QUESTIONS FOR THE AUTHOR

  1. How did you come up with the plot?
The idea came to me in a dream. At first it was just Nick driving me crazy and then Kayla began to show up on the warpath. I wasn’t sure what she was so upset about at first, but she seemed to always be searching for someone, and then she finally revealed she was searching for her sister’s killer.
  1. If The Devil´s Eyes were to be made as a film, which actors do you see playing your characters?
Nick and Kayla would be the hardest to cast because I am so particular about who would play them. In fact, I am not sure anyone would be perfect enough. This is a hard question to answer because it would be like who would you replace your kids with, no one seems perfect enough. I am sure I would be happy with whoever once it came together, but it would be hard to match the characters in my head with someone real.
  1. Who is your favorite character?
Nick of course, although all the rest come in a close second.
  1. Was the Devil´s Eyes easy to write?
Yes, the story is a hundred percent me, and I love every part of it. I didn’t hold back out of fear that someone might not like the direction or the flow. I don’t care for sweet happy endings, or perfect characters. I much prefer the perfectly flawed characters with and edge.
  1. What are your plans regarding the series/characters? Will we get to read more about Nick and Kayla?
The plans for this series change constantly. Originally there was only going to be two books at most and then it turned into three and then four and then five. Now with the release of the sixth, I am really not sure where it will end at this point. I would like to have a series dedicated to Nicky, I think he has a lot of his father in him and will be a fascinating character when he gets older.
  1. Was it your intention to write about a dark/suspense romance and turn it into paranormal?
Yes, Nick always had a special power about him, I just didn’t dive right into it at first. The focus was meant to be on his and Kayla’s relationship and how they overcame their pasts. Once I took the series further I knew I had to explore Nick and his family tree more.
  1. What was your favorite part in The Devil´s Eyes series?
In Revenge, the moment Nick walks into the courtroom and saves Kayla the only way Nick would do, with extraordinary power and control.
  1. What was the most exciting part of the series to write
    ?
In Remedy, the final battle scene when Nick remembers and has to go toe to toe with Savage. That entire book was exciting and so much fun to write.
  1. What was the hardest scene for you to write, either in each book or the series as a whole?
Poison, when Ryan lost Sam and when Nick thought he lost Kayla and Brayden. I cried for days. I actually was so depressed writing that book, it was very hard to finish. I was grateful to be able to go right into Remedy and relieve the stress of Poison.
  1. Let´s say one of your male characters were real- Which one would appeal to you the most?
Elijah, I love the cocky smartass with a good heart.
  1. Have you written a book that you love but haven´t published yet?
I have a bunch of books I have not gotten to, but two in particular I really am determined to get published as soon as I can get to them, Hero and Little Town of Happy. Titles obviously are subject to change but for right now once is a take on my life searching for the perfect man and hero for myself. It’s probably more of a comedy actually than suspense. Little Town of Happy is a dark, twisted, suspenseful murder mystery I have had in my head for a while.
  1. Did you always want to write?
Yes, I have always enjoyed creating stories, but with my ADD I have a hard time sitting still and concentrating on the task at hand. I finally figured out, that when the sun goes down, there is less distractions. When there is no light shining on anywhere other than the task at hand, so I typically write from nine o’clock at night until four in the morning.
  1. When you were younger: Did you ever think you´d become an author one day?
No, I didn’t think I would ever have the guts to share my stories with anyone. I was supposed to be a successful designer and I was, but times changed and I needed to find an outlet for my creative frustrations. The first place I retreated to was in my own head with made up characters. Thankfully a good friend read Finding Ava (which was my first novel to write to completion) and encouraged me to pursue writing more.
  1. Has writing affected your personal life?
Yes, I don’t go out as much as I probably should. It takes up a lot of your life, however, I sometimes prefer it to dating because you have more control over the outcome.
  1. What genre´s do you prefer to read?
Suspense, Paranormal and any other sick and twisted story. I typically root for the bad guys so it’s hard to please me with sweet loving stories. I am pretty sure I was a criminal of some kind in a past life.
  1. What inspires you to write?
Different things, and anything. Sometimes it’s a conversation I overhear, or it’s a perception I have of a situation and sometimes it’s simply a song.
  1. Do you listen to music while you write?
Music always helps me focus, and get the story in order. I have a particular playlist for each book. I like to go for a run with my headphones on and lose myself within the music and let the story write itself.
  1. Do you have a particular quirk (like Jo March wearing certain clothes) while writing?
The only thing that helps is if it is dark outside, and late at night. I can’t concentrate during the day, but at night I can write nonstop until the sun comes up. I don’t really have any other quirks other than that. I tend to wear whatever is comfortable and usually look a hot mess while writing.
  1. When you write a story, can you just quit writing or do your characters constantly haunt you?
They haunt me until their story is completed. Sometimes they come back when a song comes on that reminds me of one of them. Even when I think I am done with them, they come back and make me crazy.
  1. What do you do when you´re not writing?
I also like to design buildings, and am in love with interior design and architecture. I have been designing and working for architecture firms since I was nineteen. I also love to run and take my dog out, I am constantly on the go. My other obsession is basketball. I love sports and can’t get enough of it, especially if my teams are doing well. I have girly girl tendencies, but sometimes I can be such a tomboy. I think that’s why I like writing from both male and female points of view.
