WAKING UP THE NEXT morning, I feel a heavy weight on my chest.

Laynie is sound asleep, her naked body draped over mine.

The sun streams in her windows and shines against her face.

Staring at her, my heart contracts tightly in my chest.

Fuck, she’s beautiful
.

And she’s mine.

I’m just trying to decide on the most creative way to wake her up when a cold, wet nose buries itself in my armpit.

I jump slightly, whipping my head to the side of the bed.

Dexter.

He sits on the floor, staring at me with intelligent eyes, his leash neatly hanging from his mouth.

A grin spreads across my face.

“Gotta take a leak, buddy?” I whisper, slowly climbing from the bed, trying not to wake Laynie.

I have other plans on how I want to wake her up.

Sliding into my jeans, I throw on my t-shirt and boots and head for the door.

While leaving the apartment, I see douchebag from next door standing at his doorway, his key in the lock, wide eyes on me.

I feint in his direction as if I’m going to hit him and roll my eyes when he screams and locks himself in his own apartment.

Fucking pussy
.

Holding the leash, I follow along behind Dexter as he does his business and then head back inside.

As soon as I let him off his leash, he runs to the corner and grabs his stuffed rabbit.

The thing is mangy and covered in dirt, looking like a piece of rabbit roadkill.

Dexter seems to love it, though.

I shake my head as he mounts it and proceeds to hump it even further into the grave.

Hearing a key in the lock, I spin around and move toward the door.

Who the fuck is that?

It opens wide, and a tall, muscled police officer walks into the apartment.

What the fuck?

“Who the fuck are you?” I growl, moving to block him from coming any further.

“No.

Who the fuck are
you
?” he growls back, eyes narrowed as he places his hand on the butt of his revolver.

Just then, Laynie wanders into the room, wearing nothing but a short as shit little silk robe and a smile.

“Travis?

Honey, you here?”

The pig at the door growls and moves toward her, but I block him, shoving him back with my hand firm on his chest.

“Laynie!

What the fuck happened to your face?”

Her face pales at the sound of his voice, and my stomach drops.

What the fuck is going on?

She bites her lip, uncertainty clear on her face.

“Um, well … I had a little accident.”

“A little accident?

You look like you’ve been put through a damned meat grinder!

Who the fuck
is
this guy?

And what the fuck are you wearing?”

He shoves me back, but I stand firm, eyes pinning him to the spot.

“Laynie!

Goddamnit.

Answer
me!”

Laynie squares her shoulders and clears her throat.

“Daniel, meet Travis, my …”

“Her man.”

I drop my hand and take a step back.

She’d called him Daniel.

This is her fucking brother … and he’s a fucking cop.

Wonderful.

“Her
man
?”

He stares at me in disbelief before turning his attention back to Laynie.

“Your man?

Laynie?

What the fuck is going on?”

“I think Travis just told you that.”

“Travis?

His fucking name is Travis?

You can’t see this fucking guy, Laynie!

One look at him and I can tell he’s a fucking criminal!”

Even though he’s right, it takes every bit of willpower I have not to drive my fist into his face.

I watch Laynie, waiting for the moment when she realizes her mistake.

“I can’t see him, but I
know
him, and when you’re in
my
house you’ll respect him.”

Her voice is firm and leaves no room for arguments, but I can tell she respects this man, so I stay quiet.

Daniel curses, “Jesus.”

He puts his hands on his hips, eyes moving from me to Laynie.

“Is this why you skipped out on our weekend?

Do you have any idea how worried Mom is?”

“I do.

She’s called me seven thousand times!

I’m a grown woman, Daniel.

I can make my own choices.

I don’t need to run to Mommy’s every other fucking weekend.”

“Take care of yourself?

Fuck, Laynie.

Look at your face!

Is
that
how you take care of yourself?”

She closes her eyes and sighs heavily.

“Daniel.

I love you.

Please don’t make this harder than it has to be.

He glares at her, clenching his jaw and shaking his head before turning to face me.

“If you fucking hurt her –“

“I won’t,” I say solemnly, staring him directly in the eye.

“But if you know Laynie at all, you’ll know that she can take care of herself.”

He holds my stare, the anger fading a little from his eyes.

