Chapter 30

Rohan

Rohan was watching news. Son of a famous MLA has been arrested in a rape case. His brother Abhijeet, fighting this case.

‘Is he that free nowadays? Fighting for a social cause! Mental imbalance I guess,’ he thought smiling.

He had never taken any interest in his brother’s cases. He
was
only interested in the money he was collecting. But, this was different.

“Whatever,” he said and switched off the T.V.

“Tringgg…”

His phone rang.

“Hello,” he picked it up.

“Fifty lakhs,” the person on the other side of the receiver said.

“What?”

“Fifty lakhs. If you want it, come to this address,” the other person said.

And he dictated the address.

“Hello, who are you?” before Rohan could react, the line went dead.

He repeated the address in his mind.

“Fifty lakhs. Let’s go and meet this person,” he decided.

Chapter 31

Abhijeet

Many centuries ago there was no concept of marriage; religions were not in abundance. It was allowed in tribes for a man to have sex with as many women as he wanted and same was the case with women. As a result of this excessive rural liberty, the children born didn’t know the name of their fathers. It was impossible to guess the name of the father, as mother had sex with so many different men; furthermore, duels took place between men as they started feeling possessive about the women they admired. To overcome this dilemma, a rule was made that a man could have sex with only one women and he must choose that women in front of the entire tribe, a ceremony would be held and after that the couple would be allowed to live as a family. This is how the concept of marriage came into being. Everyone was contented with this custom, this custom was accepted by all and it is followed till day.

In every society there are certain rules and regulations and all the people living in the society must abide by them, this is how people
live in a community. There are however some people who
do not
persist these rules and we address these people as crimi
nals.
One
prominent rule of the society is that every human being living in that society must have liberty… liberty to live, to work, to discover etc. Men usually have their liberty but the women are the ones who have to combat for their rights. Men are usually a threat to the women, be it office, college, hospital, any workplace or a street; women always have to endure the dirty stares of men. One look in the eye and the woman discovers the intention of the man; the man on the other hand is bound by the rules of the society and is helpless against his sick desire. There are certain men who do not abide by the rules and force a woman into sex. Sexual intercourse or penetration, a slight touch to the genitals or any kind of physical intimacy without the partner’s consent as we all know is termed as rape.

The history of rape dates back to Greek mythology and the Roman civilization. Sexual harassment is often found in many places where the women work and is very common these days. Rape or sexual assault is a very massive crime and its punishment should also be very brutal. Every nation or country has different ways of punishing the desperado.

In France, the punishment of rape is imprisonment. For a rape conducted, the culprit is sentenced to an imprisonment of 15 years however if the victim happens to be very young as in under the age of 15, then the imprisonment period is increased to 20 years. If the sexual assault becomes the cause of the victim’s death then the convict will be imprisoned for a period of 30 years maximum. If the rape is followed by torture or any physical harm then the felon is to be sent to the prison for the life time.

China offers capital punishment for committing rape. Plenty of people have been executed until now after they committed rape. The execution rate in china is very high. The justice given is quick, very quick in fact, citing an example; four men had been executed and after a couple of years they were proven innocent. Strange!

Afghanistan also has a capital punishment for rapists. Afghanistan is a Muslim country and its laws are based on Islam. You are shot with a bullet in the head within FOUR DAYS if you commit rape!

In Saudi Arabia the punishment for rape is very brutal; if a person commits rape, stones are thrown at him till the moment he dies. This punishment is termed as ‘execution through stones’ which means that the stones will be showered upon him until the soul departs from his body. This too is a form of capital punishment because it means death, but the death is not easy and quick. The criminal has to go through all the pain and torture that he had inflicted on the victim, before he dies.

In India, the minimum punishment for such a brutal crime under section 376, subsection 1 of Indian Penal Code is, imprisonment of either description for a term which shall not be less than seven years but which may be for life or for a term which may extend to ten years and shall also be liable to fine unless the woman raped is his own wife and is not under twelve years of age, in which case, he shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to two years or with fine or with both: provided that the court may, for adequate and special reasons to be mentioned in the judgment, impose a sentence of imprisonment for a term of less than seven years.

