Soldiers of Chaos- Chaos Abounds: Book 1 in the Soldiers of Chaos series (27 page)

Well he wasn't the only one who was pissed at her. Trace stalked towards her his teeth clenched his hands at the ready "You fucking dumb bitch." Rachael put her hands up in surrender "Sorry I had no idea the guy was after her. If I had I would've said something." His fists clenched as his gut tightened with anger. Rock stepped in front of her "Back off brother. It's done now, the lady can't change that." Trace took another step "I mean it Trace. I won't let you touch her so back off." This was not the time to get into it with a brother over a piece of ass. Fuck. He backed up hanging his head in frustration. "The girls got balls" Reaper was shaking his head as he spoke. "It's got nothing to do with balls" Trace turned to Tex "You saw her face when she realised you got shot. She thinks that shits all on her so she's taken it upon herself to finish it." God she was an idiot, a brave, selfless, beautiful fucking idiot. King swung into action "You two call Bull he's got guys sitting on the house. Alex can you shake down Jake see if you can get him to give anything away. The rest of you get back to cleaning this shit up. And you two, you lost her you find her, got it." Tex and Trace both nodded their ascent. Alex fronted up to Trace and Tex "You should've let me take her when I had the chance." It was King who answered "That girl was never gonna go anywhere with you she's a Soldier of Chaos through and through. Now we gotta do whatever the fuck we can to right this shit so get fucking moving." Trace called Bull but there'd been no movement at the house. Still no answer on her phone. They were running out of options. Trace's phone began ringing. He whipped it out of his pocket praying it was her. No, private number.

As they pulled up to the Mint's private parking entrance Nikki reached into her pocket for her phone. She was dreading this conversation knowing that by now they would know she was gone. Shit. Her phone was dead. She glanced at Cole who sat beside her rigid with tension in fact the air in the car was so thick with tension it was a wonder anyone in the confined space could breathe. "My phone's flat. Can I use yours?" He handed it over silently. She dialed Trace's number figuring she would get the easier reception from him. "Hello?" "Trace it's me." "Jesus Baby girl. Where the hell are you?" The relief in his voice was palpable. "I'm somewhere safe." "Don't play games with me Nikki. Where are you?" She ignored his question "Is everyone alright?" "We're all fine." "You and Tex?" Cole tensed further at her soft enquiry. "We're ok but we're worried about you. Lenny got away." And that was the crux of the current problem right there. "I know I saw him leave, he saw me leave too." "You gonna tell me where you are baby girl?" "No I'm not. Look I've laid enough shit at the club's doorstep, at yours and Tex's doorstep. I can't keep doing it. I won't risk my family getting hurt anymore. I'm safe right now but I'm taking this away from the club and I'm not coming back till it's finished." Trace let of a string of swear words. Tex piped up in the background "What's going on? Where is she?" "Don't do this baby girl. We can help you. We can fix this together." Her heart broke at his soft plea but Cole was right she was better off with him at least then the MC would be safe. "Can't do that Trace. Tell Tex I'm sorry. I'll see you out the other side of this yeah?" "Nikki wait!" She cut off his desperate command pressing the end call button then handed the phone back to Cole.

She brooded silently in the back of the elevator all the way from the parking bay to the penthouse. If she thought the atmosphere had been stifling in the car the atmosphere in the elevator was positively suffocating. The ugly darkness inside her rose as the elevator climbed higher. She was angry at her father and King for getting involved in the Crows bullshit, she was angry at her mother for being a stupid junkie bitch who caused her more trouble than she was worth, she was angry at Creepy guy and Roach for what they did to her, she was angry at Lenny for making her life a living hell, she was angry at Bridges for taking a hatchet to her life, she was angry at Cole for interfering when she could've so easily ended this shit and she was angry with herself for putting everyone and everything she loved and cared about in danger. She could see Cole growing more and more tense as her animosity grew. By the time they reached the penthouse floor the waves of fury rolling of the pair of them were threatening to drown them. The door's opened and the anger flooded out into the lobby "Thank you Roger I think that'll be all for tonight." Roger eyed the pair of them warily but knew better than to argue with Cole "Mister Cole. Miss Jones." Then he retired to his apartment.

