Once again, I thank God: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

My wife, Kanae, is my greatest blessing, my comforter, and my shield against all of life’s challenges. Thank you for loving me, spending your life with me, and blessing us with our son. My wife is a gift that I was prepared to receive only because my mum and my dad guided me so thoughtfully through my childhood and into adulthood. They helped me become a man of God worthy of such a woman, and they gave me a foundation of strength to be the husband and father my family deserves.

My writing collaborator and dear friend, Wes Smith, again helped me convey my message of hope to the world in this book, as he has done in all of them, for which I am very grateful. The other key members of my publishing team are Jan Miller and Nena Madonia of Dupree Miller & Associates literary agency, who also have become great friends and supporters. Also my deepest thanks to my publisher, WaterBrook Multnomah, a division of Random House, and its professional team, including Gary Jansen, Steve Cobb, and Bruce Nygren.

Finally, thanks to our staff, board, and team at Life Without Limbs and Attitude Is Altitude, and especially to you, my readers and to all of those who have written to me to share their
stories of inspiration, hope, and faith—particularly those whose stories we’ve used in this book. We love receiving your posts, letters, and e-mails. Your feedback inspires me, and your stories sustain me. I love you all. God bless you.
