They were seated near the door as the shuttle took off as soon as the door was sealed. Thirty minutes later they were exiting to a hover car. Stevr drove them to his parent’s house where a welcome party for Careena and the boys was planned. While Lista came and dragged her mother away, someone took the boys to a playroom, and Stevr and Geena sat at the edge of the party letting people come to them.
“One of your brothers seems to be missing and one seems to be fascinated with Careena.” Geena observed.
Stevr noticed right after Geena commented Tylar rushed out of the house. “Perhaps you were mistaken about Tylar’s interest?” Geena raised a brow at him. Okay, Tylar was acting strange. “I don’t see Jorgr. Maybe he is at work.”
His parents made their way over to meet his mate and his mother hugged her. All the brothers except Tylar and Jorgr came to meet her too. Razar and Lista came over last as her mother went to watch the twins play. Stevr got Razar alone so they could talk.
“Where is Jorgr?”
“I took your advice. He’s the smallest one of us at less than six foot five. We’ve managed to get him hired at Drugs R Us as a personal assistant to a manager in their headquarters.”
“Isn’t that dangerous?”
“I don’t think he’ll hurt anyone unless they attack him. This is the only way we’ll figure things out.”
“I meant dangerous for him but I get your point. Jorgr can protect himself if needed.”
“The plan is for him to get in and out as quickly as possible. Once we confirm who our enemy is, we will deal with them.”
The conversation ended and the party broke up. Stevr would take his bride to the house he had begun to build secretly months ago. It wasn’t complete, but she would help him finish it so it would be theirs and not just his. He pulled his mate into his arms and kissed her thanking his gods he had claimed her instead of waiting. Nothing would ever separate them again and he had a mate that was a partner, his equal in anything they might decide to do. His concerns now would be for his other five brothers who had yet to find and claim their mates. May the gods be as merciful to them as they had been to him.
Tylar
His heart almost jumped out of his chest when he met Lista’s mother Careena. Dear gods she looked more like a slightly older sister especially with two tots barely out of diapers hanging on to her with big eyes full of awe as they stared around. Tylar’s mouth was dry as a feeling came over him he’d never felt before. It struck him right in the heart, he needed to get away before he did something foolish.
Careena tried hard to keep up with her two little imps but she was still recovering from her fight with a rare cancer. The surgery had gone well but she still didn’t feel up to speed. Her eyes were caught and held by a young man who made her forget for just a moment that she was a mother and just made her feel female. One of the boys tugged on her hand and she looked down for just a second before she looked back up. The male was nowhere to be seen. It was probably for the best that he had run away. Had he stayed she might have forgotten herself for a moment.
