Spencer came around to the passenger side of the car and grabbed Cait from behind. She had been unbuckling Meggie and he pulled her against him for a quick kiss and to press her tight against him.

“Don’t be mad at me all day, please? I’m sorry about this morning. I never meant to make you mad. I worry about you and want to be the he-man and protect you. I know that you will probably be the one that will have to save the day, but it doesn’t make me want to save you any less.”

“I’m not a girly girl, Grant. I’m a grown woman who can and has been taking care of myself for a long time. Please take this seriously. I don’t want anyone to get hurt,” she told him as she leaned back against him.

“I know, and I will. The mayor and the chief of police are here today, as are most of the other officers. Maybe you could talk to them now.” She said she would and turned to finish getting Meggie out of the car. That was when he noticed how she was dressed. Both of them.

Meggie had on a bright green pair of shorts and a bright pink top that had swirls of the same green as the shorts splattered all over it. Her hair was pulled up into braids that had the pink and green ties at the ends and ribbons at the top.

Her sandals were pink with green flowers on them. She looked so adorable that he wanted to pick her up and nibble on her. Her cheeks were red from her excitement and she was smiling hugely at him.

O’Malley had on a dark green sleeveless knit shirt and a darker green short sleeve sweater over it. He could see her shoulder holster when she moved, but the cut of the sweater kept the gun from being too obvious. A wide belt wrapped around her waist. He was sure if he looked, he would see her extra clips and a few other things attached to the back of the belt somehow. Her Capris were a dark denim and fit her body like a glove molding over her curves and making his mouth water. She had on a pair of white tennis shoes and no socks. Her hair, normally pulled back in a tight bun, was in a very loose braid that hung down her back and was tied at the end with a pink ribbon. Meggie had put that there, he was sure.

“Meggie, you look beautiful. Did O’Ma...Cait help you pick these out?” When she shook her head at him, he looked at O’Malley. “I don’t remember seeing these in her things from her mother.”

“She picked them out. Not me. Well, except for the shoes. The lady at the store said they would go with a lot of her outfits and Meggie let her talk her into them. I don’t care for them myself, but then I don’t have to wear them. And just so you know, she calls me O’Malley too.”

Meggie asked to go show her grandma her new clothes and she was off. A year ago, Meggie would not have left his side for anything. Then Morgan had come into their lives and she and Meggie had become friends.

“I don’t think I thanked you properly for taking her shopping for me. I think I probably still owe you some of the money you spent on her too. Want to come back to my house after this and let me make another payment to you? I think I could make a big dent in what I still owe you.” She shuddered when he ran his tongue along her jaw and down her neck to just behind her ear. He loved touching her and could not seem to get enough of it. When he pressed his mouth over hers, she opened under his and sighed into him. Pulling her closer, he felt her second gun at the middle of her back and a pair of magazines right where he thought they would be—right along the belt.

“You two might want to pace yourselves. You have your whole lives ahead of you. Mom wants to borrow Cait for a little while and I need to talk to you.” Jamie had turned his back on them when he spoke.

“Can’t you just tell her you couldn’t find us? You could tell her that we dropped off Meggie then drove off like a bat out of hell. Grant and I will corroborate your story.”

Spencer thought it was a great idea himself. Right now, he was trying to figure out a way to get O’Malley up the stairs and into his old room without anyone noticing them. But Jamie was not going to help.

“Okay, first, I don’t lie to my mom. Even though I know I’m a grown man, she still scares me. Secondly, I don’t cuss at her either. She’ll rip my hide off me in two seconds flat. One look from her and I’m a puddle. Go to her, Cait, before she comes looking for me to see why I haven’t told you she wants you.” With a “scardey cat” from Cait, Spencer kissed her, and off she went to the kitchen. He caught himself watching her walk away and then saw that Jamie was doing the same.

“Hey! Eyes off, she’s mine. What does Mom want with her anyway? Oh God! She doesn’t want her to cook something, does she? O’Malley is, by far, the most competent woman I know, but I swear, Jamie, she is a kitchen moron.”

