Double Crochet Stitch
Abbreviation: dc

Yarn over and insert the hook into the next stitch. Yarn over and pull the yarn through the stitch. There are now three loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull through the first two loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull through the last two loops of the hook to complete the stitch. When you start with a foundation chain skip the first three chain stitches and use the fourth chain from the hook. To begin a new row of double crochet chain three, yarn over and insert the hook into the next stitch. Do not insert the hook into the base of the chain three stitches.
Treble Crochet Stitch

Symbol:
Wrap yarn around the hook twice and insert the hook into the next stitch. Yarn over and pull through. There are now four loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull through the first two loops, yarn over and pull through the next two loops, and yarn over and pull through the last two loops on the hook.
If you are starting with a foundation chain, skip the first five chains and insert the hook into the sixth chain from the hook. When beginning a new row of treble crochet, chain five and use the next stitch to begin the next stitch.

Yarn over and insert the hook into the next stitch, yarn over and pull through the stitch, yarn over and pull through the first two loops on the hook. There are now three loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull through all three loops at once to complete the stitch.
Dc3tog: Yarn over and insert the hook into the next stitch. Yarn over and pull through, yarn over and pull through the first two loops on the hook. Yarn over and insert the hook into the next stitch, yarn over and pull through the stitch, yarn over and pull through the first two loops on the hook. Yarn over and insert the hook into the next stitch, yarn over and pull through the stitch, yarn over and pull through the first two loops on the hook. There are now four loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull through all four loops at once to complete the stitch.
Cluster Stitch

Yarn over and insert the hook into the next stitch, yarn over and pull through the stitch. Using the next four stitches repeat this process. There are now seven loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull through all seven loops at once. Chain one to lock the stitch.

The V-stitch consists of a double crochet, chain stitch, double crochet all worked into the same stitch.
Shell Stitch (3 Double Crochet)

A 3 double crochet shell stitch consists of 3 double crochet stitches worked into one stitch. You may also see shell stitches which have 5, 7, 9, or more double crochet stitches all worked into the same stitch. Look at the symbol to see how many stitches are used for a shell stitch.
