JONATHAN WEBER

Several years ago, Jonathan Weber realized that his life was out of balance. He lacked passion and felt like he was keeping the brakes on in many areas of his life. He was afraid to live as he should—with vitality and courage.

Jonathan knew what he was looking for. He wanted to discover his passions and live with authenticity and integrity. He needed to feel vital and strong and conscious that he was living as he was born to live.

Two months later, Jonathan found himself in a class on raw foods with Victoria Boutenko and her family. He was curious and intrigued, but it was not until the third class that light bulb of awareness went on within him. This was what he had been seeking. Jonathan resolved to go raw and discontinued eating all cooked foods that evening.

Living in a country studio home in southern Oregon, Jonathan has been thriving on a fully raw/living foods diet for four years. He now feels fully connected to his life, and he shares his knowledge, skills, and inspiration with others on a regular basis. Jonathan is a loving father, and an avid hiker and backpacker. He also enjoys bicycle riding, swimming, running and sleeping outdoors under the stars. He is a residential remodeling contractor and finish carpenter and enjoys creating rugs, clothing and wall art as a skilled handloom weaver. At 51, Jonathan feels himself to be getting younger rather than older, living life with more passion, vitality and clarity than he has known before.

Dini, David founded Nature’s First Law Inc., the world’s largest distributor of books, booklets, juicers, audio/videotapes, and bulk organic foods to assist people in adopting, maintaining, and enjoying raw plant-food-based lifestyles. Along with his partners in health, Mr. Wolfe co-authored the book:

in 1996, which attracted world-wide notoriety, as has its follow-up volume
, The Sunfood Diet Success System
.

ABEBA WRIGHT

Abeba Wright has been a Raw Foodist since January, 2000. It hasn’t always been easy, but she is committed to this lifestyle.

Abeba became a Raw Foodist on an accidental, half-planned trip to the Optimum Health Institute. She had been told about Optimum three years prior, but didn’t want to be around sick, lethargic people. That was what she had envisioned Optimum to be about, so she was surprised when the people there looked just like her and were all on a quest for good health.

Abeba was looking for a much-needed rest and a good detox program. Her blood pressure was beginning to elevate and she did not want to take medication. After being at Optimum for two weeks, Abeba’s blood pressure stabilized
and is still around 120 over 80, sometimes 85. She lost weight, gained energy, and felt just great.

Abeba continued eating raw food. She took classes from Victoria Boutenko to learn how to prepare gourmet raw dishes, and was hooked after Victoria shared her experience with this lifestyle. Abeba felt inspired to experiment more with living food, and started conducting classes for anyone who wanted to incorporate raw foods into their diet. She does not advocate that everyone become a raw foodist, because the lifestyle has its challenges. But she does advocate having at least one raw food meal a day.

One of Abeba’s favorite foods is crackers. Raw foodists as well as cooked foodists rave about her crackers. So many people asked about her cracker recipes that she ultimately decided to write a booklet about the secret to a good cracker. The book is entitled
Absolutely Abeba’s Krazy Krackers
.

“I consider it to be a privilege to be part of this book to share some of my favorite recipes with you,” Abeba says. “May God bless you and keep you in good health.”

AMY YOCKEL

Amy first got into raw foods three years ago, when she was training for a triathlon and wanted to improve her stamina. At the time, she was on a protein based diet and eating a lot of SAD food.

One day, Amy met a Natural Hygienist named Arthur Andrews and asked him what he thought was a good diet for athletes. He told her to eat only fresh, whole fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds. “I thought he was crazy!” Amy says. “How would I get my protein? How was I going to run triathlon on just that?” she thought.

Arthur gave Amy two books to read,
Superior Nutrition
and
Fasting Can Save Your Life
by Herbert Shelton and her life has never been the same since. Amy was very skeptical in the beginning, but as she began reading and educating herself, her fear and skepticism went away. She went from eating a SAD American diet to a 100-percent raw food diet overnight—something she does not recommend to people. “Be gentle with yourself,” Amy says. “Going raw should be taken in steps, because when you initially start incorporating raw foods into your diet, lots of changes start to occur. Raw food is very healing, and it will bring out the stored toxins in your body whether you like it or not.”

Once Amy understood what detox was, she was prepared to handle the weird feelings she was having. She kept eating raw foods and began to feel great. She ate only raw, fresh, whole, ripe vegetables, nuts and seeds.

Today she feels stronger and healthier than ever. She follows a raw food lifestyle, which is more than simply food.