“Nah, I think she just wants her to help put food out or something. I actually think it’s a ploy to get to know her better, but I could be wrong. I just heard about your promotion, congratulations.”

“Shit, I completely forgot about it. You haven’t told Mom yet, have you? If she finds out before I tell her, I’m dead.”

Spencer was afraid of his mother too. Not that she would hurt any of them, or even anyone for that matter. But she would be hurt and that would be much more painful than her physically hurting them.

“No, but I did want to talk to you about your old job. I want it—and your office. I’ve been at the university for seven years now and I’m about due for the tenureship.”

Spencer and Jamie each taught at OSU. Spencer had been there nearly twice as long, but Jamie was quickly making a name for himself as a fair professor and a great teacher. Spencer knew that if anyone could do a good job as head of the department, it would be him. The two men talked about the pros and cons of working with each other the rest of the evening whenever they were together.

Cait walked into the kitchen and started to turn and leave when Margaret yelled at her to come back. Damn it, she was going to have to shoot somebody today; she just knew it.

“You are going to come in here with us and keep us company. Now, sit there and I’ll give you some vegetables to put onto this platter. I’ve already heard about your lack of cooking skills so we won’t give you anything that you can hurt someone with,” Margaret told her as she placed a huge platter in front of her.

“Very funny. And I don’t know how to cook because I choose not to, not because I’m lacking the ability to learn. I’d like to see any of you shoot a target from fifty feet and hit it dead center mass every time.” She was being bitchy, but Margaret had started it.

“Well of course we can’t. Why would we? Now, tell us about meeting the whore from hell the other day. I have to tell you, I wish I had have been there when you pulled that gun on her. She has always been a bitch and probably always will be. So tell us.”

So, Cait told them how Shannon Grant had tried to take Meggie away from her and what had happened afterwards. But the end of the day, Cait was glad she had come along, but she had no intentions of telling Grant that.

~CHAPTER 17~

The ride back to Grant’s was quiet. Meggie had fallen asleep well before the fireworks and had slept right through them. After they were over, Margaret had given them several plastic containers of leftovers to take back with them. Spencer seemed fine with it; Cait didn’t care. She was almost as tired as Meggie at that point.

After putting her to bed, Cait went back downstairs to the kitchen to put things away when she found Spencer had already finished up. She wasn’t sure what to do. She didn’t want to just go up to his bed and she wasn’t sure she should go looking for him. So she sat down at the table and straightened up the papers lying there. She was so tired that she laid her head down and before she knew it, she was asleep.

When she woke up, she was in Grant’s bed. He was lying next to her, well actually, he was lying on her, but she found she didn’t mind. His body was big, but since she was not a tiny person either, they fit well.

She thought about what was going to happen over the next couple of weeks and knew that she needed to get away before someone got hurt. She didn’t know what she would do if they got hurt because of her. Looking over at Spencer’s face, she realized that she was in love with him. She was still staring at him when he opened his eyes.

“Why do you look so sad, baby? Come here and let me hold you.” He stroked her back and held her. She felt the tears stinging her eyes and was afraid they would fall on his chest and he would be upset with her. When he ran his finger along the necklace at her throat, he pulled the little ring out and looked at it.

“My father gave it to me. See, it’s a cuff key. It was his and for my fifth birthday, he had it made into a ring for me. He told me that all cops had one, a hidden key on them to open cuffs if they were ever trapped by them. He told me that it would be very embarrassing to be found locked in your own cuffs.” She showed him how the little flower moved back and the key exposed itself. She looked up at him when she felt him staring at her.

“I have to go to the university today and finalize my paperwork. I don’t want to, but I have to turn it in by Monday morning if I’m going to be able to take over the position by fall quarter. Would you like to come with me? I hate to say it, but it will be boring as hell and Meggie might get antsy. But I’d love for you to come if you want to.”

Yes, she did want to spend the day with him, but not in public. She understood about wanting to get the paperwork finished. She had heard the pride in his voice when he had told his family about his promotion at the picnic and didn’t want to stand in the way of him doing what he wanted.

