Kat let out a wordless cry and arched off the bed.

Michael held her in place, and she jerked when he slipped two fingers inside her, pressing deep.

“Oh, God—” Her head dropped back when those magic fingers stroked her, his tongue swirling around her clit. Heat flashed through her, and she tried to push herself closer, wanting to feel him deeper, harder, faster. Damn him, she needed an orgasm. “Michael—don’t stop—”

She shuddered, so close—and he stopped, slipping his fingers out as he lowered her to the bed.

“No—” She wanted to kick him. It was probably smart on his side to tie her legs down. Heart pounding, she fought to breathe, her body on fire, on edge. “Damn you, Vlad—”

“Are you ready for banana, Kat?”

She looked at him, ready to scream yes. The raw desire in those green eyes stopped her. That was for her, because of her.

“Is there another scarf in the closet?” She sounded—desperate.

“Why?”

“I want you to—” No—
this
was her nightmare, bound to a bed, helpless. She couldn’t take that last step. Could she?

Michael cradled her cheek, his erection pressing into her thigh. God, he was so hot, so hard. She never wanted any man like she wanted him. Never trusted any man, not like this.

“Kat.”

She swallowed. “I want you to gag me.”

“Absolutely not.”

“I don’t want to say the safe word by mistake—I don’t want this to stop.”

“Talk to me.”

“I—you make me feel wanted, Michael. I’m not afraid, not like I expected to be. No—don’t.”

He paused, his hand on the silk at her ankle. “This was meant to be play, not a test of your courage.”

“Only you would start lecturing me when I’m so aroused I want to scream.” She closed her eyes, tried to gather her thoughts. It wasn’t easy, with her body throbbing and needy. “You move me. The way you touch me, hold me, the way you kiss me. I never thought I’d meet a man so giving, so ready to give.”

He moved back to her, braced his hands on either side. “I will not—I cannot fulfill that request, love.”

“Then kiss me, Vlad. I don’t want you to stop until we are both dripping with sweat and barely functioning.”

“So demanding, hunter.” He straddled her, his hot, thick tip pressing into her. She couldn’t lift her hips to take him in, couldn’t move at all. Sweet God in heaven, it turned her on. “I will do my best to bring us both to that state.”

He started by rubbing his thumb over her already hard nipple. Kat moaned, lifting her torso as much as possible to get closer, to have him touch more of her. He obliged her by closing his mouth over her other breast. The movement pushed him inside her, just enough to leave her throbbing, aching.

“Michael—” She clenched her hands to keep from yanking at the restraints. “I’m about to say ba—”

He cut her off with his lips, and pressed himself deeper. Already on the edge, she moaned, using the only control she had—her tongue.

She ravaged his mouth, had him groaning in response. He pushed himself all the way in, settled against her, his weight taking him even deeper. Now she could move, a little, lifting her hips enough to stroke him.

With a growl he pulled out and thrust himself in hard and deep.

Yes—

She wanted to scream it, but she was too busy fighting for control of the kiss.

Again, Michael—

As if he heard her, he thrust in to the hilt, so deep she could feel him touch the core of her. And again, driving into her. She gripped the restraints, the kiss turning desperate. He had teased her for so long, led her so close to the edge more than once—she couldn’t breathe, couldn’t think, could only feel.

He broke the kiss, breathing hard, growling with every deep stroke.

“Kat—sweet Jesu—I have to move faster.”

“Oh, God, please.”

She cried out as he drove himself into her, one hand lifting her hips off the bed. The new angle took him even deeper, and he lowered his head, sweat dripping off his hair. All his focus was on her, on them, on this moment.

Pressure gathered, hotter, faster, and she felt herself tightening around him.

“God—” He groaned, and moved faster.

Kat fought to breathe as every muscle in her body went rigid. His deep strokes pushed her higher, and her head dropped back. He pressed his lips to her throat, his sharp teeth scraping her skin. The canines had elongated, like the first time they had sex, when he—

His teeth grazed the healing marks on her throat and heat burst through her—along with that fierce, aching need. Her body responded, arching up, and his teeth broke the skin. With a harsh gasp he jerked away.

“Kat—”

“Don’t stop, Michael.” She needed to acknowledge both sides of this man she was in love with, accept the human and the vampire. “I want you. All of you.”

He laid his forehead against hers. “Kat. I want this, so badly it aches every time I touch you. The vampire in me wants to bond. The human is horrified. I love you,” he whispered. “God protect me, I love you, Kat Riley.”

“I love you back.” He raised his head—and she realized it was the first time she said it out loud. “I love you, Michael—and I want this.”

“You will not be accepted as a hunter again if you do this.”

Her heart skipped, but the pain she expected didn’t come. “Retired hunter.” She wanted to touch him—instead, she met his eyes, told him what was in her heart. “I want to be your partner, Michael. For good.”

Swallowing, he braced himself over her, and lowered his mouth to her throat. She let her head fall back, exposing it for him, her heart pounding with fear, with need.

He pulled out of her, thrust in hard and sank his teeth into her throat.

Pain burned through her, hot, erotic, consuming. She pressed closer, wanting more. He bit deeper and she let out a raw cry.

The power of his need, his love, wound through her, wrapped around her heart. He tasted her, his tongue hot on her skin, his thrusts more desperate. She gasped when his teeth sank all the way in. Heat roared through her, pushed her to the edge, her body throbbing in time with her heart.

He cradled the back of her head, tasted her, his tongue hot and rough on her skin.

“Michael—”

He moaned against her throat. His hand slipped between them, his fingers rubbing over her clit, hard and fast. She cried out, bucking against his hand, her body convulsing around him.

