that, right?" He put the papers down and looked at her. "Do you know why I was visiting you?"

Blushing, Penelope at least understood the sex part of it, but she didn't understand he had other reasons for it. She shook her head no, feeling confused.

"My wife wants a baby. It was her idea; she wasn't sure that I was the problem. Now we know I'm not and it's her. You can stay here until you have the baby, then you'll give it to my wife. We will pay you well for the pregnancy, and for you to be discrete about the situation." He went back to working on his desk sorting through papers.

"I'm sorry sir, but I'm not just going to hand my baby over to your wife. I've already decided I was keeping it. I just came in here to ask if you'd be willing to give me some extra funds so I could get home so I wouldn't bring shame to your household." Penelope was shocked, and couldn't believe that the two of them would assume they could just take her baby from her. Or that she'd just willingly trade her baby for a few gold coins. She was offended, and it lowered her opinion of them. She was shocked.

"You cannot afford to care for a baby. We can give the baby a good life, and my wife wants a child. I love my wife and would do anything to make her happy, even if it means breeding with a servant. You will give her the baby, or we will throw you out on the streets and I won't even give you the last paycheck. You'll starve to death." He told her, speaking so coldly to her she couldn't even understand it. This was not the man she'd worked with for the last two years. This man didn't see her as a human, just an incubator for the child he expected her to hand over to his wife. They hadn't even asked her if she wanted to be involved in any of this.

"Sir, be reasonable, please. I've worked here for over two years. I'm not giving up my child, and I am sorry if that hurts you." Penelope told him and slowly backed out of the room when a look of anger crossed his face.

"Then get out. If you won't give up the child, you're no longer welcome here in our home. You're fired, and don't expect to get your money. Just pack your bags and leave. Now. Get out!" He yelled at her and showed her a side she hadn't seen in all the time she'd worked her.

Frightened, Penelope ran to the small room she'd stayed in and packed what little belongings and clothes she had. She'd had a tiny bit of money saved up, but it wouldn't be enough to get her home. Frantic, she wasn't sure what she was going to do, but she had to get out of here first before something bad happened. She'd go from there.

Leaving the house, she walked outside and realized it was starting to snow. Her jacket was threadbare and she shivered in the cold. She knew that to survive the night she had to make it down town to the local inn and hope they'd rent her a room for the night while she tried to figure out what to do. She knew the smart thing to do was give them the baby, but as she put her hand over her belly she knew she couldn't. She'd do anything to keep her child, and they proved with their devious plans that they didn't care who they hurt to get a child.

That was not the kind of parents she'd want raising her child, and trying to force her into a situation where her survival depended upon their generosity, and then force her to give the child to them was cruel and malicious as far as she was concerned.

Penelope would take her chances on her own.

Chapter 2

Lugging her bags outside and shivering in the cold, Penelope felt a tear fall down her cheek. She tried to figure out how she was going to haul her belongings to the nearby inn before she froze to death. The light snow fall had turned into a much heavier down pour and it was now getting dark. The temperature was dropping quickly.

Her Mistress had tried to convince her to change her mind while she'd packed her bags, but she wasn't giving up her child. In a fit, Lucille threatened to make sure she never got a good referral, or any help from anyone in town. Penelope was broken hearted. She'd come to love these two people she'd worked for, and felt like they'd stabbed her in the back.

Penelope knew they had a lot of sway, but she hoped that she could at least get out of here before that caused a problem for her.

Her toes were freezing and she was struggling to get her luggage unstuck from the mud as she tried to get it across the road to the side where there was some grass so she could pull it easier.

Hearing a horse approach, she looked up and saw the local Sherriff on his horse. He stopped when he saw her and tipped his hat at her, watching her struggle with her bags.

"Greetings Sheriff," Penelope addressed him, trying to be polite. Almost falling backwards, she managed to catch herself before she landed and embarrassed herself in front of him.

Dave Locktine was a golden boy, white with blond hair, and the muscles that had women swooning over him. He was a good old fashioned country boy. He had a small plot of land on the edge of town, and he spent most of his time working as the Sherriff. He had a couple others helping him and they took turns working the night shift. It must be his night if he's walking the roads at dusk.

"Do you need some help?" He asked her, watching her with a raised brow.

"If it wouldn't be too much trouble," Penelope told him looking hopeful at him. Maybe things would be okay. Sighing in relief that he didn't just abandon her on the road she felt thankful, more than he'd know.

