“About what?” she asked warily. She really didn’t need one of their possessive tantrums right now.

“You actually thought Sam or I would punish you because you feel you’re not good enough at your job?”

“Melanie called you.” And just like that, she burst into tears, the stress of the afternoon leaving her vulnerable.

“Dammit,” Mac grumbled. Taking her hand, he pulled her onto his lap as he sat on the plush couch they had bought together. “Want to talk about it?”

“There’s nothing to say. He had major head injuries.”

“And with head injuries, you either get death or severe brain damage. Even I know that. I’ve seen my share of head injuries caused by cars, bullets, and various blunt instruments. They’re not pretty, and neither are the end results. How old was he?”

“Sixteen,” she answered, sniffing. “Young and wild and with his whole life ahead of him.”

“And what made you think there was something you could’ve done to save him, other than what you did?”

“I don’t know. I replayed all our efforts and couldn’t find anything that anyone could’ve done that would have saved him. It still leaves me wondering if I’m good enough, smart enough, to be assisting on such cases.”

“And you really think you deserve to be punished because you think you’re not good enough at your job?” he asked incredulously. “How asinine is that? If you’re not good enough, quit.”

Ella pulled away from him angrily. “How can you say that to me? You know how much I love my job. I make a difference in a lot of cases. You know I do.”

Mac eyed her steadily letting her words sink in before replying, “Yes, I know you do, and so do you.”

Ella scrubbed the tears from her cheeks and grinned sheepishly. “I guess you think I’m an idiot.”

“Yes, in this case, I do. Luckily, I’m not the one who gets turned on by your tears, which will make dealing with you easier. Now, I want you to go into our room, pull down your pants and wait for me bent over your bench.”

“I thought you weren’t going to punish me.”

“I’m not going to punish you because you think you’re not a good nurse; I am going to punish you for thinking either Sam or I would belittle you and what you do in that way. And for having sex with Melanie without our permission or without us there. You know the rules and agreed to them, Ella.” he admonished.

“I didn’t go there to fool around,” she defended herself lamely. “It just happened.”

Mac stood and turned her towards their bedroom down the hall. “Quit arguing. I’m going to get the crop. Be ready for me.”

Ella cringed. “The crop? Why the crop?” One of the first things they did after Ella agreed to move in with them was go shopping for some new toys, dildos, and spanking implements, among them a crop. While she craved all the leather instruments, she feared the crop and the pain she knew it would cause and let them know she didn’t want to experience it. They had both agreed only to use it if she deserved to feel its sting as a punishment for a severe infarction.

“You know why. We’ve been lenient with you thus far, but you’ve overstepped your boundaries this time. Now, do as I say, or I’ll make it ten strokes instead of five.”

Ella knew he meant it and quickly hurried to their bedroom. The spanking bench sat in the corner next to their specially built wide bed. The three of them slept comfortably together every night, and Ella couldn’t imagine sleeping without them on either side of her again. Fearful of further retribution, she lowered her scrubs and panties to mid thigh and knelt on the padded bench, resting her torso over the top with her head hanging down. Normally, she’d be so turned on by being bare assed and vulnerable, she’d be dripping down her thighs. However, this time, she was too fearful of the dreaded crop to get turned on.

Mac eyed her pale globes longingly. Her ass never failed to turn him on, and he wished he was here to butt fuck her instead of stripe those pale cheeks. But she had to learn to curb these impulses, especially when she’s thinking they would actually use their spanking fetish against her in such a way. An act like that could drive a wedge into their relationship and cause irreparable harm.

“Just five, Ella,” he reassured her as he moved beside her.

Ella heard the whoosh right before the crop landed. She couldn’t help crying out as the crop left a fiery sting across her buttocks. “Mac, that hurts!” she wailed, not liking the crop at all. The pain was wholly different from any of the other tools they used on her, the sting quick and intense. She gripped the legs of the bench tightly to refrain from reaching behind her in an attempt to deflect the next blow.

