Ibid. describes this as “Tigellinus’ Aemilian property.” This could refer to either of two buildings. The first was the Aemilian Basilica in the Forum; the second, the Aemilian warehouse complex at the docks in Regio XIII. The property in question is most likely to have been the basilica. The fire spread from the Aemilian property up onto the Capitoline Mount and, from it, to the Campus Martius. Had this new fire started at the warehouse complex, it had to pass over districts already razed in the initial blaze to reach the Capitoline Mount, whereas the basilica stood right at the foot of the Capitol.
