“That is the one thing I am counting on,” she smiled, preceding him through the door as he opened it.

Creighton lifted her in his arms as soon as the door closed and carried her into the dining room, rather than up the stairs to their bedroom. Sandra gasped when she saw his intention glowing in his eyes then smiled as he sat her on the edge of his grandmother’s antique table.

“You wouldn’t dare,” she scolded weakly.

“I not only would but will,” he assured her.

“What about your family? You know how they like to just walk in without warning. If they catch us…”

“Then they will learn to knock next time,” he said, stripping his shirt off his muscular torso.

“Creighton, we can’t…”

“Yes we can,” he assured her, pulling her tee-shirt off over her head. “My parents are going to see Les Miserable with Irena, and Kristen and Derek are taking the kids to London with Sabrina where they are going to have supper and see a movie.”

“I wonder how they all managed to be gone at the same time?” she asked with a knowing grin.

“It was a miracle. Everyone received offers they couldn’t refuse provided they were used this one and only night. That means, we’re stuck here, together, with nobody to disturb us.”

“What a dreadful thought,” she smiled, gasping in alarm when he pulled her off the table in one quick movement, to stand in front of him
, her hands on his strong shoulders. Sandra stood perfectly still as he unfastened her jeans and slowly lowered them across her hips and down her slender legs. He glanced up as he knelt down to remove her boots, then pulled her pants off, tossing them carelessly to the floor.

“I’m not sure, but I think I’m rather famished,” he teased her straightening up to stand in front of her. “Since our supper won’t be finished for another thirty minutes, I suppose I’ll have to find something to snack on to keep from waning away.”

“What precisely did you have in mind?” Creighton smiled as he lifted her around the waist to sit back on the edge of the table before walking to the nearby buffet portion of the china hutch. He retrieved a tray she hadn’t seen when he brought her in here, and returned to her side. On the silver platter was a cloth towel covering two pointed top objects and she found herself biting her lower lip to keep from giggling.

“I heard once that American’s believe life is short
and you should eat dessert first, therefore…” he removed the towel to reveal the bottle of chocolate sauce and can of whipped cream.

Peinture de carrosserie,”
he smiled. “Chocolate and whipped cream; the most delectable of all, not to mention my favorite.”

“What about me?” she asked. “Don’t I get dessert too? After all, I am an American.”

“So you are,” he smiled, setting the tray on the table beside her and laying her backward, bending her knees so her feet were braced on the edge of the table, her legs spreading apart so he could admire the initials he loved to look at.

“I believe I can share, though I am a hard working farm boy. I need my strength.”

“But I am eating for two.”

“Very true,” he smiled
, his hands trailing up the inside of her legs. “So I will have to make certain one appetite is quenched before fulfilling another.” Sandra’s smile widened as he took the brown bottle and opened it; his smile turned dark and seductive as he popped the top. The drops fell across her lower abdomen making her gasp; it was warm, nearly hot and stung just a bit but in a delightful, wicked way.

“What a delightful display,” he whispered, his fingers caressing the chocolate as he traced the initials, spreading the warm liquid over her. Sandra closed her eyes and sighed; it was such a strange sensation, hot and warm, moist and dry and she could barely withstand it as he leaned across her. His tongue took up the action as he reached upward and pressed a chocolate
covered finger to her lips, tracing them gently until they were covered with a thin layer of sauce.

Sandra kept her eyes closed, her tongue licking the chocolate off her mouth and sucking his finger inside, circling the sweet flavored tip with the end of her tongue. Creighton moaned and she heard the lid flip open again. Warm drops trailed up her abdomen, filling her navel before circling around her hard nipples. The sound of a chair scrapping across the floor echoed in the quiet room and she suddenly gasped as he hitched his hands beneath her knees and tugged her forward. Her feet braced on the arms of the wooden chair while he began to
smooth the chocolate sauce across her labia.

The torturous, delicious acts
continued until she was sticky and covered with a residue to remind her of their pre-supper treat. By the time the timer went off on the stove, they were laying together on the table’s surface, panting and gasping for air. It never ceased to amaze her own easily he made her come or how willingly she was to accept his dark, deviant side.

Life with this man was always unexpected and thrilling.

Thursday arrived sooner than either of them anticipated. At Creighton’s request, Bess and her husband brought the leather clad table out with them and it was now set up in the corner of their bedroom. He insisted that he did not want it at the flat if Sabrina decided to move in, but she knew it was just his way of having it handy for when he wanted to play.

Irena and Peter spent the better part of the
past two days together as he helped her with her chores around the farm. He had stayed over at Derek and Kristen’s so he could
help
, but everyone knew it was an excuse to spend more time with the pretty brunette. Once the milking was finished and the eggs gathered, they strolled along the country roads, hand-in-hand as the adults took care of the more serious work. Bess insisted that she loved the country enough that she would be willing to come out a few times a week to take care of the new house, and even her husband, Rupert, said he would be willing to help Creighton around the farm. They were both from farming families’, so returning to the country was more than a trip to do a job; it was a way of connecting to their youths.

After many long hours of
designing and discussing, they had come up with a plan to build a second garage for the farm equipment, again with a flat above. The offer was extended to Bess and Rupert to move in and they jumped at the offer. Having them around would be an addition to the extended family and would allow Sandra to continue working on her writing. Irena was thrilled as well, it meant she would see Peter more often and would be going to school with him. Creighton, however, was worried and threatened to purchase her a chastity belt as soon as he could locate one.