Seven Years compared to thirty or fifteen or capital punishment in other countries. Strange but true!

But, nevertheless Abhijeet had full faith in the Law and Justice of Indian Supreme Court.

Under Section 376, sub-section 2-G, for a gang rape, where a woman is raped by one or more in a group of persons acting in furtherance of their common intention, each of the persons shall be deemed to have committed gang rape within the meaning of this sub-section.

Thus, even if five men force a women into having sexual intercourse with only one of them, the remaining four will also be considered to have committed rape under this law. The punishment includes, rigorous imprisonment for a term which shall not be less than ten years but which may be for life and shall also be liable to fine depending upon the severity of the rape.

If it’d be in Abhijeet hands, he would have hanged all three of them till death without any trial. But, he was a lawyer, and was liable to abide by the laws.

Collecting as much evidence as he could to make his case strong and demand for severe punishment for the culprits was his main aim.

And he was ready, ready to take up this challenge…

Chapter 32

Rohan

“Everything seemed normal but suddenly a man covering his face got out of the van and put something around the nose of the old man who looked rich and the man fell flat on his face. The other man in the van was holding a gun in his hand. As soon as the rich man fell flat, he got into the car and pulled up the windows. They were jet black and Rohan could not see inside. The car’s engine was revved up and it was gone…”

Kidnapping, underworld, betting, was something that lured Rohan easily. Easy source of money. He wanted to open a small restaurant as a facade covering his illegal betting and gambling business.

According to him the rich women of all the countries are quite dumb. There is an air of female independence and freedom and women try to prove themselves at every point. They would go shopping alone, or to a disc at night, but then would need a boyfriend to take care of them, who would run away after cheating
on them. But it suited Rohan fine. He made a lot of money from
them. His toned body and charm was good enough to lure them and hence their credit and debit cards.

But, he lost everything he had earned. Betting has its own devastating consequences!

He needed money. Fifty lakh was a big amount.

He was standing in front of the house…

It was a huge villa. The guard recognised him and let him go. It felt weird. He went inside and was shocked to see Sunil Yadav standing and waiting for him. He looked at Rohan and embraced him and took him to the room.

No words were spoken. Five minutes went by. They both looked at each other. Rohan was sitting in a room with one of the most dangerous man in Delhi with a gun in his hands. Rohan had nothing in his hands, even his phone was kept outside the room. And Sunil Yadav was the one to dictate the terms.

“When I was young, our school teacher used to tell me a story. There was this boy who was given a stick to break. He took it and broke it. He was given another stick and was asked to break it again. He again took it and broke it. This happened several times and after that he was given ten sticks together and was asked to break them all, and, he couldn’t do it.”

Sunil Yadav paused.

“We are not ten but the two of us are no less than that. If we stay together we will reach heights. I know you want to kill your brother. Even I want to kill him. My sharp shooters can do this in one day, but I want it to look like an accident. A house fire, gas leak or whatever and only you have access to his house. Only you can enter his house undoubtedly. Twenty five lakhs now and twenty five after the job is done. You will get this money plus Abhijeet’s property. I will get my revenge, plus my son Omi will be out of this mess,” said Sunil Yadav.

Rohan was numb. He was having goose bumps.

“What?” asked Sunil Yadav, “are you ready?”

Rohan was still quiet.

“What is there to think Rohan. Kill him, get the money. Start your business, join my gang. You will be accepted open heartedly,” said Sunil Yadav.

On one side was his brother’s life and on the other ‘The Money’. On one side was his brother’s case and law and on the other was his own happiness. He felt no regrets in killing his brother or all four of them for that matter, to build up his empire. That’s what he’d always wanted. That’s what he always dreamt.

So finally, he said yes…
