Chapter Fourteen

Although I knew Morgan would never use his electric power on me, I felt as if a current ran through my body when he touched me. If they needed a conductor for their powers, what was better than someone who couldn’t be killed? I could take whatever they dished out, just so long as nothing pierced my heart.

I didn’t ask Hud how we should begin or what needed to be done. Through the connection I already shared with him, I simply knew. Since they were all much taller than me, some sort of accommodation would need to be made for what I had in mind. I looked between D and Morgan and saw a flat stone bench.

With my hand against his chest I backed D toward the bench. When the backs of his knees brushed the stone I said, “Lie down.”

He did as I asked and I straddled his waist. I was hungry for the feel of him inside me again. After all, I’d waited twenty years for this. I didn’t intend to cut things so short. I took D’s cock in my hand and as the rain washed down my body, guided him back inside me. I moved against him slowly with my hand still between us, feeling the way he stretched me. He moaned as I ran my fingers around the base of his cock, grinding my clit into my hand. I put my feet against the bench for leverage and began to move back and forth. I stroked him while I moved and when I threw my head back, instead of my wet hair smacking against my skin, it hit Hud’s thigh.

He wrapped my hair around his fist, pulling me back farther as he bent down to kiss me. I finally had to release my grip on D’s cock because of the angle; however, I continued to ride him while the djinn’s tongue plunged into my mouth.

Morgan’s mouth closed over my nipple and I pulled away from Hud with a gasp. The contrast of his hot tongue against my cold skin was thrilling.

“Don’t stop.”

I pulled his dark head close to my breast again and rested back against Hud to watch. As Morgan lapped at my nipple, he brought one hand down to rub my clit.

“Oh, my god.”

“Faster,” Hud whispered in my ear. “Come on him.”

D grabbed my ankles, helping to hold me into place as I moved, faster and faster. Morgan’s hand moved so fast against my clit that I could barely focus on it when I looked down. Just the sight was enough to send me over the edge. Morgan’s hand rubbing my pussy while D’s cock—

“Ah!”

“Yes,” the djinn said, his voice a decadent whisper that carried on the night air. He pulled me back against him and as D moved out of the way, Morgan bent his head to lick my clit. My muscles still throbbed with orgasm even as Morgan moved to his knees and thrust inside of me. I rested back completely against Hud. The djinn hooked his hands underneath my thighs and spread my legs wider than I thought they could go. Morgan pumped in and out of my pussy while he bent his head to my breast once more.

He sucked one nipple hard into his mouth and even though I didn’t think it was possible, I came again, or rather I continued to come.

“You need to take us all,” Hud said. “In order for the spell to be complete.”

I was barely aware of what he was saying anymore. It was more like I felt his words. The next thing I knew I was on my knees, bent over on the bench. Hud took me from behind as D slipped underneath me again. They took turns, switching back and forth with my pussy until I felt Hud enter my ass and I screamed.

With a cock so big, I had expected pain and maybe that’s why I cried out, but there was no pain. Still, I felt like I might split in two when D slipped back inside my pussy. The sensations coursing through me brought involuntary tears to my eyes. It was so close to pain and yet it was the most incredible pleasure.

Morgan moved to my right side and it was then that I felt it. The spell was nearly complete. Morgan’s makeup was still running and as I looked up at him, I wanted to wipe away his black tears. He was so sexy. Watching the look on his face while they took me was almost as pleasurable as the act itself.

“Just touch me,” he said, “and it will be enough.”

I was about to ask what he meant when a white hot power began to burn through my veins. It started at the base of my spine and shot outward. I could feel myself gushing all over D, knew that I was screaming, but had no idea what I said. Morgan held out his wrist, but instead of touching his hand I grabbed his cock.

I knew Hud was coming by the sound of his breathing in my ear and the look on D’s face told me the same. A wave of power washed over us all. The last thing I heard was Morgan’s scream of pleasure.

When I woke up I was in Hud’s bedroom. My hair was still wet, but someone had dried the rest of me and put me underneath the sheets. I rolled over and found the djinn smiling down at me. His nearness was an unexpected pleasure. I snuggled against the front of his body and he held me tight.

“Where are they?” I asked.

“Looking through some of my archives. You wouldn’t believe some of the stuff I’ve got below ground level.”

“Is there
any
limit to what you can do?”

He pulled back enough to look at me. “Why do you ask?”

I smiled. “Because I don’t entirely buy into the whole all-powerful thing.”

He pretended to be hurt. “You still doubt my power?”

“So do you or do you not have any limitations?”

He rose to one elbow. “Yes. Just one. I am limited by what others wish for.”

I thought back to every conversation we’d had so far. He was constantly asking me what I wished for. Even my bath had been a wish. That was how he was able to add onto the room.

“Really? But, what about this palace. It does move around, doesn’t it? Otherwise people would find it.”

“Yes.”

Now I was really curious. “How does someone limited by the wishes of others end up in a place like this?”

Hud took a deep breath and sat up, hanging his long legs over the side of the bed. I wrapped my arms around him, resting my face against his back.

“You don’t have to answer that if you don’t want to.”

It hurt me to know that if I wished for his answer, he would have to tell me.

“I do not have to grant all requests,” he said. He was reading my mind again. “I’m not normal, even for a djinn. All of the djinn who ever existed are still around, somewhere. They have been bound, many for longer than I can recall. Even if they were not bound, they would not be free.”