“There would be no point in this if it didn’t. Now hush and let’s finish this.” Mac tempered his blows, not allowing the crop to hit her too hard. He knew it could easily break her skin, and he would never betray her trust that way. He had experience in using the crop to its best advantage, causing stinging pain without cutting the skin. His next strike landed below the first, the third below that. Ella whimpered but, otherwise, accepted her punishment. The fourth landed on the under curve of those beautifully rounded cheeks and the fifth across the top of her thighs. Five bright red thin stripes covered her ass and did nothing to ease his desire to spread her cheeks and imbed his cock deep in her rectum. Because this was punishment only, however, he had to forego that pleasure for now.

“What the hell did she do?” Sam asked from the doorway, eyeing her abused buttocks longingly.

“Sam!” Ella made to rise and rush to him, longing to feel the comfort of his embrace. She really hated that crop!

“Stay in position, Ella. I’ll explain your actions to Sam.”

The men left the room, and she could hear them talking quietly. Wiping her face, she sniffled and wished one of them would let her up. She would disobey if she didn’t fear a reprisal so much. Sam returned without Mac and went into their bathroom before coming over and kneeling behind her.

“I’m disappointed in you, Ella,” he said as he rubbed a cool gel on her stripes. They were already beginning to fade. Mac definitely knew what he was doing.

“I’m sorry, Sam. I was foolish. Can I get up now?” she asked, feeling contrite.

“Just a minute. Ella, don’t you know how much we love you? How could you think we’d raise our hand to you for such a reason?”

Ella slowly turned around, her eyes damp and wide, her mouth open in shock. “You love me?” she squeaked incredulously.

Sam’s brows drew together in a frown. “Of course. Didn’t you know that?”

“How was I supposed to know that. Neither of you ever said a word about love.”

“Of course we have,” Mac said as he came back in. Both men grabbed her hands and raised her to her feet.

Ella pulled up her pants, blushing. “No, you haven’t. Trust me, I would’ve remembered. I’ve been in love with both of you for weeks, but I didn’t know you felt the same way.”

“You’re not going to cry again, are you?” Mac demanded irritably. “You know how your tears turn Sam on.”

Ella laughed while a few tears escaped. Throwing her arms around them, she said, “Everything makes you guys horny. If you really love me, you’d fuck me now.”

“No,” they replied simultaneously.

“No fucking when you’ve been punished,” Sam reiterated as they walked together into the living room. “But we can order pizza, cuddle on the couch, and tell you again how much we love you since we seem to have been remiss in that department.”

“Okay,” she happily agreed. Hearing her boys tell her they loved her was second best to having them fuck her.

Ella pulled into the parking lot of her old apartment complex early the next morning. She still had to remove a few boxes of her things and clean the apartment before she turned in her key, and she was anxious to get it done. It was her day off, and she was going to meet Mac, Sam, and Melanie for lunch at the same Italian bistro they had taken her to before and where they were now well known and greeted warmly.

Grabbing her small vacuum and a bag of cleaning supplies, she let herself inside, closing the door behind her. She had left a radio here and turned it up so she could hear it over the vacuum. The apartment was small and didn’t take her long to vacuum. She tackled the bathroom next and had just started on the kitchen when the sound of her front door slamming startled her. Turning down the radio that was sitting on the counter, she padded to the living area, calling, “Anyone here?”

“Just me, Ella.”

Ella jumped, startled, when Mandy came up behind her. “Mandy, you scared me. What are you doing here?” she asked. “Is Mel with you?”

“Melanie, always Melanie with you. Why can’t you just fuck your boy toys and leave her alone?” Mandy moved slowly, threateningly towards her.

Ella moved back, wary of the maniacal look in Mandy’s eyes and her threatening posture. Swallowing dryly, she tried to placate her. “You know we’re just friends. I’ve known Melanie for over twelve years, Mandy. You can’t expect us to quit being friends because of your irrational jealousy.”

“I saw you!” she yelled back. “At her place yesterday. Did you know there’s a perfect place to hide behind some hedges that gives me a great view into her apartment, especially with a pair of binoculars?”

Ella felt sick at the thought that Mandy had been spying on them for God knows how long, cheapening what she and Mel shared. Without thinking, she blurted, “That’s sick, Mandy, you’re sick. Melanie’s better off without you.” Ella stopped backing away when she bumped into the counter that separated the living area from the kitchen. Her eyes widened in shock as Mandy pulled a small handgun from her purse and aimed it at her.

