Chapter 6      Stone

I knocked on the apartment door gently after realizing I didn’t have a key. Clarissa opened the door. She had Alyssa on her hip and the nipple of the baby bottle in her mouth. Right about now,
her
nipple is the only thing I want in my mouth.

“Here…” she handed Alyssa to me while Daniel jumped up and down on the couch.

“Jesus Christ Daniel, get down from there. Are you crazy?” I grabbed him with one hand and placed him on the floor.

“Crazy!” Daniel shouted.

“Watch your mouth! He repeats everything you say.” Clarissa shouted from the kitchen. “Shit!” I heard a dish drop on the floor in the kitchen.

“Shit!” Daniel yelled.

“Not the best role models, huh?” We stopped for a moment and laughed. I picked up the pieces of the dish she dropped on the floor. I glanced up and watched her hips sway from side to side as she walked from the sink to the refrigerator. I eyed her up and down like she was the next pork chop I was about to eat and suck on. I was hard in an instant and I swore she shook her ass just for me. Without looking, I picked up a sharp piece of the dish and cut my finger.

“Dammit!” I cursed…again.

“Dammit!” Daniel shouted.

“Jesus, are you okay?” Clarissa walked towards me as I stood up sucking on my thumb.

“Here…let me see.” She grabbed my thumb gently and placed it between her lips and sucked on my thumb and closed her eyes. She opened her eyes and glanced up at me. “I think it’s better now. What do you think?” she smiled innocently.

“I’m not sure…I think you have to do it again.” I grabbed her by the waist, then placed my thumb on her lips. She slowly sucked on it gently. I pressed my erection up against her stomach. She stared into my eyes.

“The windowsill.” I glanced over at the windowsill.

“What about it?” I whispered.

“I want you to slam into me from behind while my hands are pressed against the window.” My lips parted in awe. I felt those words shoot straight to my groin. I slipped my hands down her waist and grabbed her two big ass cheeks. She felt like the softest pillow in my hands. Daniel walked in.

“Here’s the milk, it’s just right for her.” She said to distract Daniel. Letting go of her ass quickly, I walked over to the microwave and grabbed the bottle and started to feed Alyssa. I glanced at Clarissa. Her face was flushed. She cleaned up the floor with the broom and threw the broken dish in the garbage pail, then started to cook.
Beautiful and she cooks. Holy shit! I must be dreaming.

Soon Alyssa was asleep in my arms. I burped her gently, and laid her down in her crib. Daniel fell asleep with his little butt up in the air on the couch. He’s the cutest thing when he’s exhausted. I covered him with his ninja turtle blanket and carried him to his bed.

The house was silent. The only thing you could hear was the crackling of the fried chicken Clarissa was making on the stove.
Boy did that shit smell good.
She moved around the kitchen like a pro and when she went to reach for something in the fridge and bent over, that ass sprawled out like the good Earth.
Goddamn that ass is to die for! I’d like to spread her cheeks and lose myself in that ass!

“Hey, there’s no dressing for the salad.” She sighed. “Oh well, anyway, there’s a surprise in the oven for Maddie. It’s a birthday cake for Bryan so we can celebrate his birthday.” She turned to look at me. She caught me with my mouth parted and decided to adjust her bra in front of me.
What a tease, but, I like. I really like.

“I can get some dressing at the store.”

“No, I’ll make it from scratch.” She looked for some ingredients in the pantry and started making a mixture of whatever she found.

“What time does Maddie get home?” I asked watching her whisk the ingredients in a bowl.

“Not for another three hours.” She said softly looking over her shoulder at me.

That was it! It was on! I needed to get some of that and that’s exactly what I was going to do.
My body was aching in places I didn’t even know existed. I hadn’t gotten laid in six years and jerking off made my dick die somewhere along the line. I even felt guilty when I got out of prison and saw Maddie. Even she looked good to me and she’s my sister,
I think
. I know I’m thinking with my dick right now, but I need to get some.

I looked over at Clarissa who was shaking her ass to a song on the radio. I wanted to hit that so badly, but for a moment, Maddie jumped into my head. I didn’t want to ruin her friendship with Clarissa. I didn’t want her to feel awkward around us. She needed Clarissa and I needed my family back. So far now, my blue balls will have to turn purple. I can’t let my dick think for me, besides, I have to make some phone calls to some old friends. I need money. ASAP.

“Hey, are you hungry?” Clarissa shouted.

