“Daddy, leave me alone with him. And no, I won’t burn him to death,” Allie said. Once Santos had stepped into another room, she raised her eyebrows at Emilio, just waiting – and holding her heat in firm control.
“Allie,
mi amorcita
, I can’t stay away. I’ve missed you too, too much. I’ve been staying in an inn here in Ireland. I kept thinking of when I first saw you, when we met – when we made love. I wanted to give you time to get to know your father and about your powers. Ever since the first moment that we met, I have been very, very attracted to you. I . . .”
Allie glared at Emilio. She was struggling to keep her fire power leashed so she wouldn’t harm Emilio, but it was so hard!
“You mean, after you abandoned me, leaving me with a virtual stranger, right? Daddy explained himself and I turned around to thank you. You had disappeared, just like a
coward
. You don’t love me . . . if you know what true love was, you wouldn’t have disappeared like that without explaining why you were leaving! You would have said goodbye, like a gentleman. You would have allowed me to see you walk out the front door, but instead, you vanished through the walls of daddy’s apartment! You damn
coward.
”
Emilio looked steadily at Allie, his deep brown eyes solemn. “I deserve that. But I was so confused after I brought you here. I needed time to think and figure out whether I fit into your life . . . whether you fit into mine . . . We fit together, Allie. Just like two pieces of the most complex puzzle ever designed, we fit together. You’re fire and I’m air. Together, we are stronger, while apart, we are only as strong as our fae ancestry allows us to be. I want to spend the rest of my days with you, growing old and making fae-children.”
Allie had not expected that. Her mouth dropped open and she didn’t know what to say.
“You . . . you mean . . . we, what’s the fae equivalent of marriage?” Allie’s eyes were puzzled.
“We soul-bond. We pledge our souls to each other and that joins us for all eternity. All in the fae community will know we are bonded, one to the other,” Emilio said.
Allie smiled. This was right. “I bond my soul to you,” she said.
