Starr Destined (Starr Series) (42 page)

“Yes, that’s what I keep telling myself.  Dad always said it was fate that they met, and that it was love at first sight.  Mum totally rocked his world from day one, and he said she completely changed his life.  Neither of them ever looked at anyone else, they were just so wrapped up in each other, so in tune, as shown by the little things - like how they always held hands whenever they went out an
ywhere together.  They were so totally in love, right until the end, and however sad we are, I think we should remember that they had many happy years together,” Georgie said.

“Yes, you’re right.  You remember how Mum used to tell us about her Irish grandmother insisting Dad was ‘The One’, and that they’d been destined to meet.  I’m not sure I believe in all that, but it makes a nice story, doesn’t it?”  I smiled.

And then I suddenly had a much clearer picture of what I was going to put in my eulogy for my father, what he would have wanted.

Of course, I would be listing everything that Liam Starr had achieved in his life: successful bus
inessman, entrepreneur, and the Starr Charity Foundation that Mum and Dad had set up, which raised enormous sums of money for a wide range of deserving causes.

But without question, if you had asked Liam Starr what it was that he had been most proud of, what he valued above all else, he would have replied that it was the love that he found the day that Seraphina Jones had walked  into his life.

The End.

Finbarr’s Song For Seraphina ~

Meant To Be’

We’ve known each other forever

And I know we’re meant to be together

But you don't seem to realise

The way it’s meant to be

What will it take for you to see

That you and me are meant to be

Meant to be, meant to be

You and me are meant to be

We grew up together, but then we grew apart

But I never forgot you, you stayed in my heart

You drifted away, so I'm pulling you back

Back to me, where you're meant to be

Meant to be, meant to be

You and me are meant to be

They say time’s a great healer, but time’s running out

No matter what I say, no matter how loud I shout

You won’t heed my words or hear me out

But I know the truth, how we’re meant to be

Meant to be, meant to be

You and me are meant to be