“Yeah, I’ll be right there.” I answered. I glanced over at Daniel. He looked as if he was dreaming. “Hey…Daniel. Are you okay?”

“momma…Bryan…momma? He said. I grabbed him and held him tight. “Momma…” I
had
to call Maddie. Daniel looked like he was going to freak out. I grabbed my cell phone and called her.

“Hello?”

“Maddie, Daniel looks like he’s upset…you know…about Bryan.” I whispered as I coddled Daniel.

“Oh…” she whimpered.

“Maddie?” I thought I heard her crying.

“Yeah?”

“What’s wrong?” She didn’t answer.

“Nothing…it’s nothing I can’t handle.” I could tell something was wrong.

“What is it? Tell me.
NOW
.” I barked.

“Don’t yell…please. I’ll get in trouble. He’s coming. I have to go.” She hung up the phone and my anger got the best of me in two point two seconds. I grabbed Daniel and walked towards Clarissa.

“What’s the address to Maddie’s job?” I asked angrily.

“What’s wrong?” She held out her arms to grab Daniel.

“Text it to me, I’ll be downstairs hailing a cab. Here…” I gave her my number and started walking out the door.

“You can’t just show up at her job Stone. She’ll get in trouble.” She shouted.

“She already is.” I got in the elevator and walked out of the building in a hurry. All kinds of shit were running through my head. Like how I was going to go there and rip her boss’s head off if he even breathed the wrong way and, if she’s crying, my fist is going to do the talking. I’m the only person that can make her cry.
Me. Only me.

Clarissa sent me the text message with the address and I told the cab driver to step on it, I have business to take care of. He stepped on the gas and starts to go through red lights and stop signs because now I have a gun to the back of his head.

“Give me your license.” I whisper.

“Yo, dude, is this really necessary?” he said.

“Yeah, it is. I just got out of jail. I don’t mind going back. So, if you call the cops, I have your license with your address. I’ll kill your family first. Do you understand?” I said softly knowing the guy was about to pee on himself.

He stops in front of the building and I place the gun behind my back. There’s no security.
Her boss must not be that important
. I press the elevator and once inside, I push on the eleventh floor, my body starts to tremble and my insides begin to tighten up. I don’t understand why I’m so mad, but the fact that Maddie was crying makes me want to put a bullet in someone’s head.

“Can I help you, sir?” The receptionist asks.

“Yeah, Maddie Stone?”

“You mean Madison Stone. And you are?” She said smugly. I was about to grab her by her pretty little face and smash it against the desk, but then I realized she needed to ask who I was. It was her job.

“Stone.” I said sternly.

“Mr. Stone, can I help you?” I heard his voice and turned around. I knew it was him. Clarissa described him to a T. Good looking, rich smelling and a complete bastard.

“Where’s Maddie?” I stood up straight and approached him, shoulder to shoulder, man to man. I was in confrontation mode and one false move from this motherfucker and he was going down…
fast.

“Madison, she’s working. I’m sure you’re not aware or familiar with that word since you just got out of the shithole, but some of us work for a living and Maddie, works for
me
.” Yeah. That’s what I thought he would say, then my fist met his jaw and I knocked him the fuck out.

The receptionist started yelling and I pulled out my gun to shut her up.

“Shut up! Where’s Maddie?” I shouted.

“I’ll get her, please, please don’t shoot me.” She said as she began to cry. Maddie ran out into the hallway.

“Stone? What are you doing here? Oh my God! What did you do?” She was going to run to him and I grabbed her by her arm.

“Get your shit. Let’s go. Now!” I shouted.

She ran and grabbed her purse and we both ran down the stairs. It was straight out of a Bonnie and Clyde movie. I held her hand and we ran out of the building faster than the speed of light.

“My car. Let’s go.” We hurried into the lot and the valet parking attendant got the car. We got in and she sped out of the garage practically running anyone over who stood in our way. Maddie had balls for being so young. She was fearless, but when I heard fear in her voice today, I knew she needed help. I knew this guy was fucking with her.

“Jesus Christ, Stone! What have you done? He’ll fire me for sure!” she yelled.

“Maddie, what’s going on? Tell me the truth.”

“I’m not a little girl anymore. I’ll be nineteen in a couple of months. You can’t keep coming to my rescue.”

“What? Are you fucking this guy? Did he buy you this car, too?” My heart was racing. I was so…
jealous
.

“What’s it to you? You come out of jail six fucking years later and you want an explanation on who I’m fucking? Really? Where have you been? And besides, you’re my brother not my lover.” She barked.