“Are you the last?”

“I am the
only
free djinn.”

He rose from the bed and headed toward a chest on the opposite side of the room. Watching him move was a thing of beauty. With the smallest gesture the muscles of his long legs flexed. Even from this distance the firelight reflected off his body, highlighting the perfection of his form. I didn’t think I’d ever tire of looking at him.

“I’d like to show you something,” he said as he knelt to open the chest.

I moved to stand beside him and saw the chest was full of jewels and treasure the likes of which I’d never seen. He pulled out a necklace with an enormous red jewel. Hud turned slightly, trailing the long chain over his fingers.

“It’s beautiful.”

“Have you ever had a favorite piece of jewelry?” he asked.

“Sure.”

He handed me the necklace as he asked, “Could you imagine spending a thousand years inside it?”

“You were imprisoned inside this gem?” Suddenly the room felt smaller. “I’m claustrophobic,” I confessed. “I couldn’t begin to imagine how something like that is even possible.”

Hud shrugged and stretched his arms. “Took me a hundred years to get the kink out of my neck.”

I laughed, but the thought of what he’d gone through still frightened me. Hud placed the necklace back in the chest, but remained on his knees.

“How were you freed?”

“My master wished for it. After years of confining me, a sorcerer finally set me free. Though I’m still bound by the laws of my kind, he wished for my freedom in some areas, and for me to be able to live wherever I desired. You see, even had he wished it, he could not have done away with the laws that govern the djinn.”

Even though he explained things simply, they still sounded complicated to me.

“What do you mean when you say you are bound by the laws of your kind?”

“Only being able to use my power when someone else wishes.”

I put my hand on his shoulder, brushing back strands of his amazing hair.

“Having infinite power, but having to wait on someone’s whim to use it? That sounds frustrating.”

He sighed. “It can be. If he had not given me the power to choose which wishes to grant, I’d have been screwed.”

Hud’s laughter flowed over me, warm and soothing. He rose and moved to a cushion in front of the fire, stretching out his long lithe body.

“He was the only one to have spoken my name, before I met you.”

I stretched out beside him, letting the warmth of the fire soak into my skin. Since drinking his blood, I wasn’t as cold as usual. I wondered how long that would last. I rolled toward Hud, pressing the front of my body to his. He wrapped his arms around me as I tucked my arms up against my chest, my hands underneath my chin. I wanted to be as close to him as possible, to absorb him into my very soul.

“I’ve been so lonely,” he whispered.

“I know. Me too.”

*****

Sometime later we were out on his balcony looking up at the stars.

“Ahihud? You said that in three days my life would change, but it’s
already
changed.”

His smile looked sad. “Today is the third day.”

I felt my heart drop. “It can’t be! It’s only been one night and—”

“Time does not pass the same when you are with me. I’m sorry, Vivian, but this
is
your third day.”

Disappointment is a bitter pill, and I did my best to swallow it.

“How long until the ship makes port?”

“A few hours.”

“Shit.”

I leaned against the railing, trying to gain control over my emotions. Hud’s gift had given me the clarity he had promised. And knowing that I belonged with him was one of the things made perfectly clear.

“There’s so much more I want to ask you. So many things to say.”

He laughed softly and when he placed a hand on my shoulder, my tension melted away.

“This is not goodbye, Vivian. We are all bound by magic. If you want me, then I am yours. All you ever have to do is ask.”

“What if I’m on another planet?”

“Doesn’t matter.”

I had one burning question that I could no longer resist asking. “How did you get to be in control here, on Tarnak?”

He smiled. “Because the last time he was here, Morgan wished for it in my presence. Of course, he didn’t
know
he was in the presence of a djinn. There were lots of people in the crowded bar where he hatched his plan.”

“What plan?”

“To send the last leader poisonous flowers. While he ranted to Ash about how much he hated the current leadership, he wished for something different.”

“And where were you?”

“In the booth behind him, enjoying a good smoke.”

I couldn’t stop myself from laughing. “So, you are in control of a planet because of Morgan’s drunken rant that you overheard while smoking some Tarnakian herb?” I laughed harder.

“I told you, I’m a cosmic meddler.”

“That description sounds more and more accurate.”

“Would you like to spend some more time with all of us before your ship is ready?”

“Yes, but I have one more question.”

“Ask.”

“Without telling me more than I need to know, or something I couldn’t handle. What is D?”

“You’ve already come close to this answer on your own.” He sighed, looking unsure of whether or not he should say more. “D is the weapon that almost destroyed mankind.”

I stared unblinking at Hud’s sparkling face, waiting for him to say more. My mouth moved, but no words came out.

“He’s
what
?” I finally managed.

“What you did for him was a beautiful thing. D wasn’t designed to feel, otherwise he would take pity on those he was meant to destroy.”

It made sense. Everything he said made perfect sense. After the shock wore off a little, I almost asked how he had nearly destroyed mankind, but decided I might be better off not knowing.

Hud’s voice was soft and there was compassion in his eyes when he spoke next. “Do you wish you didn’t know?”

I gave serious consideration to his question before I answered. “No. I wanted to know. I’ll keep it to myself.”

Hud held me close to his side and squeezed me gently. “Even D does not know. The powers he possesses are incredible. Now that he can feel, it would hurt him to know what his purpose was.”

“Was?”

“You’ve changed all that. He is no longer going to wipe out the human race now that he loves you.”