Nikki stood still in the lobby waiting for Cole as he removed his jacket and tie loosening the buttons on his shirt and rolling up his sleeves. "Run" the command came out more growl than word. "What?" "I can feel that shit rolling off you Angel. You want a fight I'm giving you a head start. Now Run" his last two words reverberated around the room and straight through her body making her clit throb. Three seconds later she was running through the front door of the penthouse thinking how fucked up she was that she wanted this, needed it. She headed across the living space with Cole hot on her heels. She nearly made it to the couch before she felt him swipe at her arm. She doubled her speed and took a running jump over the back of the couch nearly losing her balance as her foot sunk into the soft cushions. She rounded the piano and swung to face him as he stood on the other side. The feral hunger in his eyes thrilled her and had her insides filling with liquid warmth. She was sick, seriously fucking sick. She faked right, then left, then right again. Cole broke out in a grin but it was more the cunning smile of a predator who'd managed to corner its prey than one of genuine amusement. God that man did something to her. She launched herself right heading for the stairs. She made it up two, four, six steps then she felt a large hand close around her calf and she was falling forward. She grasped the bannister to stop herself from crashing face first into the stairs. She needn't have worried Cole's other arm scooped her round the waist and took most of the momentum out of the fall. She still hit the stairs but with very little force and then he was on her. She wriggled and kicked and trying to escape his clutches. Cole hissed as her foot connected with his shin and his grip on her loosened. She shoved free of him and was up and running again. He snagged her foot just before the last step but she recovered and ran straight for the end of the hall. Cole's bedroom. She wasn't stupid she knew where this was going.

She swung the door shut behind and heard Cole's grunt as he barreled into it knocking it open again. She ran straight for the bed. She went up and over it so she could put it between them. She didn’t make it. Cole’s solid body crashed into her knocking her to the bed. The landing might’ve been soft but the man at her back was hard as nails. She scrambled for purchase on something to drag herself out from under him but the only thing she could get her hands on were blankets that gave way with every pull. Suddenly she found herself flipped on to her back with Cole’s weight on top of her his knee trying to press her thighs open. Nikki pushed on his chest with both hands but he barely moved. She growled as frustration started to edge in alongside her anger. He grabbed the front of her shirt in both hands and pulled ripping it in half. He leaned down and whispered in her ear “Come on Angel fight me, really fight me.” She wound one arm around his neck hugging him to her. She threw a quick fist into his ribs. Cole grunted and went for her wrist. She dodged him getting in a few more good shots. He threw his leg over her straddling her and reared up out of her grip. She dug her heels into the mattress and bucked but he wasn’t moving. She swung her fist and connected with his jaw then bucked again rolling him off her. The roar of anger that ripped from Cole’s chest both frightened and thrilled her. She scrambled across the bed but his hands gripped the waistband of her leggings. She heard the rip as he dragged her back while she kicked and lashed out at him. She was back under him again this time he was cradled in between her thighs using the weight of his lower body to pin her under him. He wrenched down her bra and went for her breasts with his mouth. It closed around her nipple and she squirmed trying to get loose. She drove her hand into his hair and gripped hard yanking his head away from her. Big mistake. In that second his teeth sunk into her flesh and yanked her nipple with the movement. “Aaaggghh” a pained sound escaped her lips and she released him. She clawed and hit out at him but he wasn’t giving up. He captured both her wrists and pinned them to her body with one hand while he used the other to tear away the remnants of her already destroyed leggings.

