The McClane Apocalypse: Book Two (44 page)

“Stop it. I mean it, Hannah. You’re going to make me angry,” Kelly reprimands weakly. He stands before her, and if she’s right, the bed is behind him so he’ll have to shove her out of the way to get around her.

I
mean it, Kelly. I want you,” she lowers her voice and whispers the sentiment as she reaches out for him again. Instead of stopping her, Kelly sits on the bed directly in front of her in a surprising twist of events. When Hannah reaches this time for him, she catches a handful of his thick hair because his head is bowed.

“Don’t do this, Hannah. I can’t resist you anymore. You just need to be patient because the right guy’s gonna come along someday, and you’ll have the life you were meant to have with him,” he says with defeat. It angers Hannah to no end that he doesn’t believe he’s that man.

“You are the right guy, the man I’m meant to be with and have. Don’t you see that? There is no one better,” she explains again. Why won’t he just get it? Perhaps she needs to take Sue’s advice and literally instead of figuratively hit him over the head.

She jumps when she feels his hands clasp her thighs and then slide around to embrace her legs all the way to the back. Kelly presses his head to her stomach as she strokes his hair. She wraps her arms around his head and presses him even closer, and he lays a hot cheek against her. The heat of him permeates straight through the thin, light cotton of her gown as if she wears nothing at all.

“You don’t know me, Hannah. I’ve done... terrible things,” he says with great emotion.

“You’ve done incredibly selfless things, too,” she clarifies for him. He huffs and shakes his head against her midsection in disagreement. Needing to be closer to him in a way that feels almost desperate, Hanna moves forward and straddles Kelly’s lap, not caring what he might think of her bold action. Her hands glide down to his waist, and she finds a bath towel. Apparently he had not been kidding when he had said he wasn’t dressed.

“Kelly, you’re a wonderful man and an even better father, whether you wanted that role or not. There’s so much tenderness and light inside of you...”

“No!” he hisses fiercely. “Don’t you see, Hannah? There’s not. All I’ve seen, hell, all I’ve done has taken that from me.”

“Stop, please.” Hannah places both of her hands on either side of his face and raises it to look at her. Though she cannot return his gaze, it is important for him to see her when she says this: “Kelly, I see you. I see
you
.” Hannah places her hand flat against Kelly’s chest, against his beating heart.

“I’ll never be good enough for you,” he admits with dejection and disgust. She shakes her head at him.

“You don’t have to be. You just have to love me, Kelly,” she pleads on a broken sob.

Her plea is apparently more than he can take, and with one sweeping motion he is to his feet, and she is in his arms where she belongs, where she’s always belonged.

“Hannah,” he manages before his mouth descends on hers with a passion that is finally freed, that he can finally unleash upon them both.

He holds her with her legs wrapped around his middle for quite some time while his mouth moves ferociously against hers in a kiss like none other they’ve shared. If his arms are getting tired, then he doesn’t complain of it but continues to suspend her against him. His tongue dives into her mouth aggressively and Hannah moans against the onslaught. Finally, he turns and places her gently, softly onto his mattress and follows her down, his mouth never leaving hers. Kelly is laying half on top of and half beside her, probably because he doesn’t want to smash her. Little does he know she wants his full weight on her and now. His mouth leaves hers to kiss her chin, her neck, behind her ear which gives her delicious chills down her entire body. When he comes back to her mouth again, he cradles her face with his large hands.

“I love you, Hannah,” he finally confesses and new tears form in Hannah’s sightless eyes.

Very poignantly and without conceit, Hannah simply answers, “I know.”

He groans and buries his face in her neck and hair and tangles his fingers into her long locks as Hannah smiles against his cheek. Her fingertips trace a pattern down his back and over his bare buttocks. Where had his towel gone? Who cares anyways? Her light, unskilled touch makes him groan again.

“What don’t you know, woman?” he teases, his breath against her neck and trailing lower until his mouth is at her breast through her filmy gown. She doesn’t answer him but smiles coyly, earning another brief kiss.

“I know a few things you might not, though,” he predicts as his hand slides to her waist and down over one hip. They roam with wild recklessness over her body, skimming lightly, pressing firmly, touching gently.

“Oh?” she asks him jauntily.

