Shooting Stars (28 page)

I’ve caught up with Seth a few times online, too. He has this blog he’s been writing that makes me laugh. It’s called Crazy on the Inside. He’s talking about writing a book about his experiences, and I think he could do it, too.

Oddly, I’ve been seeing more of Mannie than I used to when we were working. I’ve been giving him heaps of tips on using my equipment and sometimes, just for fun, I’ll go out to work with him in the eve ning to keep him company (okay, and to tie some of the other paps’ shoelaces together so he gets better shots).

So, that’s it for me. A clean start. A new life.

But fi rst I have a promise to keep. Before I left LA, someone asked if they could sit for me and I couldn’t say no. A certain someone named . . .

Ned Hartnett.

Yes, again. No great surprise there, but hey, I’m just starting out. And in this game, you’ve got to use the contacts you have. He’ll be in NYC at the same time I’m going to be there for my course.

Jake’s even promised to act as my assistant for Ned’s second shoot. I told him I can’t afford one yet, but he said that’s fi ne.

For me, he’s happy to take payment in bacon bits.

And kisses on demand.

I’d like to thank my amazing agent, Sara Megibow, for spotting the story beneath the rubble, and my editor, Stacy Cantor Abrams, for being willing to take it on and polish it up.

Also, the ever- supportive group of writers at teenlitau-thors.

My husband and kids. This book would have been writ-ten a lot faster if it weren’t for them, but life would not have been nearly as interesting!

And I couldn’t forget our assortment of Devon Rex cats who danced on the keyboard and slept on my lap at various points during the writing pro cess.