“I’ve been paying your goddamn rent for five years and putting food on the table for the kids while you finished high school. Or did you forget?” She lowered her head. She’s quick with her tongue and she needed to be reminded.

“No…I didn’t forget.” She shook her head slowly and continued to drive on the road.

“What does he want Maddie? I know he’s after something? Did you sleep with him?” I demanded to know.

“This is really awkward. Stop asking me that. That’s none of your business.” She yelled.

“The hell it’s not. Are you a prostitute now? Did you give it up to him? Did you?” She pulled over on the shoulder of the road. She let go of the steering wheel and placed her hands on her lap. Her hands were shaky. Her gray eyes overflowed with tears and my heart stopped beating for a moment and then…
she slapped me so hard across my face I saw the goddamn stars and birds circling around my head.

“What did you do that for?” I grabbed her by the wrist.

“How dare you?” She was gasping for air. She was crying so much she couldn’t breathe.

“Maddie please, I just want to help you. I’ve always been there for you. Why won’t you let me help you?”

“Because you can’t. This guy is…dangerous. I thought he was nice. I thought he could be someone I can spend the rest of my life with.” I let go of her wrist. My heart began to thrash against my chest. Did she just say
Someone I can spend the rest of my life with? What does she mean? I’m here. I’m right here
.
But, what am I saying? She can’t be with me. I’m her brother, right?

I couldn’t take the little green monster inside of me that was ready to explode. I couldn’t imagine her with anyone else except for me and the kids. It was disgusting. I felt horrible. What was I doing?

“I…I didn’t know you felt that way about him.” I almost couldn’t say it. All these different feelings were surging within me and I was shocked at myself. My stomach actually hurt me. She must’ve noticed. She blushed then looked away.

“I thought I was in love until he said I couldn’t keep the kids.” She placed her hand over her mouth and cried some more. “I can’t live without them.” I reached out and held her. My body reacted differently though and for the first time, I wanted to hold her the way I wanted to hold Clarissa. Her hair fell against my lips as she cried on my shoulder and I wanted to inhale her, caress her, hold her tight and never let her go. Then, I shook the thought out of my head and let her go. She glanced up at me as if she were hurt that I released her from my embrace.

“We need to leave. Let’s go home. Clarissa is waiting.”
I felt like a goddamn pig.
Wanting something I knew could never be. Loving her in a way I knew was wrong. She’s all I’ve ever known since I was thirteen years old.
And now, I’ll be twenty-two and feeling love for the very first time…with my sister. How could I even think of hurting her like that? How?

I drove back to the apartment. A deafening silence filled the air in the car. I parked the car in her spot and she got out whimpering and walked quickly into the building without me.
I let her
. I knew she was hurt and she had a lot to think about. I just knocked out her boss and now I don’t know if she’ll have a job tomorrow. I knew Clarissa would be waiting, so I called and told her we were coming up, but that it would be best that she left and went home as soon as Maddie got there. I could hear the disappointment in her voice and I felt really bad, but Maddie and I needed to talk.

I walked into the building and pressed the call button for the elevator. I felt such turmoil inside of me. Maddie deserved so much more than me. The elevator doors opened and I stepped in. I thought about Daniel and Alyssa. I thought about how I was the only man in their life. But, then I realized I wasn’t their real father. Some doped up, heroin addict was. Some bastard who fucked Ana and left her fending for herself…no, left Maddie fending for herself and those kids.    Maddie never had a childhood and now, I’m forcing myself on her. The doors opened suddenly and I got off of the elevator. Clarissa was standing there. Her eyes welled with tears, but she said nothing. I grabbed her by the arm gently towards.

“I’m sorry. It’s not you. We’ll talk tomorrow, okay?” She nodded. She pressed the elevator button. Then, as the elevator opened, she turned to look at me.

“Goodbye Stone. I meant what I said about the windowsill.” She smiled at me as the elevators doors closed. I shook my head and smirked. She really was going to get some of this because not only did she want it,
but I needed not to love her…I needed not to love Maddie
and Clarissa was my ticket out.

I walked into the apartment and saw that the table was set and Bryan’s birthday cake was in the middle. I heard Maddie sobbing in the bedroom. My heart broke into pieces. I walked towards the bedroom, dreading what I was going to see. Maddie was lying on the bed next to Daniel, grabbing Bryan’s pillow and crying into it.

“Maddie, you’re going to wake up Daniel. Come on, let’s go to your bed.”

