The Gemini Divergence (62 page)

19 January 1965

Brands Flat, Virginia, witnesses’ reported an
object landing at an archery range, then people coming out of the
object and speaking a language that witness could not
understand.

Supposedly, several other objects with mirror
like bellies hovered over head.

Witnesses reported feeling paralyzed and then
confused due to a period of missing time or blackout.

NASA launched the publicly announced mission
of Gemini 2; another unmanned Gemini mission to supposedly test
life support systems on the capsule.

Secretly NASA was still concerned about
keeping publicly known astronauts alive and avoiding
embarrassment.

Soon after launch, mission control had a
sudden and unexpected loss of power to their entire Cape Canaveral
and Houston facilities.

The remainder of the flight had to be tracked
and controlled by tracking ships that were radio relayed to an
alternate control center.

The capsule landed about 500 miles east of
the Grenadines only 18 minutes after launch, on an unexpected
suborbital flight.

Due to this debacle and the recent Johnston
Atoll incidents, NASA would forever more have a pair of fighters in
the air patrolling their launch sites during a launch.

20 January 1965

A motorist in Lightfoot Virginia reported
that his car engine stalled suddenly while driving near a busy
local highway intersection.

Not only had his car stalled, but other cars
around him had come to a stop.

He tried to restart his vehicle but there was
no power whatsoever. Then he noticed that all of the electricity in
the surrounding area was out.

Traffic signals were dark, as well as lights
in houses and businesses.

As he was scanning the area, he noticed many
of the people had exited their cars and were pointing into a field
off to his side.

As he looked into the direction of the others
attention, he noticed a saucer hovering in the field next to some
power lines.

It was making an annoying humming sound like
a vacuum cleaner.

Suddenly the saucer whisked into the sky and
disappeared. When it left, the power in the homes and business came
back on, and the formerly stranded motorists began returning to
their respective cars; now being able to start them up.

27 January 1965

NASA engineers, staying in Hampton, Virginia
while visiting the Capital, witnessed a V-shaped object flying in a
zigzag pattern over the area between Langley AFB and Norfolk Naval
Base.

It landed briefly, but when fighter planes
began to taxi from their hangers on Langley AFB, it ascended into
the heavens before they could leave the ground.

30 January 1965

On a beach west of Santa Ana, CA, a group of
people reportedly watched as a dark disc flew in from the ocean and
landed.

A person exited the craft and spoke to them;
telling the beachgoers that they were not hostile and then invited
the people onboard for a small trip to the mountains where the
pilot of the craft asked many questions about the purpose of
certain installations.

The people were then, supposedly, returned to
their beach unharmed.

31 January 1965

Kent, Washington, witnesses reported that
multiple discs hovered above power lines and appeared to connect
themselves to the lines.

“Are you sure that this escalation of
sightings will disperse?” General Taylor asked Secretary McNamara
as they walk across the White House lawn for a meeting with the
President.

“Fairly certain; I believe that the only
reason it has escalated in the first place is because of that World
War relic Lemay… You heard it yourself at Holloman, that the
Overseers just want to be left alone.”

“Do you think that the President will agree
with us? You know that he has mentioned several times that he
wanted to continue Kennedy’s Gemini Divergence plans.”

“Yes, but that can also be followed through
with a more agreeably General. Don’t you think?”

“Do you already have somebody in mind?”

“Yes… John P. McConnel. He has worked under
Lemay several times and is a consummate yes man. He spends far more
time following orders than back talking and giving his own
opinions.”

“Does McConnel know about the
Raumsfahrtwaffe?”

“No… Not yet.”

“How do you think that the public will react
to the change?”

“Lemay’s has been a General for longer than
most in American History; I don’t think that it will shock anyone
if it appears as though he just retired. It will seem more like
finally than suddenly.”

“Lemay is pretty stubborn. Do you actually
think that the President can force him to retire?”

“If given a choice between retiring or the
disgrace of being fired.”

“Lemay has threatened to become a politician
if forced out.”

“He’s far too controversial to be an
effective politician. He never tells people what they want to hear.
He always tells people what he thinks.”

The
Gemini War / Lemay Forced To Retire

1 February 1965

A taxi pulled up in front of the Pentagon,
splashing water from a puddle, in the pouring rain.

After the occupants paid the driver and
exited the cab, with one of them carrying a box under his arm, they
ran, with their heads covered up, ascending the stairs towards the
entrance.

Once they entered the building and lowered
the hoods of their rain coats, it was obvious that they were Gus
and Jack; who then showed their credentials to the guards and
proceeded towards Lemay’s office.

When they arrived, the door was already open
and the reception area was full of people, including Volmer.

Gus politely knocked as both of them walked
in while General Lemay turned to greet them, “Gus, Jack, what a
surprise.”

Gus responded, “I heard Sir, but I didn’t
believe that it was true. Are you really retiring today?”

Lemay sarcastically humored, “Yep, its true.
They’re sending me out to pasture. They’ve opened the gate and
they’re swatting me on the ass.”

“But there are so many unfinished important
things going on.”

Lemay smiled, “Son, there are always
unfinished important things to be done. It’s just somebody else’s
turn. I was bound to be pushed out sooner or later. Hell, I’m
surprised I lasted this long.”

“What will you do now?”

