Touch Me (8 page)

Exhaling a slow breath, Tia turned and walked back to the car.

Alex popped the passenger door open for her, watching her intently. “You okay?” he asked as she slid into the seat.

“Better than okay.” She felt strong. She felt
free
. And now that any contact with David was over, she had a shiny new life ahead of her to share with Alex. Few people got a second chance in life, and she intended to make the most of hers. Reaching for his strong hand, she smiled at the way he twined his fingers through hers. “Let’s go home.”

Epilogue

Three months later

Tia set her teacup down on the table when she saw the taxi pull into the driveway, fighting back the burst of excitement in her chest. He couldn’t be home already. He wasn’t due in until morning.

The vehicle’s back door opened. She caught a glimpse of desert camo pants. Heart pounding, she jumped up and ran to the front door, threw it open.

Alex grabbed his bags from the trunk and shut it. When he saw her, his face broke into a wide grin. “Hey, beautiful.”

Fighting the sting of tears, she ran outside in her bare feet to leap into his arms. He laughed as he caught her, held her tight against his powerful body.

“God, I missed you,” she breathed against his throat. Every muscle and nerve ending quivered with delight at the feel of his arms around her, being able to finally hold him again. They’d talked almost every day, either by e-mail or phone, but being apart for so long had been hard on both of them.

He tightened his arms. “Missed you too. Like crazy.”

“If I’d known you were coming home tonight, I could’ve picked you up. Why didn’t you call me?”

“Wanted to surprise you.”

“You did.” She squeezed him harder and closed her eyes. “I can’t believe you’re really here.”

He nuzzled the side of her neck, lighting up her whole body with tingles. “Well, I am. And I plan on proving it to you the second we get through the door.” His deep, sexy murmur made her shiver with longing, and when she looked into his eyes the loving heat in them stole her breath.

Releasing him, she grabbed one of his bags and brought it inside. The moment she shut the front door behind them he dropped his other bags, picked her up and pinned her flat against the door. She moaned and wrapped her legs around his waist, held his head between her hands to meet his kiss. His mouth was hungry, forceful, exactly what she needed. Alex was home at last, and hopefully his Reserve unit wouldn’t be called up again. As of right now, they had their whole lives ahead of them.

His strong hands gripped her hips, squeezed as he rubbed his swollen cock against her in slow circles. “Mmmm,” she moaned, softening from the inside out.

She was already lost in the taste and feel of him, desperate to have him inside her, when her phone rang. Alex tensed, but she kept kissing him. No need to worry about her ex calling now. He’d obeyed the restraining order and hadn’t bothered her since she’d confronted him.

The phone shrilled again. Probably her brother checking to see when Alex was coming home. She was glad he was so ecstatic over their relationship—both their families were—but right now she wasn’t interested in talking to him or anyone else. All she wanted was Alex.

“Ignore it,” she gasped against his lips, rubbing her mound against the rock-hard erection pressing against the front of his fatigues. “I’m temporarily unavailable.”

Alex lifted his head and quirked an eyebrow in mock insult. “Temporarily? Try all night.” His eyes glowed with the promise of the bone-melting pleasure to come. “And maybe all day tomorrow too.”

Laughing against his mouth, Tia held on tight and kissed him as he carried her up the stairs to their bedroom.
