FIVE
MINUTES
. Brad-from-the-internet had kept her waiting thirty-five minutes. She sipped the martini in front of her and exhaled.

“Can I get you another drink?” The bartender smiled at her and motioned at her glass.

“No. I’m fine, thanks.” She smiled back and glanced at the front door.

“Waiting for someone?”

“Supposedly. But I think he’s a no-show.”

“Maybe he’s stuck in traffic.”

Macy shrugged. “Maybe.”

Traffic merited a phone call. A text at least. She pulled out her phone and checked it. Nothing. She’d chatted with him online for weeks and he’d seemed decent. Nice, even.

Okay, so he wasn’t the most attractive man she’d dated. But he’d actually talked to her. A lot. Which was a hell of a lot better than the guys she’d met any other way.

But there she was, alone on a Friday night. Instead of trying to get in her pants, he’d stood her up.
Awesome, Macy. Just awesome
.

As she stroked the stem of her glass, she appraised her reflection in the mirror. Long blonde hair, good makeup, slinky black dress. She looked sexy and nice. Didn’t she? She might not be razor-thin, but she could hike ten miles a day and play a mean game of tennis. Besides, men liked a round butt and ample boobs.

If she could only find a decent one. With good hair.
Like that guy. Oooh
. Macy swallowed and crossed her legs. While she’d been staring at herself, a serious stunner had shown up. Tall and clean shaven. With dark brown hair that fell just right and eyes to match.

She licked her lips as she noticed his tailored suit and polished shoes. A businessman.
Why can’t I meet one of them online? At least I’d get a nice dinner out of it, even if he ended up boring.

But the man at the bar screamed sexy and exciting. Not boring at all. Macy grinned, imagining all the things he could do to her. His hands running up her sides, his lips kissing hers. His tongue doing all sorts of amazing tricks. Her panties dampened just thinking about it.

Too bad he’s not my date. Oh, well.
Macy drained the rest of her drink. She’d have one more and head home. Break out her vibrator.

She slid the empty glass across the bar and glanced up, meeting eyes in the mirror. The sexy, chocolate eyes of the hunk three seats over.
Damn
. He stared at her reflection like he was starving and she was the main course.

She smiled and he smiled back.
Oh my god. Could he really be interested?
Macy gripped the bar, closing her eyes to give herself a mini pep talk.
Just say hello. Try not to jump him.
She opened her eyes, turned to introduce herself, and watched him hug another dude.

What? Oh, come on
. Macy slumped back on the seat and pouted. She couldn’t see the second man’s face—just broad shoulders, trim waist and jeans that hung just right. But it was enough. She could fantasize about the guy all she wanted. It wasn’t going anywhere unless she suddenly changed genders.

With a sigh, she turned back to the bar and waved the bartender over. One more drink and she was out of there. If Mr. Internet didn’t show in ten, she was done.

Ray sat down and ordered a beer. It’d been too fucking long since he’d been out. Between the case that ran his damn life and the girlfriend who’d dumped him because of it, he’d barely seen Damien in months.

And if he knew his best friend, Damien was ready to make up for lost time. As he took a sip of the beer, his friend motioned down the bar. “Check out the little vixen in seat number three.”

Ray turned and let out a low whistle. “That’s Macy.”

“You know her?”

“Mmm-hmm. She works on my floor. She’s a paralegal for Mr. Donovan.” His gaze traveled up her creamy white calves and thighs, pausing at her ass covered by a tight black dress. He’d never seen her with her hair down and a painted on pout that screamed fuck me.
Damn. She was hot.

“The corner-office partner?”

Damien’s question jolted Ray back into the present. “That’s the one.”

“Wow. I thought you said you’d rather work for the devil than work for him.”

“I did.”

“So what’s a hottie like that doing it for? Couldn’t she get any job she wanted?”

Ray shrugged. “She never dresses like that in the office, let me tell you. If she did, Donovan would probably fire her on the spot.”

“And you’d have been trying to get in her pants.”

Ray frowned, but Damien had a point. He’d never noticed Macy as date material before. She’d always been friendly, even helping out when his paralegal was sick. But she never went out with the gang after work. Always kept to herself, stayed home.

“I think she’s shy.”

“Sure as hell doesn’t look shy now. Look at those lips and that hair. It’s halfway down her back.”

Ray snorted. He could run his fingers through those blonde tresses all night. “You know, in the office she’s always got her hair tied up in a bun.”

“You have seriously been missing out then.”

“Tell me about it.”

