Steven: A Billionaire Stepbrother Romance Novel (15 page)

“There’s my girl,” he said, as he held open his arms.

A smile crossed my face and I ran up to him, squeezing him affectionately. Steven spun me around once and then set me down, before leaning in and giving me a peck on the lips. As soon as he pulled away I asked, “How did you know I was here? Were you being creepy and looking out your window while you waited for me?”

I chuckled as I asked the question, but I really did wonder how he knew that I had arrived.

“Oh, when you punch in my code, it sends a message to my phone telling me,” he said, as he grabbed my hand and led me inside. “Well that, and I saw you on the security cameras.”

Steven then pointed to a small room near the entrance, where there were three large computer monitors, all streaming footage from the cameras that were installed inside and outside of the house.

“It’s crazy, right?” he asked. “The camera thing is a little over the top, but it came with the house.”

“Jesus, Steven,” I said, as I stepped a bit further into the entryway, looking around the main area. “This place is insane.”

The floor of the main area was made of white marble tile and in the very center, was a beautifully carved, wooden staircase. Steven kept his hand in mine as we walked toward it.

“You like it?” he asked.

I was speechless. I hadn’t been in a house like this one before. All I could do is nod in agreement.

“Good,” he responded, after a moment. “Because it’s yours too.”

I glanced at him, my eyes widening.

“What do you mean?”

He smiled and said, “I bought this house for both of us. Some day, we’ll finally come clean to our parents and when we do, I want you to live with me.”

My heart leaped out of my chest as he spoke the words. Steven really did love me and everything he did was in an effort to show me that. The thought of living with him some day made me light up with excitement.

“I would love that,” I said.

Steven turned toward me and leaned down, kissing me deeply and passionately. I brought my hands to his face, holding him there while we kissed. After a moment, he pulled away, his blue eyes locked with mine.

“God, I love you,” he said.

I smiled softly and then responded, “I love you, too.”

Steven wrapped his arms around me and we were both silent for a moment, just letting it all soak in. Then suddenly his eyes lit up.

“Oh, I almost forgot,” he said. “I have a gift for you.”

As soon as he spoke, he turned away from me and began walking quickly toward the staircase.

“Wait right there,” he called out, as he glanced back over his shoulder.

Steven ran up the staircase, making his way up to the third floor. I looked around the room as I walked further inside. To the right of the stairs, was a large living room, which Steven had already gotten furnished. Over-sized leather couches covered one wall and across from them, was the biggest television that I had ever seen in my life.

“Wow...” I whispered, as I walked through the living room area.

Adjacent to the living room, was what appeared to be a music room. Inside there was a large grand piano and other random instruments, including some guitars and even a saxophone.

I wonder if Steven knows how to play all of these.

It wouldn’t have surprised me if he did. It seemed like I learned something new about him every day.

I continued wandering around, shaking my head in awe at the size of the main area of the house. There were several giant bathrooms, with showers the size of my bedroom. Which of course, instantly got me excited.

Steven and I could probably have some fun in one of these.

A smile crossed my face as I thought about all of the naughty things that we could do in such a large shower. My thoughts were suddenly interrupted, though, when I felt Steven’s hand on my shoulder.

“Hey, beautiful,” he said. “Are you ready for your gift?”

I turned around to face him. He was standing there with a hand behind his back and a sly smile on his face.

“Yes,” I said. “What is it?”

Steven kept smiling as he brought his hand from around his back. He held out a medium-sized black box, which had a card taped to the top of it. I looked at the box and then back to him.

“Oh, my God, Steven,” I said. “What is it? You didn’t have to get me a gift.”

Steven shrugged his shoulders and then said, “Come on, let’s go to the living room so you can open it.”

He handed me the box and I followed him back to the living room, where we sat on the large leather sofa. I placed the box on my lap and then pulled the card off of it, opening it up.

“Read it out loud,” Steven said.

His excitement made me smile. He acted like a kid sometimes and I loved it. It was nice to see a grown man who didn’t take life too seriously.