“No, Meggie can stay with me. I have some errands to run yet. And some things I have to do at my uncle’s house. I also have to meet with Captain Tucker.

He has some equipment for me from Chicago. We’ll probably spend the day at the house. Why don’t you come over there when you’re finished and have dinner with us? Aunt Dee loves to cook and she’s quite good at it.”

“All right. Sounds great. But right now I want to make love to you.

Somebody fell asleep last night and I didn’t get to make a payment. Why didn’t you just come up to bed anyway?”

Instead of answering him, she kissed him as she moved him to his back. She didn’t want to tell him she wasn’t sure what she was supposed to do, nor did she want to assume she had any rights in his house or his bed. He seemed to like her there, but she still didn’t want to overstep her bounds.

“I want to ride you, Grant. I want to feel your cock deep inside of me while I move over you. Please?” Cait spread her legs over his waist and leaned down to nip at his nipples. She knew that he liked her biting him and enjoyed listening to him moan when she did it.

He put his hands on her thighs and spread her wider. Her panties and a t-shirt was all she had on and she wondered if he had been hard when he had undressed her. Reaching down to the bottom of the shirt, she pulled it up and over her head and tossed it to the floor.

When his cock was between her legs and her pussy over it, she leaned forward and rode him. He surged up and his cock pressed hard against her clit and she moaned. The panties had ties on the sides that kept them in place and when she felt his hands gather in the material, she stopped him with her hands.

“Don’t. They untie. I’m running out of under clothes since I met you. And if you keep this up, I’ll have to go commando until I get back home.” He tore them from her with a growl and she felt her pussy gush over him.

Looking down at his cock, it glistened with her juices. All she could think about was watching him come this way. She wanted to see his cock jerking as he came. When he shifted under her, she stilled him with her knees. But he was stronger and he flipped her to her back.

“O’Malley, I need you. I want to fuck you from behind in the worst way. Roll over and stand up.”

Her body shivered at his command and her pussy wept more. She could feel her juices gather on the tops of her thighs. She stood near the large post at the end of the bed and watched as he opened a packet and rolled it over his length.

“Lean over and hold onto the post. That’s it; now spread your feet wide. Oh, baby, I can see you, all of you.” His finger was suddenly inside of her, deep and hard. She nearly moved away from him and would have if he hadn’t put a hand on her back to stop her. “Don’t move. I want to touch you. Have you ever had anyone in your ass?”

“No. Never. I don’t...I don’t think I’d like it. You’re too big, Grant. Don’t.” His hand coming down hard on her ass startled her and she started to turn and hit him back when he slapped her ass again. It felt...good. Painful, but very good.

“Don’t ever tell me no, O’Malley. Not in here. You can be the big bad cop on the outside, but not in here. Understand?” She didn’t know if she liked him telling her no either, but when his hand came down twice, three times more, she knew that she would do anything he wanted.

“Please.”

“You going to let me fuck you in your beautiful ass? I won’t hurt you, but I want to try.” He fucked her pussy more with his fingers, now there were two.

Her body creamed him and she felt him move his finger up her crack to her tiny hole. She tensed when he ran a finger over the area.

“No, don’t tense. Let me love you this way. I’ll move easy. That’s it, baby, relax.”

At first, he just pressed hard against her opening, using her own juices as a lubricant. When he moved his finger in past the tight muscles, she heard him moan deep in his chest. It burned slightly, but soon that gave way to incredible pleasure and he had only just begun. Soon, she was pressing back against his hand and when he brushed his cock against her pussy, she opened her legs wider.

“I’m going to fuck you like this because my cock is about to explode. But I’m not going to stop working you open for me.” His cock slammed into her pussy at the same time he pressed a second finger into her. Her climax ripped through her.

Never had anything ever felt so good. He pulled his cock out to the tip and slammed again, ramming his fingers deep into her hole again. She let go of the post and put her head on the mattress; she couldn’t hold on any longer.

Grunting his approval, he slammed again and his fingers dug again.