Cathy had called
the night before and told them she would be coming with their grandparents for a visit since she still had another week before starting her new job. Sandra felt like there was nothing in the world that could alter her happiness. Life was beginning to turn into a normal routine that the young couple was enjoying.

They sat silently
in the living room later that morning, each involved in their own activities with Sandra reading the paper and Creighton checking his emails on his phone. A bowl of fresh, sweet strawberries the Parkers brought them earlier that morning sat on the coffee table and the grandfather clock Derek and Kristen gave them as a house warming gift ticked through the quiet house, but was unnoticed with the conversations being played out in their minds.

The doorbell rang
with its usual warm double chime that caused Creighton to actually jump and glance across to Sandra who smiled. He narrowed his eyes to her in an amused warning, but said nothing as he got up and went to answer the door. She heard the deep voices of her husband and Clark as they stepped to the porch, but they were too muffled to understand the words. She stood and walked to the door in time to overhear Clark tell her husband that it was obviously a malicious act of vandalism.

“What’s going on?” she asked, watching the concern dance in Creighton’s dark eyes.

“Nothing for you to worry about,” he began but stopped when he saw the irritated look in her eyes. He drew a deep breath and ran a large hand through his hair.

“Mum and dad had their coral opened in the middle of the night and their animals got lose,” he said. It all sounded innocent enough, but she knew the sound of his tone and drew a deep breath, waiting for him to finish.

“Some of their chickens were killed and there were threats written on the walls of the barn.”

“What kind of threats?” she frowned.

Leave things be
,
go away before it’s too late
,
it doesn’t involve you
. There was one message that’s confusing; it said
pay up or else.

“What does that mean?”

“I have no idea. I haven’t received any demands for money, no threats besides this and no clue that anything is a miss.”

“The bodies?” she said softly. “
Maybe that’s what all of this is about. Maybe someone wants money for information or maybe they are just trying to scare off the investigation.” Sandra’s eyes widened as she looked up at her husband. “The killer wasn’t Gerrald Bachmeier it couldn’t have been.”

“It doesn’t look that way,” Creighton said, clenching his jaw.
“If I didn’t already know Konrad Bachmeier was dead, I’d think it was him doing all this; it’s just the type of sneaky act he used to pull.”

“What do you mean?” she asked.

“When he was living here, before his uncle sent him back to Germany, he would sneak into the farms at night and dig up the vegetables, play pranks and let the chickens or sheep loose. Once he even drove off the Parker’s family donkey. When they found it, it had fallen into a ditch and broke its leg; they had to put it down.”

“How do you know it was him?” she asked again.

“He was seen letting a fox loose in the chicken house of the Williams’ and he would brag to Miriam about it. He was a sick bugger.”

“Well, like you said, it can’t be him; he’s dead. But maybe it’s Stone, or Darby, whatever his name is.”

“It’s a very strong possibility,” Creighton said with a deep scowl.

“So what are you going to do?”
Sandra asked, watching her husband’s expression darken.

“Get the cameras set up,” he said turning back to Clark. “I want twenty-four seven security until we get this settled.”

“IT will be out here this afternoon.” Clark turned and left the porch, heading to the loft above the garage.

“Are your parents alright?” Sandra asked as Creighton shut the door.

“They’re a bit shaken, but unharmed. I’m going to send Irena to stay at my mum’s sister’s for a few weeks, at least until we can get things settled here. Andrew is on his way out to file a report; there are a few choice things I have to say to him.” He turned and looked at her, his eyes filled with fear and emotion. “It is probably just some local blokes having a bit of sport.”

“What are you
really thinking?” she asked as they walked back into the living room where they sat down on the sofa again.

“I don’t know; maybe it’s like you said, maybe Bachmeier wasn’t involved, or maybe he had an accomplice.
Maybe Stone is still hanging around. There are just too many variables right now and nothing to point a finger at.” Creighton drew a deep sigh and ran his hand through his hair.

“If I had a brain, I would have sent you back to Kansas. At least you would have been safe there.” Sandra snorted a half laugh and leaned into him, caressing his cheek with the tips of her fingers.

“You do remember where I lived, right?” she asked him. “Kansas is part of Tornado Alley. Trust me, a few displaced animals and a couple of threats are nothing compared to what I grew up with. I know things are crazy right now, but it will get better. The worst thing I could have done was leave you.” Creighton smiled, or attempted to, but he knew it was because of his past that she was in harm’s way now.

“Listen to me,” she continued. “You told me once,
if I left you, I took everything you have of worth, you said I would take your heart and your soul. Do still feel the same way?”

“More today than the day I told you,” he said, the twinkle in his dark eyes told her the love was still there, only hidden behind a wall of fear.

“You’ve always told me to trust you, well I still do. I know things will work out and we can get on with our lives. Right now my love, you have to trust me, too. I will never leave you and will never back down to any creepy little jerk who thinks he deserves something for his crimes.”

Creighton sighed and pulled her into his warm embrace, kissing her lips passionately as though his life depended on it. His tongue easily slipped out and traced the outline of her lower lip before sliding between her teeth. He teased and tasted, battling against the eagerness of her own tongue, sweet from the strawberries she had been eating. Sandra moaned into him, surrendering her heart and absorbing his frustration, leaving both of them panting and anxious for more.

“I should put you on the
Tornado
and send you into the ocean where you would be safe.
At least I’d know you were away from here.” Sandra laughed, her arms wrapping around his neck as she pulled him down across her, lying against the wavy floral design of the sofa.