I pulled the card out of the envelope. The front just had a heart drawn on it, with the letters “K” and “S” drawn on the inside of the heart.

“You made this?” I asked.

Steven nodded eagerly. I opened the card and began reading what he had written on the inside.

To my beautiful Kelsey,

I never thought in a million years that my life would change so much when my dad met your mom. I couldn’t have imagined that things would turn out like this. I once thought I had it all. I thought that money, cars, a successful business, nice clothes, all of that stuff, was the only thing that I needed in life. I thought I was happy. But it turns out that I didn’t even know what happiness was until I met you. But now I know. Money can buy a lot of things, but it can’t buy the things that actually matter. I love you. Thank you for being part of my life.

Love, Steven.

Tears began to well up in my eyes as I read the letter. Nobody had ever written me anything so sweet.

“Steven,” I said, as I turned toward him. “This is so nice.”

Steven smiled and then pointed to the box, which was still on my lap.

“Wait until you see what’s inside there.”

I set the letter next to me on the couch and then slowly pulled the top off of the box.

Oh, my God.

Folded inside was a black dress. I pulled it out and held it in front of me, letting it unfold in the air. It was shiny and elegant and by the feel of it, I could tell that it was made out of pure silk.

“Steven...” I said. “This is beautiful!”

I stood up from the couch and then lifted the dress up to the front of my body.

“Eeeek!” I cried, out of excitement.

Steven’s smile was as wide as mine as he watched me hold the dress up.

“I wanted to give you something nice,” he said. “Go try it on. But get changed in the bathroom on the second floor. There’s another surprise for you there.”

I ran up to him and gave him a kiss on the lips.

“Thank you so much, baby,” I said, as I pulled away.

Steven placed his hands on my sides. “Anything for my girl.”

With the dress in my hands, I turned and made my way upstairs. Once up there, I stepped into what I assumed was the master bedroom. It was huge and in the center of it, was a giant King-size bed covered in maroon and black linens. I chuckled when I saw it. It was so over the top, but I guess “over the top” was clearly Steven’s style.

I stepped past the bed and into the large bathroom, closing the door behind me. Then I held the dress up in front of me, looking at myself in the mirror above the sink.

“My God, this thing is so beautiful,” I said, as I admired the way the shiny black silk reflected the light.

It must have cost a fortune. I could tell just by the feel of the material that it was expensive.

I carefully laid the dress on the counter next to the sink. When I did, I noticed another small box with a heart drawn on it.

This must be the other gift that Steven was talking about!

With a huge smile on my face, I opened up the box, revealing the most gorgeous pearl necklace I had ever seen in my life. My lips parted and my eyes widened with shock.

“No way,” I said.

I pulled the necklace out of the box and held it up to my neck. The large pearls looks beautiful against my fair skin.

He didn’t have to spend this kind of money on me,
I thought.

Not that I minded, though. It was just that I wasn’t used to it.

“God, I love him,” I whispered to myself.

I set the necklace down and then quickly undressed to my panties. Then I stepped into the new dress, feeling the soft silk as it slid up my naked thighs. I pulled it all the way up over my breasts, watching myself in the mirror and admiring the way the material clung to my curves.

Tears of joy began to fill my eyes once again. It wasn’t just the beautiful dress that caused them, though. It was the overwhelming realization that Steven loved me more than any man ever had. It felt so real, so solid. I was suddenly so confident in our relationship.

I adjusted my breasts in the dress, making sure that my cleavage looked good. Then I turned to the side, standing tall. It looked amazing on me. The fit couldn’t have been better. I had no idea how Steven managed to get the exact size.

After a moment of admiring myself, I faced the mirror once again and picked up the pearl necklace, bringing it up to my neck and fastening the clasps in the back. The white pearls looks amazing in contrast against the black dress.

It’s so beautiful. The dress and the necklace...they’re perfect.

It was the nicest outfit I had ever owned.

I leaned in toward the mirror, quickly checking my makeup and hair. Then I turned to head back downstairs. I couldn’t wait to show Steven how the dress looked on me.