Victory was his and in that moment she saw the triumph in his eyes and froze. He'd successfully cornered his prey and was going in for the kill. A full body shiver of arousal swept through her and she knew she was shamefully wet. He reached for his fly and she renewed her struggle even though it was hopeless. When he finally managed to release his cock it was hard as steel, angry red and glistening with pre-cum. The fleeting thought that he really got off on this sick shit passed through her mind. Then he was inside her. He pushed in with one powerful stroke as she tried in vain to wriggle away. "Angel" her name left his lips with reverence and her gut twisted. The game was over he had her right where he wanted to her and she was sick with the knowledge of it. She hated him for making her need him like this, in this disturbingly savage way. He let go of her wrists and ducked down circling her with his arms as he drove into her. She continued to make halfhearted attempts to dislodge him. She yanked at his hair and pulled him back when he tried to kiss her, she scratched at his back through his shirt, she bit down on his shoulder hard enough to break skin and all the while he growled and moaned with ecstasy. She felt his hand go to her hair and yank her head back hard crashing his mouth onto hers. The fight went out of her she was physically and emotionally exhausted. Nikki kissed him back and felt the climax building within her as he punished her insides with brutal speed and strength. "Who owns you?" Cole demanded as his other hand found the slippery throbbing nub between her lower lips. "You own me" and resigned to that statement she let go "all of me." The sweet burn built quickly spreading through her body then centering again on that little knot of nerves between her legs. She cried out as her body flung itself headlong into orgasm and her mind blanked. The distant sound of Cole declaring his love for her reached her addled mind as he joined her in ecstasy. As she came down from the body high she wondered why that statement didn't bother her the way it previously did.

Tex stared at Trace expectantly as he lowered the phone from his ear. A string of very loud profanities left Trace's mouth as he kicked a nearby garbage can. Obviously whatever the hell she said it wasn't good. "Where is she brother?" Tex's tone remained even but inside he was fuming. "She's decided the club and us need a break from her bullshit so she's sorting it out on her own and she's not coming back till she does and of course she didn't say where she was." It was Tex's turn to swear. What the fuck was happening around here. They were falling apart. Between Bridges, Lenny and the spank happy boyfriend they were completely losing their grip on her. "Call her back man." Trace shook his head "Can't. She called from a private number." Why the hell would she put her phone on private? Trace turned towards him as he slid the phone back into his pocket "We gotta find her and fast."  No shit. Tex wasn't planning on sitting around cooling his heels. "No cold calling. We hit up everyone starting with Jess." Tex strode over to his bike not waiting to see if Trace was on board with his plan. "That'd be the last place she'd go" Trace's response came from behind him. "That's why we go there first then we work our way through the other possibilities. He mounted his ride and threw on his face mask helmet and night glasses. They weaved their way slowly through a couple of the prospects and brothers as they carted three dead niners to one of the vans. The back of it was decked out with huge sheets of plastic. The sight of one of them being wrapped in plastic reminded him of exactly where he didn't want Nikki to end up.

The ride to Jess's was a short one and Tex remained outside as Trace went up to talk to her. The last time he'd spoken to Jess he'd threatened her with bodily harm if she didn't cop to Nikki's whereabouts. Tex heard Jess's indignant protestations when Trace insisted on coming inside to check that Nikki wasn't there. He came out shaking his head while Jess chewed his ear off and added Tex in there for good measure yelling at him across the yard. "And you Walker King if you talk like shit to me again I will stick your nuts in a fucking vice and twist so tight you'll wish you were born a woman. If anything fucking happens to Nikki I will find the pair of you and skin you alive." That girl could make any man cringe with that sailor's mouth and far reaching shriek. Tex fired up his bike and tore outta there before he had to listen to any more of her vitriol. They wound their way across town to Eros, the club's escort agency. Lacy was plenty more welcoming than Jess "What can I do you boys for tonight?" The question came with a southern drawl and a saucy wink. She ran the front and back of house at Eros and she was always happy to see a brother. "You heard from Nikki?" "Not since she got pulled from protection cos of that guy. Something wrong?" "Not yet but can you keep an ear out?" "You know I will. I'll speak to the girls too. They all love that girl so if there's anything we can do." Tex nodded in acknowledgement of her offer. "Where to next? The farm?" While that was a possibility Tex had another idea first. "I wanna check Barney's see if maybe she showed up there. Bull owes her after all." "You think she's desperate enough to pull in that favour?" "Don't know only one way to find out." "Let's split up. You go to Barney's and I'll check the farm. We'll meet back at the clubhouse." They both remounted their rides and rolled out of the Eros car park. Tex went left heading towards Crows territory while Trace peeled off right heading out of town. The list of places to check wasn't very long to begin with and if she wasn't with the Crows and she wasn't at the farm then they were pretty much out of luck.