Michael drove into her, his breath hot against her skin, his hand clenching in her hair. He stiffened, and she felt him begin to throb inside her. With a strangled groan he rocked against her, fast and deep. His orgasm triggered her release, and she screamed as uncontrollable spasms slammed through her.

They rode it together, his length buried deep inside her, his mouth on her throat. After a last, shuddering thrust, he slid his teeth out of her and buried his face in her hair, still pulsing inside her.

She fought to breathe, his weight pressing her to the bed. She wouldn’t want him anywhere else. Once her heart stopped pounding like it was trying to escape, she tried out her voice.

“Still alive, Vlad?”

He jerked against her, and after long seconds, lifted his head.

“Kat, I—”

“Look at me.” Those clear green eyes finally met hers. “Tell me you regret what just happened.”

His lips twitched. “I want to, but I have you. For now and always. I never thought to have that, not after—”

“Stop talking and kiss me.”

This time the smile widened those beautiful, talented lips. “I do like that you can’t simply throw me around.”

“I thought you liked it when I threw you around.” Laughter rumbled in his chest. God, she loved the way he felt. “Are you ready to untie me now?”

He leaned in, pressed his lips to the wounds on her throat. It didn’t hurt, which she found odd, and there was no blood sliding down her skin. That aching need gripped her again, and she wanted him to taste her. Again. “I enjoy having you under me like this, holding me inside you, so hot, so tight.”

“Sweet God in heaven.” Just his words had her clenching around him. “Untie me or have your way with me. You’re killing me here.”

“I haven’t heard the word I need.”

She smiled. Spending the rest of her life with him was going to be interesting.

“Banana.”

His hand reached up and pulled the end of the slip knot. He caught her wrist, eased her arm down, kissing the abraded skin. “I am sorry—”

“Hey—that was all me, Vlad. I didn’t realize how much I enjoy running my hands over that impressive muscle, until I couldn’t.”

When he released her other wrist she sighed, shaking out her arms. They would be sore tomorrow, but she had no problem paying that small price for what she got in return.

He had to pull out of her to free her ankles. It left her feeling empty, but she also felt connected to him. Completely aware of him every second. She watched him untie the silk restraints, and he returned, shocking a gasp out of her when he slipped inside, his weight pressing her into the bed, burying him completely.

“Oh, sweet God, Michael.” She bucked under him—and remembered she could touch him now. Her fingers dug into his back, his skin hot and slick. “You
are
going to kill me.”

“I needed to feel you. Just feel myself inside you, like this.”

She let out a shaky breath. “You are a heartbreaker, Michael Blakely.”

His lips brushed over hers, and need spread through her. The same aching need, only stronger now, more urgent.

“Kat—”

He kissed her throat, his tongue running over the spot, and she swallowed, dropping her head back, wanting his teeth to sink into her again, feel the power of that joining again.

“Michael—I need you to—”

“I know, love. It is the bond.” He met her eyes. “I want to taste you again, love you while I do.”

“Can we—do that?” She couldn’t believe she asked that, couldn’t believe how badly she wanted him to say yes.

He studied her, those green eyes intense. “You would want this again?”

“God, yes. Every time you touched my throat I nearly went crazy.”

Instead of answering, he kissed her, his tongue hot as it slid over hers, his hard length throbbing inside her. She arched up, thrilled that she could, excited by the intensity of his need. By the time he freed her lips her heart was pounding, hard and fast.

His mouth found her throat again, and she moaned, desperate to feel him there. Her hands tangled in his hair, holding him in place. He growled, his tongue hard as it rubbed over the sensitive skin. If he kept this up she would climax, without him doing more than kissing that one small spot.

She cried out when his canines pressed into her.

“Michael—yes, please—” The pressure became unbearable, just shy of breaking through. “God—Michael—”

He freed her throat and hauled her up until she sat in his lap, his hard, throbbing length buried to the hilt.

“Kat—sweet Jesu, you take me to the edge of my control.” He framed her face, his breathing as uneven as hers. “I want this, as much as you, but we will have to go slowly for a while. The possibility that I can go too far is real.”

“You mean turn me.”

He raised an eyebrow. “How much do you know about half-bloods?”

“Everything that’s been written down. It’s—it was part of my job to know. Since I’m a sensitive, vamps are my specialty.”

“I do enjoy not having to explain myself at every turn.” He sobered. “Kat—”

“I know what stupid you’re going to spout next, so you can save it. I’m not leaving you to fight them alone.” She fisted her hands in his hair. “This is my fight now, Michael. They hurt my best friend, and they’re going to pay for that.”

“I want you to leave the city, Kat.”

“I am
not
running away. Get that out of your head right now.”

“Kat—”

“This was my
job
, who I was, for ten years. I’m not some innocent bystander who doesn’t understand. I get them, on a level even you don’t know about.” She closed her eyes, her voice the barest whisper when she continued. “My sensitivity was my gift, as part of our team. Ren never would have been attacked like that, without warning, if I had been there.”

“Kat.” He pressed a kiss to each eyelid, so tender she fought the tears lodged in her throat. “Look at me, love.” She did, meeting those clear, intense green eyes. “You would have been overcome, just as he was. These are not freshly made vampires. Some of them have been around for centuries, and trust me, they have encountered more than one sensitive. You were correct, when you said you were my weakness. If they had you, I would do whatever they asked, in exchange for your freedom.”

“And you don’t want to be backed into that position.”

“Not ever.”

“You told me before you would choose death if you were forced to it. What were you going to do if they caught you?”