"Going to your house, or away from it?" He asked quietly, surprising her with his attention to detail.

Penelope dropped her gaze, hoping if she told him the truth he wouldn't abandon her to freeze to death. "Away. I quit, sort of. Or they fired me, I'm not sure exactly which way it went, but either way I can no longer stay and work there."

"Do you have money for the inn?" Dave asked her and then asked a question that made her cringe. "They didn't hurt you, did they?"

Penelope hesitated long enough that when he jumped off his horse to pick up her luggage and hitch it to his horse for her, he put his hand on her shoulder and smiled at her. She never got a chance to give him a real answer, when he moved on and realized she needed more help than it appeared at first.

"How about instead of the inn, you stay in my spare bedroom? I'm working tonight and we can talk in the morning and maybe I can help you out?" He offered, kind enough that Penelope almost started to cry when it sunk in what he was giving her as her way out. Like a knight in shining armor.

Penelope stared at him in shock. She'd never have expected such generosity, and nodded before she could consider the consequences. He got back on his horse after he secured her bags and grabbed her hand, helping her sit in front of him. Leaning against his chest, she almost fell asleep as the horse lulled her into a deep relaxation state. She could hear his heartbeat and felt the warmth of his arms. For a small while, she felt like she was really safe.

When they had approached his house, he tied his house to a pole outside on the side of his house after helping her down. Unhooking her luggage, he took her inside his house and started a fire for her.

"I have to get back to town, but you're welcome to help yourself to any food or drink in the house. The spare bedroom is right there. The outhouse is directly behind the house off the kitchen, you should be able to see it easily enough. It's on the right side of the barn." Dave told her, and then he tipped his hat to her as he grabbed his gloves back off the coffee table where he'd put them when he'd helped Penelope bring her luggage in.

"Thank you Sherriff, I appreciate this more than you know," She told him, hugging her arms around herself. Shivering from the cold she couldn't even feel her toes anymore and wanted to get out of her boots.

"Not a problem, we can talk more in the morning. I hate to see such a pretty lady struggling and sad looking. I don't know what your story is, but if you need someone to listen, I'd like to hear it." With that he tipped his hat to her again and went back outside to go finish his job for the night.

Penelope realized how soft and cozy his house was. It may not be as large as the house she'd just come from, but this actually had a lived in feel. It made her feel comfortable and like she wouldn't be in trouble if she slept. Going to the bedroom she unpinned her hair and took off her outer winter clothes. Hanging them up on the hooks that were on the wall, she appreciated the bed. It was quite comfortable, and feeling safe, she drifted off quickly.

She awoke in the morning to the sound of banging in the kitchen and the smell of coffee being brewed. Her mouth watering, she went into the kitchen to see if she could help with anything.

"I brought some bread from the local baker for breakfast, my cold room has some cheese and butter in it if you'd like me to grab a chunk to go with it." Dave offered as he set the pot of coffee and two cups on the wood table in the kitchen.

When Penelope nodded, he grabbed the butter and some cheese and set it on the table too and grabbed a knife. Sitting down he poured the coffee for them and she felt odd having someone else taking care of her instead of her being the one to serve him.

"So, why were you wandering the snowy roads last night? You could have frozen to death." He asked her as he grabbed a hunk of bread and ripped it off and put a piece in his mouth. He chewed slowly watching her waiting for a response.

"It's a long story, but I guess if you really want to hear it," Penelope sighed and shrugged. "I'd worked with that family for over two years. When you don't have a lot of options to survive, you do whatever they ask. The Master got me pregnant in order to force me to give the baby to his wife since they couldn't appear to have children together. When I refused, he kicked me out promising to have me shunned. I was going to go to the local inn, if I'd made it and then try to find a way to get enough money to go back east to my mother."

"You're pregnant and they made you leave alone? When it was getting dark and snowing?" He looked outraged on her behalf and then the rest of what she said sunk in. "That is completely wrong that he took advantage of your position in their household. What a cad."

"It's not uncommon. Servants are sometimes required to do things they dislike to keep their positions and jobs. I just didn't realize that his attention had a specific purpose for his wife. I will be shunned if I stay here. He will make sure of it, and either try to take my baby from me, or make sure I starve to death because no one will give me work. I don't have many options. Women in my position don't." Penelope told him and ate some of the bread. Normally she was used to stale bread, and having it fresh was a special treat.