“I know you have on too many clothes, for instance,” he clarifies. Hannah almost laughs, but his hand is on her thigh and traveling higher and higher until it rests between her legs against her through her gown. She can hear her own, rushed panting as the heat from his palm presses into her, and his long fingers explore of their own volition. “Don’t you think?”

“Wh...what?” Had he asked her a question? If he had, she surely didn’t hear it. His hands are both torturing her endlessly, and her ability to reason and, obviously, listen has gone somewhere, too. He chuckles against her neck and kisses her there. Her thighs tremble against his arm, but she can’t seem to get them to stop. His hand leaves her, causing her to cry out.

“Patience, love. We need this dress off first,” he says calmly.

How can he sound so calm when she feels like she’s about to explode? He whisks her gown over her head in one fell swoop, and Hannah lay before him in just her panties. She doesn’t feel embarrassed, strangely enough.

“Jesus,” he groans.

Well, she didn’t until he swore the Lord’s name in vain. She makes a poor attempt at covering herself because he’s stopped touching her and has moved back from her body several inches. There is a cool draft flowing over her bare skin. “What? What is it? Am I not...?” This is mortifying.

“I... it’s just... I’ve never seen anything like you before, Hannah. You’re so perfect,” Kelly swears and Hannah yanks him down to her, this time pulling his full weight onto her.

Her bare breasts press into his chest which is coated in a soft fur. The difference in her silky, smooth skin and his hairy chest is almost more than her enflamed senses can take. She’d thought he’d found her wanting, lacking when he’d looked down upon her naked form, but what he’d said had been like gasoline on a fire.

“I wish you couldn’t see, either,” she remarks aloud and tries to cover her body again when he leans back.

“Are you kidding me? You’re the best thing I’ve ever laid eyes on my whole life, Hannah,” he whispers into her ear and then kisses her there.

Kelly takes both of her hands into his one and raises them above her head as he lavishes her neck and breasts with teasing kisses and licks. His other hand reaches between them again and touches her so intimately, igniting an all new flame through the light silk of her panties. Then he presses his hips into hers, and Hannah about jumps off the bed. Kelly strips her panties down over her thighs, calves and then ankles and sets them somewhere.

She stutters as he presses himself most intimately against her, “Uh... wait... I don’t know, I mean I don’t think this is...,”

Hannah pulls one hand free and traces down Kelly’s chest to his flat stomach, following the trail of thin hair until she grasps him in her palm. That doesn’t seem quite right. He sucks in a sharp breath, and she releases him quickly. This might have been a mistake.

“Wait! Kelly, wait. This isn’t going to work,” she explains and feels his brow furrow against her forehead.

“Trust me, it’s working,” he chuckles against her mouth and kisses her thoroughly again. But when Kelly grinds himself gently against her again, she pulls away, even though it does feel rather heavenly.

“No, I mean it,” she says and pushes him back with her other hand.

“What is it, Hannah? What’s wrong?” he asks nervously and tries to hold himself still.

“I... I didn’t think this through very well. You’re just... I mean maybe it’s me... but, oh...,” Hannah is frustrated and embarrassed and wishing she was still in her own room and had never attempted this.

“Baby, just tell me,” he endears, and Hannah wraps her arms around his neck and buries her face there. Why had he gone and called her that? So unfair.

“That... I mean you... just seem, you know... too big for this to work,” she explains and covers her face in mortification. Oh Lord, if you feel any pity on me, then make this just be an embarrassing dream. He barks a loud laugh and then immediately tries to lower his voice for fear of waking the children or people on the higher floors.

“Oh Hannah, you never cease to surprise me. You’ve never had sex before, right?”

“Of course not,” Hannah says indignantly. She thought he already understood that.

“I kind of knew that. Just trust me. Look, don’t worry, ok?” He kisses her mouth again, and she can tell he is still smiling. His kiss is brief which makes her angry.

“I just don’t think that’s right,” she explains with all her vast knowledge as she points south between their two bodies. Kelly smiles against her cheek and kisses her there, followed by one to her chin.