Chapter 19

––––––––

A
s I walked down the steps, I heard the sound of a piano playing softly in the background. A smile crossed my face as I listened. I quietly made my way down to the music room and stood in the doorway, catching Steven playing on his grand piano.

He looked over at me and smiled, but continued playing. He didn’t seem embarrassed or self-conscious about it like he did the first time that I heard him play. He was confident and happy as he hit the notes, expertly moving his hands up and down the keys.

I walked up behind him, placing my hands on his shoulders as he played. Then I leaned down and kissed his cheek. I held myself there for a moment, just letting the notes fill my body.

The song was beautiful. It was upbeat and happy, just like Steven’s mood. The song lasted for only a few more seconds, then Steven hit the final note.

Immediately after, he turned around on the bench to face me.

“Oh, my God,” he said, as he stared at my body. “You...you look...amazing.”

His jaw dropped and he shook his head. I smiled coyly and then put a hand on my hip, flirtatiously leaning to the side.

“You like it?” I asked.

“Like it? I love it. You look like a model.”

I felt my face blush at the compliment.

“No way,” I said. “I’m not exactly model material. Look at these hips!”

Steven’s eyes moved slowly up and down my body. He couldn’t stop looking at me. After a moment, he stood up from the bench and approached me, wrapping his muscular arms around my body and pulling me toward him.

“You’re perfect,” he said, as he looked down at me, our eyes locking. “God, how did I get so lucky? Look at my life right now. A beautiful girl, a beautiful home, a beautiful job. What did I do to deserve all this?”

I wrapped my arms around him and then stood up on my tiptoes, giving him a peck on the lips.

“You’re more deserving than you think you are, Steven,” I said. “You’re a good person and I believe that the universe recognizes that.”

Steven shrugged his shoulders, still looking overwhelmed.

“I just don’t know what I did that was so good,” he said. “But hey, I guess I shouldn’t argue, right? A lot of people would kill to be in my shoes.”

He held me close as he spoke and I closed my eyes, letting him hold me. The entire evening was going perfectly and he was being so sweet.

“I think that you need to give yourself a little more credit,” I said.

Steven sighed and then suddenly, the tone in his voice changed. “I have one more surprise for you.”

I gently pushed him back and looked him in the eyes.

“Steven!” I said. “You’ve already given me enough.”

Steven laughed and then shrugged his shoulders.

“Well, this surprise isn’t quite as good as the first two,” he explained. “I just made us both dinner.”

I laughed and then responded, “
You
made dinner?”

My shock must have been obvious. I didn’t know that Steven even knew how to use the oven. He would usually order take out from a restaurant or just eat whatever I made. I always assumed that he would have starved otherwise.

“Yes, I made it,” he said. “So, don’t be too hard on me if it isn’t very good. But I made your favorite.”

I cocked my head to the side, grinning with surprise.

“You made lasagna?” I asked.

Steven nodded excitedly.

“Come on, it’s nearly done,” he said, as he grabbed my hand.

He led me across the house and to the dining area, where a large dining table was sitting in the center. It was a table fit for a king, with at least twelve chairs situated around it. At one end of the table, Steven had set two plates. The room was lit by candlelight, creating a romantic glow.

Steven pulled out my chair for me and I took a seat. I smiled as I watched him walk into the kitchen. He seemed so excited to have made me dinner for the first time.

After a moment, Steven stepped out of the kitchen with a large, steaming plate of lasagna. He had a disappointed smile on his face as walked over to the table, setting the plate down.

“So...I kind of burned it,” he said.

I looked at the lasagna, noticing a black layer of char on the top.

“Steven,” I said. “I don’t care that it’s burned. I just care that you tried.”

Steven took a seat next to me. He then filled our wine glasses up with red wine. Then he picked his up, holding it in the air.

“Well, cheers,” he said. “Here’s to my new house and my beautiful girl...and to not burning the lasagna next time I try to cook it.”