“Leave me alone Stone, haven’t you done enough damage today. Leave me. Bryan…my Bryan’s dead.” She grumbled.

“Maddie, please. It’s his birthday. He wouldn’t want you to cry. Let’s try to think positive…okay?” I walked over and lifted her off of Daniel’s bed, grabbing her by the waist and placing my hands underneath her knees. She grasped Bryan’s pillow and placed it against her chest.

“Stone…he was my Bryan. I
killed
him.” She sniveled.

“You didn’t kill him Maddie. You took care of him the best way you could. You did everything for him. If anything…Ana killed him.” I kissed her cheek as I laid her down on her bed. Being so close to her like this was fucking with my mind. Jesus…I just wanted to love her. Her gray eyes filled with tears, tears that I wanted to kiss away.

“Stone. Will you sleep with me tonight? I don’t want to be alone.” I swallowed hard.

I wanted to do more than sleep with her. I wanted to make love to her. I wanted to touch every part of her body with my tongue. Jesus Christ, I’m going straight to hell.

“Sure.” I changed into my sweat pants and crawled under the covers with her. I checked on Daniel and Alyssa. She snuggled up against my chest and placed her arm around my waist. I placed my arm around her shoulder and played with her hair, trying to comfort her so she could go to sleep. I was as hard as a rock, but I made sure I stuffed Bryan’s pillow in between us so she could smell his scent and I could cover my hard on. She cried and cried until she literally passed out from crying. I missed him so much, but I couldn’t cry…and I didn’t understand why.

I decided to let Maddie sleep. I grabbed Daniel and Alyssa and closed the bedroom door behind me. I took one last glance at Maddie as she whimpered in her sleep.

“Hey, where’s Bryan?” Daniel asked.

“He’s in heaven. It’s his birthday.” I placed the candles on the cake and lit them. Alyssa tried to touch the candle, then noticed it was hot.

“Be careful, it’s hot.” I warned her nicely.

“Let’s sing daddy. Let’s sing happy birthday to Bryan.” Tears stung my eyes. I wanted to cry so badly. Alyssa stood on my lap and tried to touch the candle again.

“Alyssa, it’s hot, sweetie. Do you want to sing Happy Birthday to Bryan?” I asked as I placed some frosting from the cake on her nose.

“Yes!” I was shocked. She said yes. The tears finally fell.

“Don’t cry daddy. Bryan is right there.” He pointed at the empty chair across. I glanced over at the empty chair and a cold shiver ran up and down my spine.  I glanced over at Daniel and started to sing.

“Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday to you.”

“Me, daddy! Happy birthday to Bryan. Happy Birthday to you! Hurray, daddy! Hurray!” He shouted. I hugged them both and sat Alyssa in the high chair and Daniel sat where he said Bryan was sitting.

“Two pieces daddy!” I smiled.

“Coming right up buddy.” I sat and watched Daniel eat his cake. He finished one piece then sat silently for a moment, as if he was waiting for the other slice to disappear off of his plate. Alyssa had cake everywhere. I finally broke down. I cried. I cried because I wasn’t there for him. I cried because I caused the scar on Daniel’s face and I cried because…of everything.

Chapter 7   Maddie

I woke up the next morning staring at Stone. His beautiful dirty blonde hair concealed his eyes. I was wrapped in his embrace, where I’ve always wanted to be; where I knew I would be safe. I loved the way he came to my rescue last night at my job, my true hero, but he’s done it way too many times.

I remember when one of my mother’s many boy toys grabbed my arm on the way to the bathroom one night. His filthy hands caressing my back as he gripped on my arm tightly. I let out a yelp and Stone heard me, he had supersonic ears. He saw him and came running out of the room with a baseball bat and clipped the bastard on his kneecap. The bastard went down fast, but Stone didn’t have time to run. He grabbed Stone by his hair as Stone pushed me into the bedroom and yelled, “Lock the door Maddie!” I did as he said, but that didn’t last very long when I heard Stone’s cries. The guy was beating the hell out of him. I opened the door, ran to the kitchen and grabbed the nearest beer bottle, ran as fast as I could and smashed the bottle over the guy’s head. I stood silent as the gash in the side of his head pumped out red, thick blood in clots.  My junkie mother came out of her room. Stared at Stone on the floor with blood splattered across his face. She called Lacky. I sat on the floor, lifted Stone’s head and placed it on my lap. I stared into his blue eyes. He could barely keep them open. He slid his bloody hand into mine.
