Solution to
The Case of the Salami Sandwich
To keep Al Noshman from finding his lunch, Ziggy hid it in a different shoe box every day.
“I still haven’t learned half the colors and sizes,” he admitted. That was his problem!
His new week’s list of hiding places read: “Black 6, Black 6½, Tan 7¼, White 7¾, White 7½.”
Encyclopedia knew that shoes aren’t made in sizes ending in fractions like ¼ and ¾. But hats—and caps, which the department sold—are!
On Monday, the sick and absentminded Ziggy had hidden his lunch in a box of size six black caps!
Thanks to Encyclopedia, Ziggy recovered his sandwich and saved his job.