“I may go into politics. Hell if Ike,
Symington, and people the likes of McNamara can make it in
politics, it can’t be that damn hard.”

“Well what about Mr. Volmer and Mr. Von
Braun? Aren’t you afraid that they will be politically forced out
by Johnson or somebody else if you are not around?”

Lemay burst into laughter, “I was always
afraid that Mr. Von Braun would have been President if I weren’t
around… That man could talk a baby carriage away from a mother
carrying groceries home. Look at what he’s done. He’s an ex Nazi
that sold the children of America into financing his research by
pestering their parents… That man could sell Menorahs at the Hadj…
I am sure that Dr. Von Braun and Dr. Volmer will do just fine
without me.”

Suddenly Jack yelled, “Attention!”

Jack and Gus snapped to attention as another
General walked in and put his hand out for Lemay, “General
Lemay.”

“General McConnel,” responded Lemay as he
gestured towards his office, “Why don’t we step in here for a
moment.”

Both generals then entered Lemay’s office and
shut the door, even though they could not be heard, they both could
still be seen through the glass windows of Lemay’s office. Lemay
remained standing while McConnel sat.

“That is General McConnel,” announced Mr.
Volmer, “He is General Lemay’s replacement.”

As Volmer and Gus were talking they could see
Lemay pointing towards the sky as he talked to McConnel, who then
responded by also pointing to the sky with a look of total
disbelief.

“What do you think it will be like working
for him?” asked Gus.

Lemay stood calmly behind his desk exhaling
smoke from his cigar as McConnel stood from a seated position
waiving his arms frantically in a bit of a tantrum; obviously not
liking whatever Lemay was telling him.

Volmer answered, “I hear that we are being
reassigned to report to a new directorate. Apparently the new
Presidential Administration believes that we should be controlled
at a lower level, so there is going to be a commander in the Air
Force Space Command that we will now be reporting to.”

Lemay held his hand out with his cigar
between his fingers as he said something else to McConnel, who then
let his head fall into his hands as though he had been
overwhelmed.

Lemay then made an expression as if he had
just thought of something else, then gestured for Volmer to come
into his office.

Volmer walked to his door and opened it as
the General abruptly asked, “Dr. Volmer, has the address of my home
sweet domicile been scrubbed from military records… I wouldn’t want
anything falling out of the sky onto me during my golden
years.”

“Why yes sir. All of the proper preparations
have been made,” answered Volmer who then gestured towards McConnel
still cowering in his hands, “I see that you have briefed your
replacement about our secret adversaries.”

McConnel moaned through his hands, “What on
earth have I gotten myself into?”

Lemay shoved his wooden cigar box across his
desk towards McConnel as he suggested, “Here, these always seemed
to help.”

Lemay then walked to his door and announced,
“I am going to enjoy watching the news in the coming years as those
yahoos in the ‘Blanca Casa’ try to explain away the world going to
hell in a hand basket… McNamara thinks that he can appease them,
but he’s going to be surprised when the shit really hits the
fan.”

Gus walked over to Lemay and handed him the
box that he was carrying.

“What’s this?” asked Lemay.

“A retirement present… I thought that it
would be the best bang for the buck on a sergeants pay.”

Lemay opened the box to reveal a new pair of
Army Air Corp issue brown shoes.

“Well I’ll be,” Lemay smiled as he asked,
“How did you know my size?”

Gus blushed and pointed to Volmer, “Mr.
Volmer had your home phone number, so I called your wife and
asked.”

Lemay laughed, “I guess I shouldn’t be
surprised that the best information gathering organization that has
ever been created could figure out my shoe size… Hell, the CIA
figured out Castro’s hat and shoe sizes when they tried to poison
him.”

Gus went on, “I didn’t know if you would ever
wear them, but I knew that they would probably have some sentiment
for you.”

Lemay closed the box and proudly put them
under his arm, “I damn sure won’t be barefoot in my pine box
now!”

5 February 1965

The FBI intercepted information, prior to it
being leaked, from an informant working within NASA.

It seemed as though the informant had been
divulging secret information on UFOs witnessed by NASA astronauts
to investigative reporters.

The informant had obtained film of a UFO
destroying a Gemini rocket, and documents explaining that Gemini 3
was going to have special devices to detect UFOs.

The Feds were relieved that the mole had not
uncovered any information about the actual war, but they still
attempted to cover every thing up like the breach had never
happened.

*~*

The Soviets continued launching their Almaz
equivalents of our MOLs to assist in the new war over the earth, as
isolated skirmishes between the Overseers and the new
American-Soviet fleets continued.

16 February 1965

A large meteor like object was reported
falling from the sky by many witnesses over South Dakota.

17 February 1965

NASA launched Ranger 8 in their newest
attempt to take photographic reconnaissance images of the moon.

It managed to take a few inert photos before
transmitting an image of obvious human habitation; some type of
city or installation.

Almost immediately after transmitting the
image of Raumsfahrtwaffe activity on the moon, NASA lost total
contact with Ranger 8.

They kept the pictures secret and told the
public that Ranger 8 had a technical glitch and crashed onto the
moon before any photographs could be taken.

In a total underestimation of what the
Soviet’s reaction would be; the Johnson administration shared the
images as well as the lunar coordinates with the Soviet
Consulate.

Without announcing their intentions, the
Soviets quickly launched a nuclear tipped missile at the newly
discovered moon base.