After a few long, tense seconds, he nods.

“Fair enough.

But know I’ll be fucking watching you.”

I nod back.

“Wouldn’t be a good brother if you didn’t.”

His eyes narrow, and he looks back to Laynie.

She’s standing in that tiny robe, hair rumpled and sexy, biting her kiss-swollen lips.

“Jesus.”

He shakes his head and turns back to the door.

“I’ve gotta get to work.

Call me later, Squirt.”

Her face breaks out in a small smile as she nods.

Closing the door firmly behind him, he leaves.

At the sound of the door closing, her smile falls.

“I’m so sorry, Travis.”

I move toward her, wanting to put that smile back on her face.

“Don’t worry about it.

You’re lucky to have him.”

She smiles a teary smile and nods.

“I am.”

Wrapping my arms loosely around her waist, I drag her into me, pressing my length against her belly.

Her head tips to the side.

I’ve learned she does this when she’s listening for something, so I stay quiet.

“Where’s Dexter?”

I chuckle.

“Still in the corner, humping the fuck out of that poor defenseless rabbit.

Her eyes pop, growing wider than I’ve ever seen them.

“What?”

She snaps her fingers, causing the dog to come instantly, leaving the rabbit lying on the ground.

“He was not.”

I grin.

“Babe.

He was.

He fuckin’ loves that thing.”

Her nose wrinkles in disgust.

“He just likes to play with it!”

“The way that thing looks, I’d say he likes to fuck it.

A
lot
.”

Her face contorts.

“Dexter!

Ew
!”

I can’t contain the laugh that erupts from inside my chest.

She looks so disgusted, and the fucking dog is sitting there looking at her, head cocked to the side in confusion.

It’s priceless.

Tears gather in my eyes as I hug her to me, shoulders shaking with laughter.

When I stop, we stand pressed against one another, the dog still staring at us.

Reaching up, I wipe the tears from my eyes and smile down at her.

Her face is soft and smiling.

“What?”

“You have the most beautiful laugh I’ve ever heard,” she whispers.

I stare into her face, heart filling with something I’m definitely not ready for and swallow.

“It’s also very sexy.”

Her hands run down my back, gripping my ass tightly.

“You know what else is sexy?”

I say nothing as I run my hand under the veil of long hair at the nape of her neck.

“The way you didn’t take shit from my brother.”

Using both hands to pull my ass forward, she rubs her belly against my hardening cock and bites her lip.

Groaning, I claim her mouth with my own, using my teeth to tug on her lower lip.

Tearing her lips away, she whispers between heavy breaths.

“I want to show you how very fucking sexy you are.”

“Me first,” I growl.

She squeals in delight as I grab her waist and lift her up.

Wrapping her legs around my waist, I try to keep up with her kiss as I carry her off to her bedroom.

It’s been a week since Travis and I had our little heart to heart, and it has been the most amazing week of my life.

During the day, he goes off and does whatever it is an outlaw biker does while I go to work in the mornings and blog or read in the afternoons.

He usually shows up at my place around supper time, and we spend the rest of the night talking and exploring each other’s bodies, finding new ways to pleasure one another.

Today he was home by lunch time.

After ripping the headset from my ears, and setting my computer aside, Travis had thrown me over his shoulder and carried me into the bedroom.

In there, he’d made my toes curl by drawing three back to back orgasms from my body.

Three!

Now, it’s almost three o’clock, and we’re sitting on the patio of the very coffee shop we’d met at, enjoying the sounds of the people rushing up and down the street.

I love it here.

It’s where I do my best work, but today, I’m content just to sit here, in the presence of my man, and smile at the awesomeness that is my life.

“Tease?”

A voice calling his name pulls me from my thoughts.

“Fuck me,” he mutters.

The voice is closer now.

“Tease?

Is that you?”

“Who is it?” I whisper.

“Nobody.

Let’s go.”

He grabs my arm and tries to pull me into a stand, but I frown, forcing my ass to stay in my chair.

“It
is
you!”

The woman sounds breathless … and familiar.

“I was just heading into work and thought I saw you over here.

Hi, Laynie.”

Confused, I frown, but answer with a, “Hi.”
