The Healthy Green Drink Diet (24 page)

Ginger Snap

Ingredients

3–4 handfuls spinach

1 small anise bulb

ginger to taste

3–4 dates

1 cup frozen cherries

(optional)

Juice spinach, anise, and ginger. Toss in a blender with dates and, for a Ginger Roy Rogers, add cherries.

Blend. Serve over ice.

This is practically a liquid dessert. Anise is great for digestion and paired with ginger, this drink is a

perfect after-meal delight. The anise has a sophisticated licorice flavor that when paired with the

sweetness of the dates makes for a dreamy combination.

The ginger adds a nice bite that helps steer you away from diabetic shock. Throw in a few frozen

cherries to brighten it up or dare I say, add a scoop of sugar-free coconut ice cream for a float you

won’t soon forget.

Blimey Mary!

Ingredients

2 medium tomatoes

2 celery stalks

1 bunch watercress

1–2 green onions (to taste)

1–2 carrots

1 lime (peeled)

Tabasco and pepper to taste

Juice. Add tabasco and pepper.

A more savory flavor profile, the Blimey has heat, spice, and a double shot of nutrients. Celery, known

as the zero-calorie vegetable, yields a sweet, savory, and slightly salty taste while the watercress and

green onion spice it up a bit.

Tomatoes, the highlight of this drink, accounts for the slight sweet flavor and contains high levels of

lycopene, known to fight against a list of cancers.

Add a dash of Tabasco for an extra kick and you’ve got a simple way to get that tomato juice taste

without adding an unnecessary amount of sodium to your diet.

Cold Killah

1 lemon (peeled)

ginger to taste

1 clove garlic

45–50 drops echinacea

2–3 carrots

1 sweet red bell pepper

Juice. add echinacea and mix.

Packed with vitamin C, Cold Killah is the perfect cure or preemptive strike during cold season. Not

only is echinacea known to boost the immune system, but so does the high amount of beta-carotene

from both the carrots and red bell pepper.

Juicing to fight colds and illness is always a healthier and tastier alternative to those powdered cure

packets any day. Sensing that tickle in your throat? Juice up a batch of Cold Killah, it’ll stop that cold

bug in its tracks.

Gold ‘n’ Delicious

2 golden delicious apples

1 kiwi (peeled)

2 cups chopped mustard greens

Another dark green with heavy cancer-fighting properties, mustard greens have a spicier flavor