"What if I can offer you a job?" Dave asked her, watching her intently.

"You would risk them trying to jeopardize your job as Sheriff?" Penelope was shocked.

"I don't tell many people this, but I have quite a bit of money. My being the Sheriff is because I want to help keep the town safe. When my family died, I sold our family ranch to a neighbor who wanted to expand his holdings. I am set for life as long as I don't waste all my money on nonsense." Dave grinned at her, "I would even go so far to say that I have more money than he does and he's not a threat to me."

"You don't live like you have a lot of money," Penelope said surprised, then realized how rude that sounded and dipped her head down. "Sorry, that didn't come out right. I apologize for my rudeness."

"Don't, I know what you meant, and I live this way on purpose. I buy what I need. Occasionally I indulge in something special, like a new book or fresh bread, but I'm a simple man with simple needs. I can afford to pay you salary monthly to help me around here, if you're interested." Dave offered her. "I'd feel safer knowing someone was here to keep an eye on the animals while I'm gone. I've had coyote's steal some of my chickens lately, and having someone able to take a shot at them would make a difference."

"I've never fired a gun before." Penelope admitted, but she was interested. Dave was a handsome man, who seemed to be as beautiful and handsome on the inside as he was on the outside and she knew that it felt like the offer was too good to be true. The thing was, she trusted him. Her gut trusted him, and the desire to be free and survive on her own without going all the way back home made her want to say yes.

"I can teach you. I'll have simple requirements. Keep the room you're staying in clean, help with the laundry, cooking, cleaning, and the animals. I work, and sometimes the hours make it so I kind of needed to hire someone just to stay at the house to protect them. Especially with the rustling of cattle that's been going on lately. My house would be a target if no one's here at night to keep it from being broken into. Now, I don't think it would happen, but having a fire going here and someone to keep an eye on it would keep my property much safer." Dave told her and smiled.

"If you seriously want to offer me a job, and you'll teach me how to shoot a gun, I won't say no. I can also read and write. So if you need help with anything of that nature, I can also provide services." Penelope told him, and for the first time in days she took a deep breath and let herself truly relax and feel safe. She hadn't realized how scared she'd been until he'd offered her a solution and a way out in the middle of all her angst.

"Deal," Dave told her.

Penelope realized there was one slight problem. "What about my pregnancy? If I'm living here with you as hired help, and when I give birth in a few months, people will think it's yours. I don't want to tarnish your reputation."

"You let me worry about that," Dave told her and put his hand out over hers that she had resting on the table.

Penelope looked down at where his large hand rested over her smaller one and was surprised at how nice the touch felt. She felt her face flame with attraction to him and was grateful her skin was dark so he couldn't tell. Dropping her gaze to her lap she realized that this is what got her into this mess, and that's the last thing she needed now was to get involved emotionally or physically with another man. No matter how tempting he might be.

Smiling at him she pulled her hand back and finished eating, then offered to clean the dishes.

"I'm going to hit the sack for a few hours to get some rest. The animals need watered. You'll find the buckets in the barn, and my water spout off the back of the barn. There's hay in the storage loft along with grain for the chickens. The cows are out in the field with a few of the sheep I own, but I wouldn't go out there. My dog doesn't like strangers and may attack you. He pretty much lives with them full time. I throw food out for him a few times a week." Dave told her and got up, stretching to yawn. "When I wake up, we can discuss more details about how our arrangement will work. If you don't want people to know you're here, we can keep it a secret if it makes you feel better. But you'll need to see a doctor when you get more pregnant. I know I can count on Doc Sanders to keep his mouth shut about you. He's a good man."

Penelope nodded and cleared the dishes, appreciating the breakfast and coffee. Watching him leave the room to go rest, she wondered if this situation was a good idea or not.

In the heat of the moment, it felt like the answer to her prayers, but living in such close quarters to a man she knew she could respect and was clearly attracted too, she wondered if she'd end up with a broken heart in the long run. She felt like this had the potential to blow up in her face if she wasn't careful, and she would need to keep him at arms’ length at all times for this to work.

Putting her hand on her belly, she wondered what he would do once the baby was born. When he woke up, she would need to talk to him about the realities of having a baby around or if the job offer was temporary, and once she had the baby, she would need to leave.

Feeling overwhelmed she sat down at the table and cried.