“No,” she replied softly, “she’s better off without you.”

With little time to think, Ella grabbed the portable radio and flung it at Mandy.

“Hey, Miss! You can’t just go back there!” the front desk sergeant called out after Melanie had asked for directions to the homicide detectives division.

“Please, I have to find Mac and Sam. It’s an emergency!” she exclaimed as he stopped her from barreling into the squad room.

“Come with me. We’ll go talk to them together.”

Melanie saw them as soon as they entered the squad room. Waving, heedless of the commotion she was causing, she called out, “Mac! Sam! I need to talk to you.”

“It’s all right, Sergeant. She’s a friend,” Mac said, dismissing the young cop and leading Melanie back to where Sam was waiting.

“Melanie, what’s wrong?” Sam asked, pulling a chair out for her.

“I can’t find Ella, and she’s not answering her phone. Please, do you know where she is? I think Mandy’s going to hurt her.”

“Whoa, sweetheart. Slow down and start at the beginning. What happened that makes you think that?” Mac asked.

“I broke up with Mandy last night. She got upset, tried to blame our breakup on Ella. She saw Ella at my apartment yesterday and went crazy. I tried to tell her Ella had nothing to do with us or our problems, but she wouldn’t listen, and she stormed out. I went over to her place this morning, to try to talk to her again, but she wasn’t there. I have a key and I let myself in. I was looking for a paper and pencil to leave her a note when I found this hidden in a drawer in the kitchen.”

Melanie handed them a clear bag containing a white powdered substance. “And then I remembered something.”

“What?” Sam asked urgently, afraid he already knew where this was leading.

“The night I was assaulted, Mandy made my tea for me before she left. It was her, wasn’t it?” she choked out. “She drugged me and left me in that park, didn’t she?”

“Fuck,” Mac muttered. “We knew there was something off about your case, but we couldn’t pinpoint it.”

Both men were up and slipping on their jackets. “Melanie, stay here. Do not leave until we get back. Clear?”

Sam’s tone brooked no argument, leaving her little choice but to agree. “Do you know where Ella is?”

“She went to her old apartment. We’ll start there.” Mac tossed the plastic bag to a fellow detective. “Get that to the lab ASAP, will ya, Bruce? And keep an eye on her until we get back.”

Racing out to Sam’s truck, they hit their siren and sped towards Ella’s apartment, both men praying they found her still there unharmed.

“Front door’s open,” Mac observed as Sam cut the engine and climbed out, both men drawing their weapons.

“Her car’s still here.” Sam and Mac moved quickly when they heard a yell and crash coming from Ella’s apartment. Bursting through the door, guns leveled, they pulled up short when they saw Ella sitting on Mandy’s back, pinning her arms behind her. Laying in a corner was a gun that Sam quickly retrieved.

Ella glared at the two of them, shaking her disheveled hair out of her face. “I’m getting damn tired of crazy bitches trying to get the jump on me.”

Mac pulled out a pair of cuffs, grinning. “You were paying attention to your lessons,” he complimented her proudly before relieving her of her burden.

“It’s your fault!” Mandy screeched, struggling against Mac’s hold. “If it hadn’t been for you, she would have loved me!”

“Mel did love you, Mandy,” Ella answered coldly. “You drove her away, and now my boys are going to put you away for a long time. Right?”

“Melanie brought us proof that Mandy’s the one who drugged and kidnapped her. She’s going away for a long time,” Sam said as he put an arm around Ella more to steady himself than her.

Ella leaned her head against him, shock starting to set in. “She followed me here and I never saw her. Told you I’d never make a cop.”

“You don’t need to, baby. You’ve got us.” Mac kissed her then led Mandy screaming and kicking outside to call for a black and white to pick her up.

“Is Melanie okay?” Ella asked Sam as he helped her collect her things.

“She will be with you as her friend. We’ll be there for her also. Let’s go home, Blondie.”

They left her car to pick up later. They had a friend to collect and a lunch date to keep.