“She made eyes at me before you got here. I think she’s into me.”

“Only until she hears you talk.”

Damien punched Ray in the arm. “Watch it.” He took a sip of his beer and grinned. “I’d thought of asking her out—seeing if she’d go for both of us.”

Ray rolled his eyes. Ever since he’d broken up with Dawn, Damien’d been all over his ass. Trying to find a girl they could date together. It’d worked out once and he’d never forgotten it. And neither had Ray.

He’d been Damien’s best friend since high school. They’d shared everything—secrets, underage beer, women. They were tight—closer than Ray’d even been with Dawn. But they never crossed the sexual line. At least not with each other.

But with a third? Something about having a woman to share—it brought them together. Made them better. Made everything better. Having a woman trapped between them as they brought her over the edge again and again?
Christ
. His dick twitched just thinking about it.

But with Macy? He glanced at her and chewed on his lip. Damien did have a point—he could stroke those curves all night. But they worked at the same firm. It was crazy talk.

“We work together, Damien. I don’t think that’s a good idea.”

“Come on, man. She might go for us. It’s worth a shot isn’t it? What’s the worst that happens?”

“She dumps a drink on our laps?”

“Or just says no and moves on. My ego can handle it. How about yours?”

Ray shook his head. “What about your great plan?”

“To find a woman online? That was before she started making eyes at me in the mirror. But if she turns us down, I’ll post the ad tonight.”

Ray took a swig of beer and glanced at Macy in the mirror. She was everything he wanted in a woman—sexy, intelligent, independent. And he liked the idea of Macy as a joint-girlfriend. She’d be a hell of a lot better than some random internet woman. He’d heard enough horror stories.

But she’d probably turn them down. She didn’t seem the adventurous sort. “I thought you wanted a long-term woman this go round. Not another fling.”

“I do. Who says she has to be a fling?”

As Ray glanced back at Macy, she crossed her legs and her black slinky dress rode up her thigh. He could see miles of satiny skin just begging for his hands. And he could almost feel his dick buried inside her.

“Look, I haven’t even posted the ad yet. Why not see if she’s interested? If she says no, fine. But if she says yes…we’ll have a fun night. And who knows? Maybe more.”

“Fine.” He knew it was a risk, but he couldn’t pass up a chance to see underneath that dress.

“If she turns you down, we’ll post the ad. Tonight.”

“Turns me down, huh? I thought she was making eyes at you?”

Damien chuckled. “Yeah, but you know her. I figure you’ve got a better shot than me. Besides, don’t ladies love your scruffy beard?”

Ray scratched his stubble and shot a dirty look at Damien. Taking a deep breath, he rolled his shoulders and tried to relax.
She’s just like any other woman at a bar, Ray. Pretend she’s not your coworker. Or your online dating salvation.

“All right. Wish me luck.”

“Good luck, man.”

Damien clapped him on the back and he stood up. He walked up to her and leaned over, breathing in her floral perfume as he smiled. “Can I buy you a drink?”

Macy turned to him and almost fell off her stool. “Ray? What are you doing here?”

Ray shrugged. “I’m here with a friend.” He motioned to Damien and the idiot plastered on a grin.

“Oh.” Macy waved back and gave Ray a smile. “I thought you had a girlfriend.”

“Who? Dawn? Oh, yeah. We broke up a few weeks ago. She didn’t…share my interests.”

Macy raised her eyebrows and took a sip of her drink. “I see.”

Ray motioned at the glass. “So, can I buy you another? A Manhattan, is it?”

“Oh, um, yes it is. But I’ve already had two and I’m about to leave.”

He slid onto the stool next to her. “Don’t. Stay and have dinner with me and my friend.”

Macy’s eyes widened and her gaze flicked between him and Damien. “I’m sorry, I think I’m drunk. Did you just ask me to have dinner with you and your boyfriend?”

Ray chuckled. “He’s not my boyfriend. We’re both into women.”

“Oh. I’m sorry, I thought—”

Ray waved her off. “It’s okay. It happens a lot.”

Macy peered over Ray’s shoulder at Damien and bit her lip. He could tell she was confused, and a bit unsure.

He leaned closer and caught her eye. “It’s just dinner. And we’d love to have a conversation with a beautiful woman, instead of being stuck talking to each other.”

“He’s right, you know. After I while, I can’t stand to hear him talk. I’m Damien. Nice to meet you.”

Damien stepped up beside Ray and held out his hand. She took it and gave it a shake.