“This will work, baby. I promise. I won’t hurt you. Well, maybe a little but I’ll try not to. I love you, Hannah. I would never hurt you, ok? Trust me?” he asks against her mouth, and once again Hannah is swept along a tide of passion so tumultuous that it scares her. She nods when he pulls back once more, and his fingers and hands and lips and tongue set her body aflame again.

And in the end, Kelly was right as he joins their two bodies to become one a short while later. He is sweet and gentle, and his lovemaking is sublime perfection to Hannah, though she is not in possession of the proper education to make such grand speculations. She feels certain that Kelly will make an excellent instructor in this particular field of his expertise. His movements are loving and tender at first as he brings her to the peak of ecstasy. His hands move about her body and between them to touch her in ways she’d never thought possible. His mouth pulls at her breast, the scratchy whiskers of his beard brushing against the tender skin there, creating a heavenly friction. But the gentle restraint he’s used with her ends rather quickly as his motions become more uninhibited. He builds them both toward the same release, holding his hand over her mouth lightly to squelch her cries of pleasure as she crests over the peak. Her body quivers as he plunges deep a final time, joining her in their very own plateau in the clouds and releasing an unsuppressed moan into the base of her slim shoulder.

When his breathing slows again, Kelly rolls to his side, dragging her along as Hannah spreads herself wantonly across his chest. Her fingers idly stroke through the short hairs covering his pectoral muscles.

“Hannah McClane, I do believe you took the Lord’s name in vain, young lady,” he teases as he plays his fingers through her freshly tangled hair.

“Oh my,” she says when she finally can. “Is it always like this?”

“No,” he chuckles. “Not that I’ve ever experienced.”

“Really? I thought you had experience.”

“Yes, smarty-pants, I have experience and yes, I know what I’m doing. But it’s just... it’s just never been anything like that before with anyone,” he tells her honestly.

“And it better never be, mister,” she warns and grabs his earlobe. Hannah leans up on her elbow and kisses Kelly’s mouth. He chuckles low in his belly at her threat and squeezes her more closely to him.

“You don’t have anything to worry about on that account, ma’am.” Kelly pulls her mouth down to his, and Hannah feels those unfamiliar stirrings in her groin again.

“I’m going to ruin you for all other women, Kelly Alexander,” she swears fervidly on a wicked, lop-sided grin. She kisses him again, this time of her own accord.

“You already have, woman. You’re a little vixen, Hannah McClane,” he tells her and pushes her head down onto his chest again and clasps his large hand over her straying one. “Just rest a minute and I’ll take you back to your room. We don’t want anyone to see you down here with me.”

Hannah is disappointed that she must leave him but knows that what he’s saying is probably true. Besides, it’s got to be close to his time for guard duty over the farm. A short while later, after they’ve lain quietly in his bed together, Hannah realizes something is still unsaid between them.

“I love you, too, Kelly,” she tells him solemnly. His hand momentarily stops rubbing at her scalp.

“I wondered if you were going to say it back,” he expresses with a smile touching his voice.

“I just wanted you to say it first,” Hannah tells him honestly.

“I should’ve said it a long time ago, I guess. When I first knew,” Kelly explains her.

“And when would that have been, Mr. Alexander?” Hannah jests and snuggles closer into his shoulder.

“About thirty minutes ago,” he teases, and Hannah tugs on his ear again. “No, I suppose it was about ten seconds after I met you.”

“That’s not true, Kelly!” she blurts and laughs aloud. He is just jesting with her.

“It is true. You were standing on the front porch when we came here that first day,” he says.

“No,” Hannah says disbelieving.

“Yes, I’m serious. You were in one of your long white dresses, and you didn’t have any shoes on and there was a pink ribbon at the end of your braid. And you were so kind. You had no qualms or hesitations about letting all of us come into the house, and you jumped right in to help Grams with the kids and everything,” he explains.

“You remember a lot more than I do, even the ribbon?” Hannah is stunned, to say the least.

“Oh yeah. And then you got me with those eyes,” he expands further.

“Yeah, my witchy woman eyes. That’s what Mom used to call them,” Hannah tells him.

“You mean your eyes were always different colored?”

“Yes, silly. It wasn’t from the accident. I hit my head, not my eyes. I was just born this way. Probably another reason Grams thinks I was supposed to be blind, my fate- not that she needs any encouragement with any of her weird superstitions.”
