“I can’t do that—“

“Then you can and will leave my building.” He moved to the door again and she knew that he was serious.

“Wait a minute, just—just wait,” she begged. “Can’t I do something else?”

“No.” His eyes watched her with the pitiless stare of a cold statue.

She looked back at him. Somehow, in this very bizarre and horrible interaction, she was able to just see Orlando Parker. Look into his eyes and see that behind the coldness, the predatory glare—there was another undercurrent.

He wants me.

He wants me so badly that he’s losing control.

She didn’t know exactly how she knew it, or whether she was even right. By all appearances, he was absolutely in control, demanding and cruel and completely arrogant.

But deep in his eyes, she was reminded of her dream. In her dream, they’d been so close, so intimate, and it had felt more right than anything she could remember.

It was only a dream, and this was real life. But now the two had intersected and she was left with a choice.
